As a certified private investigator, I highly respect this field of work. People like to give them flak because they’re private sector agents and people are under the impression that they don’t have any “power.” Forgetting that they have the power to trespass people (which is around a $100 fine if trespassing occurs), and the legal authority to enforce policies (I.E corporate laws) on private property, with the added bonus that they are trained to conduct a citizens arrest off property if necessary. Do your research, I had to study about the private security industry when I studied for private investigations. Good place to start learning about the industry? Study the Pinkerton detective agency, they are the ones that started everything in the private security sector in the United States. And thanks to the private security industry, we have things such as mugshots, bounties, fingerprinting, forensics, and body guarding. INVENTED BY PRIVATE SECURITY FIRMS not by police, though the Pinkerton detective agency invented it for the sheriffs department.

It should be mandatory that a stab proof vest and slash resistant gloves be handed out to all guards. I can't tell you how many times security officers have been stabbed or slashed at.
