Sorry about that. Good catch!!! Always use a new filter O ring unless it's an emergency. I can see a lot of problems with this type of filter. 1. The housing made out of plastic so it not good if you change your oil when it hot. 2. Using an old O ring (depending on how much it already stretched out), it can come off the groove when you screw the cap in. 3. If the thread are misaligned when you screw the cap in, it will push the O ring out of the groove and damage the cap. 5. I didn't see an Anti Drain back valve in this filter, so it's a disadvantage using this type of filter. Bad engineer for this filter. The good old spin on screw off filter with a built in drain back valve is still the best.
16:30 the little silver metal retaining clip to the left of your oil filter wrench should be removed before removing the filter housing, and the re-inserted after re-installing the filter housing. You can easily remove the clip using a small hammer to gently tap it out, or pliers to gently wiggle it out.
You said, "The repair manual says to lubricate the old o-ring when you put it in..." I'm sure you meant the NEW o-ring... 🤔😉
Good job... 👍
