Thanks Matt for this video!! You saved me so much money!! I changed mine the other day and just from watching your video! ( I am also a woman with no auto experience❤)
That is so nice to hear! That is my aim with these videos that even people with no experience will be able to follow them and complete the job. Thank you for your feedback.
Some advice to you: when doing any work on suspension it’s much better to always lift the vehicle evenly on both sides and on jackstands, with the floor jack acting as a security support. Very important so you don’t risk getting your arm broken by a returning sway bar. Never rely on a floor jack alone.
Thanks for the excellent video. I thought for sure that I would have to bring it in to my mechanic but watching your experience showed me it wasn't an onerous task. I jacked mine up from the front centre to do both sides at once and the sway bars cam off fairly easily. Thanks for the torque data - very useful. 3 of my 4 pins were very difficult to get out. I used a lot of penetrating oil, heat from a torch, and some serious banging. To get them moving, I used my air driver with an impact socket to at least get it moving in a circle in both directions. I had to move the brake caliper out of the way to get some serious blows in with a good sized hammer on the lower pins. I messed up the threads a bit and had to file them back to a usable condition. After a few hours the job is done, the car doesn't make noise and drives straight when I let go of the wheel, and I am now enjoying a fine IPA from Red Truck Brewing as a just reward. Also thinking about how much $$$ I saved. Again, thanks. Your video is awesome.
finally did strut replacement today along with brake pads & rotors . this video helped big time. my sway bar links didn't have flats on them, what a PITA to get that nut off .
Great video! I like that you are clear on what to do and don’t rush. We have to change one on my moms 2010. Depending on cost we may not replace both at the same time. I’m going to look up the company you bough yours from. Going to subscribe, thank you!
Thanks I really appreciate that feedback and the subscription. I do understand trying to save money but I would really recommend against replacing just one strut, there will be a difference between them and it could affect how the vehicle handles an evasive maneuver.
Some advice here: never change only one side, the ride will definitely feel uneven and you could break more components along the way ending up costing more money.
Thanks Matt, what a great video and didn't miss a step. Finally got a video that shows step by step instead of having you guess what to do in-between steps. 🤣 I'm a follower now, have a great day and thanks for the great instructional video.👍

My top strut mount has rusted through and the shock has broken through into the engine bay. So I’m going to have to find a way to compress the spring before I can remove the shock as the spring is now pressed against the vehicle
@michaelbrown17 That's some serious rust! You can buy strut spring compressors really cheap, like $20 on Amazon and you might not be able to get them both in there on the vehicle, but even one should pull it down enough to get it out.
Hi Matt, thanks for the great video consider me subscribed! I'm wondering if you know how these struts are holding up 5 months later? I found them online and the price seems too good to be true.

@joeprevost8284 Sorry, I typically only video one side unless there's a difference which there isn't on this. They should be exactly the same on each side.

I have a question....whag would the torque specs be on the 3 nuts of the strut on top?also would you happen to know where i could find boots for the inner tie rods?i got some but they were small
@paulg444 There shouldn't be as long as they are not broken or anything. I've reused them on other vehicles plenty, but in this case I just happened to find the complete assembly cheaper.
Does the direction the arrow on the strut mount is pointing matter at all? Some say it should point forward, others backward, others to the outside, otherwise the world will end.
@nickm4064 I'm not sure, I don't recall the ones I had having that arrow. I would say if everything lines up and it goes in smoothly, then you did it right.

I did not notice, (or if I did I’ve forgotten since) but the arrow probably points to be outside, the top of the strut tower is not flat, so it needs to match that angle.
I sold it about six months after I put them in but they were fine for me during that time. I bought quite a few of their parts for that vehicle and was happy with them all, had one tiny mixup and customer service was amazing.
