Strawberry Manor Neighborhood Cleanup, 5/18/24

Our collaborative Strawberry Manor Neighborhood Cleanup with Sacramento Area Creeks Council took place on Saturday under clear blue skies and a wonderful cool breeze. In all, 14 volunteers with a 🎶Little Love in Their Hearts🎶 took to the streets to tidy things up a bit. This neighborhood sits at the northeast corner of the confluence of Arcade and Steelhead Creeks, two of our big project areas.
In 2 1/2 hours, volunteers filled our trailer, mostly with small, loose items from illegal dumping, much of which had been scattered by wind, as well as human and animal elements. We also made 2 huge piles of appliances, tires and large bulk items for a 311 report. Just as we were finishing up, much to our surprise in rolled our friends at Forensiclean to save the day!
Not only did Forensiclean load up some of the small trash we had collected, they also came back and picked up the bulk piles, leaving this area looking fantastic. While RCWA volunteers hauled 1,680 pounds of trash to the dump in SACC's trailer, Forensiclean hauled off about twice that much. This cute little neighborhood is shining again! 🌟
This event was funded in part by a neighborhood clean-up grant from the City of Sacramento, which enabled us to market the event and buy much needed supplies. Thank you City of Sacramento!
