It probably could but with the ELF in place there’s absolutely no way it comes back. The hope is the ELF gets a strong partnership with the NFL to help with the growing pains
The old league would never survive. I mean, the realistic possibility of the ELF is to expand across Europe, into cities like Dublin, Stockholm, or cities in the SE of Europe itself.
The closest we have to NFL Europe nowadays is the European League of Football. Some of the ELF teams use the same names and colors as their NFL Europe counterparts.
I used to pull for all the teams that had packers players, I remember there was a wide out who played for Amsterdam, Chad Lucas. That dude probably should've made a roster in the NFL. And also, Atari Bigby ended up becoming a starting safety for Green Bay
All dreams of the NFL ever running a professional league in Europe again can be forgotten after the abysmal failure of the NFL Europe. The NFL now focuses on playing single regular games in Europe, which is probably way more profitable for them. The ELF will probably be all we have concerning professional football in Europe in the near future.
1998 Kurt Warner played for the Amsterdam Admirals. The St. Louis Rams were big on sending QB to NFL-Europe. Jamie Martin also would play there. I remember watching the last regular season game, The Rhein Fire loose to Frankfurt in order for the three teams to end with a 7-3 tie. With that win Frankfurt had the tie breakers over Amsterdam and the Fire won the World Bowl '98 34-10. The 1998 NFL season Warner was behind Tony Banks & Steve Bono. Warner was an exposed Ram for the Browns expansion Draft in '99.
Warner led the League in touchdowns and passing yards that year as well, and his backup in Amsterdam was another future NFL starter- Jake Delhomme. As an aside- I'm glad the Browns didn't take Warner in the Expansion Draft (I guess they were already planning on going all-in on Tim Couch) because he would have had zero protection and no one to throw to...
The great Adam Vinatieri played in what was then the World League of American Football. Scottish Claymores, Amsterdam Admirals, London Monarchs for example. Eventually that became mostly German cities during the final days.
I remember i meet an offensive lineman that played in Germay in the Europe league. This had to be 2006 or 2007 right whenever it was coming to an end he told me that he was working out and trying to make an NFL roster he got married to a captain in the Air Force while he was overseas That's how he was able to get on base and work out
My uncle played for the Barcelona Dragons just before he signed with the patriots in 2000. He said he loved playing in Europe but he also said the league collapsing wasn’t much of a surprise.
The mid-2000's era Arena Football League was awesome. They had a good tv deal, lots of teams and tons of talent. It's a shame how quickly it fell apart.
People come from all over the world to play USA sports for USA MONEY........... But they dont come here to play football. Let that sink in.......... No 6'5 300+ guys coming here to be linemen No rugby players coming over to be RB, FB, LB, WR, SS, ST. No track stars coming here to return kickoffs or catch passes or be a DB. No world class throwing arms coming here to be QBs. The whole rest of the world cringes at our american football. They knew at some point some damning medical research would state the obvious......... that the human brain cannot withstand these repeated violent collisions. Its too much. Theyre comin here to play baseball, basketball, hockey, YOU NAME IT, but nobody wants the American football LIFE. PERIODPOINTBLANK
Stan Gelbaugh (Maryland) was the MVP of the first Season. A 6th round draft pick in 1986 that was on the Buffalo Bills taxi squad for years. Was selling copiers by 1990, and after the WLAF season was able to make some starts for the Phoenix Cardinals due to injuries.
I think it’s time for the NFL to invest in the ELF. The league has shown that it has potential, but without massive external funding it will go the same way as the NFL Europe. This would be a win win situation.
The ELF already is in trouble. Leipzig and Istanbul are already gone, Prague went bankrupt, but somehow managed to stay in the league, at the moment Barcelona is in massive trouble and will probably the next in line. Only the German and Austrian teams seem to be doing okay, but even that isn't guaranteed as Leipzig shows.
NFL Europe (IFL) kinda all of a sudden reminds me of EuroNASCAR except EuroNASCAR didn't go out of business cause, of how big NASCAR is getting each day.
First you had the Sacramento Surge, winner of the 2nd and last World Bowl, that included David Archer as it's quarterback. Then that folded so Owner Fred Anderson move the franchise into the CFL when it expanded into the US briefly to become the Sacramento Gold Miners. Then they moved to San Antonio as the Riders but had to change their name to the Texans because the CFL had 2 teams named the Rough Riders. And it all fell apart after 3 years.
I went to the first game in Montréal in front of 55 000, we were clobbered and never got close to that. I also went to the final in Montréal again. I got free tickets, thats how bad it got. Sad because i loved it. 🤷🏈🏈🤷
I don’t understand how people watch a football game and then go back And watch a soccer game, the MOST BORING Sport I’ve ever Seen. When a 90 minute 0-0 or 1-0 game is “thrilling“ it means ur sport is boring. When the best part of your game is guys flopping around, faking injuries to their shins your sport is boring.
Unlike american throw ball which five minutes of play time takes thirty five minutes because there's a penalty every other fucking play and guys also roll around on the ground
I REALLY thought the "BIGGEST FINANCIAL FAILURE" of the NFL was PAYING Lamar Jackson +50 MILLION PER YEAR on the back end of his career to NEVER win a meaningful playoff game...
Could NFL Europe surive today with streaming? Why or why not?
It probably could but with the ELF in place there’s absolutely no way it comes back. The hope is the ELF gets a strong partnership with the NFL to help with the growing pains
Rhein is pronounced "Rhine", not "Rain".
@DioChicken I'm actually kinda hoping the ELF does well enough to be able to tell the NFL to fuck off. Tall order, I know. Still...
The old league would never survive. I mean, the realistic possibility of the ELF is to expand across Europe, into cities like Dublin, Stockholm, or cities in the SE of Europe itself.
I think time constraints would be tough... Games wouldn't be at the times that are reasonable for us to watch...
The closest we have to NFL Europe nowadays is the European League of Football. Some of the ELF teams use the same names and colors as their NFL Europe counterparts.
The EFL bought the rights of the namens from the NFL
I used to love watching NFLE when I was an insatiably football hungry middle schooler, especially the Galaxy. Was so sad when it shut down.
I used to pull for all the teams that had packers players, I remember there was a wide out who played for Amsterdam, Chad Lucas. That dude probably should've made a roster in the NFL. And also, Atari Bigby ended up becoming a starting safety for Green Bay
NFL Europe helped plant the seeds for the ELF but the NFL will probably need to be active in Europe again to help grow the game even more
And was good for played development
I really wish we could get this to come back and be a part of NFL
All dreams of the NFL ever running a professional league in Europe again can be forgotten after the abysmal failure of the NFL Europe. The NFL now focuses on playing single regular games in Europe, which is probably way more profitable for them. Here in Alabama I was a fan of the Birmingham Fire. Birmingham has been a part of so many of these secondary football leagues.
Note, it seems like any football league that has a team in Birmingham or Orlando is cursed to fail. That’s happened a few times already.

Who was he?
@@cherrycolareal his name is Garrett Johnson, he played a decent amount in 2000/2001 but was mainly a practice squad guy after about week 8 in 2001
@@grahamgunn1309I have searched about him on Wikipedia and he had a career that many people would like, good for him.
They folded cause Kurt Warner left
The mid-2000's era Arena Football League was awesome. They had a good tv deal, lots of teams and tons of talent. It's a shame how quickly it fell apart.
Growing up, I used to play as the NFL Europe teams in Madden.
They should bring it back. Creates more opportunities, and make American football globally popular
Ehhh idk I kind of like this being our own American thing, I don’t mind gatekeeping 😂
The ELF is active and has most teams from NFL Europe! And it’s hype!
We have the EFL since 3 Years that try to fill this Gap

@@duewhit310 One, that’s blatantly not true, and two, what’s your beef 🤣

There is a European football league. Some of the teams fron NFL Europe are in it! They are the European League of Football (ELF)
I think it’s time for the NFL to invest in the ELF.
The league has shown that it has potential, but without massive external funding it will go the same way as the NFL Europe.

I only remember these teams from “madden 2003” 😂😂😂
This endedup becoming the ELF in a round about way . There are 17 teams now there expanding to 24 eventually
I remember a WR who played for the Claymores named Cooper....guy could play....if I'm not wrong he was also a professor.... pretty cool
“HE HATE ME” IYKYK
That’s the original XFL, nothing to do with Europe
NFL Europe’s biggest problem was that it was obviously a “developmental” league. The games didn’t often feel competitive or close.
take a look at the ELF (European League of Football)
Battlehawks to the NFL. Relegate the bears.
Games were shown live in Europe. They were on Sky tv
NFL Europe (IFL) kinda all of a sudden reminds me of EuroNASCAR except EuroNASCAR didn't go out of business cause, of how big NASCAR is getting each day.

We definitely need a video about the CFL’s American expansion. Knowing the good quality videos ETG puts out, I’m sure we’ll be seeing it soon.
The NFL should embrace the ELF
I went to the first game in Montréal in front of 55 000, we were clobbered and never got close to that. I also went to the final in Montréal again. I got free tickets, thats how bad it got. Sad because i loved it. 🤷🏈🏈🤷
To anyone saying "please bring this back" or anything along those lines...
Please see European League of Football.
I remember nfl Europe being in one of the old maddens it was cool
I was a Berlin Thunder fan, those uni's went hard!
So their champions we're real ''World champions''? Not like the NFL
American Football? Nah! Baseball on the other hand...
I read that the nfl still loses money playing in europe but im guessing its nowhere near as much as nfl europe
I enjoyed watching NFL Europe as a kid. I liked the Berlin Thunder
At least the ELF has their own Berlin Thunder.
European League of Football is around and has taken the spot for the top league of American football in Europe. Some NFLE teams are in the ELF
I only remember these teams cause I used to beat up on them in the golden days of Madden 😂
Always wondered who those random teams were in the 2000’s madden games
It was a solid league. Great players and performance. I enjoyed it when it was on TV.
Babe wake up, new embrace the grind video dropped
If they really eant some foreigners to play football, id start by getting some sumos to try offensive line. They are made for blocking
My favorite team is the San Antionio Brahmas
Time to expand to Europe, NFL. Add those London teams.
I’d love a video on the PSFL

2 hours of adverts😂😂😂😂😂😂
Man, I miss NFL Europe. Go Hamburg Sea Devils!
that league had the best uniforms ever.
Barthelona
Galaxy!!!!!!!!!!!
SOUNDS LIKE THE WNBA 🤷🏿♂️
WFLA?
The Sacramento Surge!! Chapms
I REALLY thought the "BIGGEST FINANCIAL FAILURE" of the NFL was PAYING Lamar Jackson +50 MILLION PER YEAR on the back end of his career to NEVER win a meaningful playoff game...
Birmingham stallions back to back champs of the usfl working on being first ufl champs and go back to back to back bringing it home to bama
I use to like the galaxy because of they colors and helmet 😂
I miss the original XFL (the one that lasted only one season, go LA Xtreme) and the AAF (Arizona Hotshots), sadly both leagues were horribly managed
Barth-a-lona?
I love seeing the nfl fail!
Good content, but your vocal cadence is so freaking annoying.
