- In this video, John is a defensive tactic instructor at Unity One, Inc. Training Academy. The trainer will be teaching a class on how to become a security guard in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unity One, Inc. is one of the top security guard companies in its industry and they do all they can to train their officers with proper defensive takedown tactics.
In the training today, the students will learn how to safely take a criminal down. The technique is called the push/pull method. This is a simple move requiring two moves to redirect forces to get the individual safely into a handcuffing position. This will reduce the amount of impact on the security guard patrol and the person they are disarming.
For weeks, the students have been trained in basic defensive techniques that are in compliance with security service companies in Las Vegas. In today’s class, they are learning to add easy takedown methods to disarm a criminal much easier. The instructor notes that an action is much faster than a reaction. So if someone has a gun pointed right at you, it is best to act right away. First, put your hands up because you will use it to defend yourself. Then, the students learn a wrist technique that gets the criminal down into a strategic position. A strategic position is the ideal position to be in where you have full control over the situation and who you are disarming. Viewers will get a chance to see the students practice on each other and hear John give feedback on their performance.
As one of the best security agency in Las Vegas believe in putting safety first. Many of their trainers in the academy have previous experience serving in the armed guard services and in security guard services. Based on their experience in security, they are able to teach students safe technique. Students who aspire to become security officer learn methods that do not involve striking, but rather keep them in control by redirecting the force. Unity One, Inc. also trains their students in private security and offer training in national security guard.

A lot of experts in the comments but I don't see any links to their videos. With any technique practice any knowing when to apply it is key. Once u learn the foundation of a technique by learning it from a basic position then you can start to adapt it to other scenarios. A lot of people don't understand that when it comes to learning moves like these. Of course there is no end all be all disarm.
Yeah, ok . .
But this is what law enforcement is working with ?
Shoulders slowtched, not even alert, no pressure, situational stress etc .?
It's like you're actually saying that the training will eventually come through in a chaotic situation ?
Is that what you're saying ? Huh?
You approve this soft training for law enforcement ?
Is that what you're saying ?
Send this video to all law enforcement across the land so they can learn what good training looks like ?
So this is a good example ?
That's what you're saying ?
Bravo
I have no statement . .
Just all those questions . .
I mean protect and serve ?
My question is protecting who?
Serving ?
Apply those two words to this and it's pretty clear . .
So far so good, I'm a security guard and I lift weights and do lots of pushups, I want to move on up to takedowns, handcuffs, and self defense. I carry a gun at some places. Maybe one day, become a bodyguard.
As the gunner you can pull the trigger way faster than the disarmer. I've tried this kind of stuff for fun in my karate class and would not recommend doing this unless you want to get shot
Respectfully I disagree, it depends on the situation that’s why you train , respectfully karate isn’t going to help you In a street fight , I’m a 1st degree black belt in taekwando , but only some of it can transfer in an actual fight , I would recommend doing a defensive tactics class, and switching to Muai Thai , but again that’s my experience and opinion, but training for stuff like this is crucial
If you want to really step this training up and learn that it is still very possible to get shot trying to take a gun from someone, use some simunition and the force on force training guns. There are many instances where this technique will lead to you getting shot more often than you will in disarming the attacker.
100% agree with you there!
Yes, Simunition or an Airsoft pistol will do well for training. I recommend a blank gun pistol for the sound portion of the training. I know the blank gun is a risky thing involving the hand but with good practice & using tough gloves you'll most likely be fine if there was a mess up.
Thank You! More training for security, the Better. Gives us more options. Reduce risk of using deadly force and liability goes with that.
Soaking this up like a sponge over here.
THANK YOU for posting this, I'm off to look for more! :)
Girl with the glasses is not taking it seriously. Nobody ever thinks it will happen to them..
Leave my fellow Bostonians alone...lol
Was about to say the same thing
There are some dangerous people in this world. It's not just the bad guys that get hostile, ordinary people can and do get hostile also. To think that you could take somebody down is foolish unless you do it everyday for a living. However, you certainly need to know how to respond if you get pulled into a fight.
Truth
Yeah she got me pissed
I'm not going to lie. This is Hella useful information for a noobie BSIS ARMED GRUNT especially in the year of 2024 in Northern California.
This is a decent tactic. Whether it appears if she takes it seriously or not doesn’t matter as much as if she applies it when necessary. I’ve seen the most seriously focused trainees forget skills that more relaxed students retain.
Excellent techniques. Thank you for posting this video clip on RUclips.
love this technique, haven't seen it in a few years last time i did was in karate class when i was studying ishinru karate.

Good Stuff, Everyone should watch this~~
Excellent info
Amazing tactics!!!
I'm been having my own gun about 18 years my beautiful Glock 19 I've been shooting rifle AR-15 it does recoil 300-yard. It's beautiful but the same time is dangerous I tried this with my friend with a paint ball gun same time he have Protection on his chest the way this guy was training did not work a shot him and what the fuck is this fucking bullshit training driving a gun like that you get your chest Blown Away it's funny the way you train in real life I will not grab a gun like that guy squeeze the trigger will kill you gun man will not let you grab the gun away from that person
nyc one.... on the watch
John, great video. I retired several years ago, plenty of hobbies, but decided to re-enter the work force part time. I chose unarmed (no firearms) security guard work, and I love it. So bare with me. I am new to your videos. Do you offer a video that shows techniques to disarm a person with a knife? Thanks.
all this shot talking..... the title clearly says security training... for example if you join the military, they are not going to automatically deploy you. you have to go to BASIC training. 2/3 of the people who enlist have never shot a gun in their life. that's why it's TRAINING
shit *
Nicely explained
I’ve seen the green Ranger aka Jason David Frank do a really effective disarm.
Looks great.
Nice tactics
Good video makes me want to practice I feel like the girl in the glasses needed to move her left leg forward while doing the move she kept doing the right leg
I highly suggest physical fitness too
i just started in a 3 years security guard school. Thanks for the help! ill try to train this on my brother! ;)
3 year security gaurd school?
Jesus christ.
Great tutorial
07:34 that awkward moment where the cult leader (instructor) fails to prove this shit will keep you safe.
nice to see them training ,dont care for the disarm technique ,it isnt practical in that it will result in stray bullets flying around and it doesnt give immediate control of the weapon. you need to be in a control position to prevent being grabbed and having to wrestle over a firearm. strip weapon step back check the leg and give order to get down or if situation requires it such as numerious attackers lay down shots on target.
How much is the classes and how long is the classes
Excellent! Training. This gentleman is also an excellent!! trainer. I definitely wants to see more.
I really like it nice video
Trained security guards receive instruction to help them identify risks, recognize emerging threats and volatile situations, and effectively prevent incidents before they become major problem
That's the goal but sometimes you don't have that opportunity. Things can literally go from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye. So it's good to be trained to at least give yourself some sort of advantage if it does go bad.
Security Guards need to be intense trainning as MMA fighters and pro wrestlers
Or we can be fat :D
Guards maybe, not Officers... they need to be proactive
One word for you to look up: KALAH.

@@User-zl9pj What a mess!!
1)Why are you talking to me here and not under my comment???
2) WHAT GAME???
Doing self defense is amazing always
IAM a security guard and I would love to train with yoi
i hope your are joking
Hand defense yourself takedown techniques hand arm block attack punch
learned something .thanks
Awesome video almost makes it look easy
Ill practice this with a training partner & a blank gun after practice with the dummy gun. It's necessary to hear the sound of the gun shot & be ready for it
Great Instructor!
thanks master
Great tips!
ty j t
They're STUDENTS for a reason!!
Do you think officers security or police officers should have extra training on how to disarm a person if threatened. For instance if somebody is coming at you with a pipe would it be okay if I was a police officer for the first thing to grab would be my gun. I really enjoy your videos on youtube.
Depends on state law, and the manner that you were charging the officer. It most cases, it wouldn't lead to an officer using deadly force.
no. because if you are being threatened with a weapon, then you pull your gun and return fire.
Idk why I'm here, my boyfriend is a security gaurd and I was wondering about the kind of training and stuff he had to go through. Pretty useful too.
If I see a gun, he can have the item or building, I aint dying over that
exactly, glasses is not taking it seriously and is making it way harder than it is, it's like centrifugal force, going 2 different ways against an object, or something like that lol I know what I'm trying to say cause I've used it many times in martial arts . anyways even in practice to me that's a real gun and I will use about 75% force, repeat in mirror a bunch of times if have to it will save ur life or at least make someone think twice
great tactics!
thanks kent
Like to see this guy break Jerry’s grip 👀
Where is this located ?
smart man i like the disarming tactics and i like the take down
please don't try this in real life. you'll die.
If I wanted to be a private security will I learn how to apply locks, takedowns
U can use these in law enforcement too
Much respect
😂 😂 😂
A lot of people went to hell after having tried that....
So what if they are dealing with a Trained civil? I don't think this techniques will work. So please Inform them that this technique is not a go to...
The girl in the glasses dosen't need too be a security officer at all period not being mean being serious being a officer is exstreamly dangerous its not a joke I have been in the security field for more than 20 plus years
good stuff brother
As a security officer. I would do everything possible to avoid getting into this position, but it can happen. Good video but you need to train a lot to be good and accurate.
Self Judô Styled Based is the best for safethy tough security guard's dud
Great ...I learn fast only watch and do samething but I don't speak very well, is it a problem? ( because I'm studying English).
thanks
hope this works start talking training classes tomorrow
I don't see any joint locks
Am Anthony Allen I would like to come and attended the training school
Im a female security officier i know some techniques I would love to know more
Great training, but the only thing is that you reply on the assailant to be a 'thug' and not properly hold the firearm...
Aiki ju jutsu or practical combat effective aiki do. Would be good for you guys or jeet kune do and dan inosatos kali and silat but what i have done , for 35, yesrs Kyushu Ryu Ninjutsu
during this in instruction, instructor forgot to begin with putting hands up in a posture of surrender, otherwise good develop able tactics.
That's really nice
I’m in know way an expert, heck not even close. But I grew up in a police and special forces family, and one thing you should know is if it can go wrong, act as if it will. So telling him to hold it like a gangster is exactly what everyone assumes will happen. And don’t get me wrong that is most likely, but let’s act like your attacker has a little bit of training and knows to keep your gun close to your chest then what? Always have a backup plan. That was my autobiography lol.

Why do people think action beats reaction? I always react in time. Unless I'm fatigued.
A person can naturally have slow reaction time, they train your conscience actions to make up for the possibility of subconscious slow reactions. Plus if you act you're no longer leaving the situation up to chance
Does community classes have these classes
Orange is the New black: security instruction
Also, proof read that description, please.
Just train BJJ or just some form of MMA. In all aspects of reality, trying to grab a gun is not as easy as it looks. No one is going to sit there and let you take their gun from them and definitely not as easy as he displays it.
Ok...whatever company you work for will not protect or defend you. Comply. Obey. Get details of a assailant.
The trigger can be accidentally pulled getting someone shot. You are not considering that.
Very dangerous.
No offense to any instructors in this, but this is dangerous training. You can see multiple time with this technique that they get the firearm pointed away and then pull it back towards themselves and flag themselves again. This is not a training issue, it's a technique issue. In almost all of these situations they pull the arm back towards themselves and if they miss with the other hand trying to grab the gun or lose control of the gun during the pull or struggle that is sure to ensue (Which can happen no matter how many hours of training you have) they are going to put the firearm right back on themselves and more than likely be shot.
There displaying this like the guy with the gun is just gonna let you take the gun out his hand, what would happen more realistically is he would pull back on the gun turn it around and shoot you anyways lmao
Stop making fun of gangsters gun stance, it worked for me all the time back in the days.
Yes....yes.
Do like the convicts do...slow, deliberate to get basics down....no speed in begining.get muscle response first
I find it bullshit tbh, these people arn't made to face real situation like a individual pointing a gun or trying to harm them. Im saying that in security training things like this shouldnt be taught or shown. BUT what im trying to say is that its unrealistic most the things they train or show. In my opinion a Security person SHOULD be training or have been training some sort of combat sport such as MMA, boxing, Muay Tai or BJJ, for atleast a year BEFORE they become a security guard. I myself am currently doing a 17 day security course to be able to work as a security officer. I have been training boxing for over 2 years. Which will obviously help in situation like this. Conclusion of my argument: implement some sort of combat sport training in security training.
Why are the dispatchers taking this training?
If you think I got a gun and you finna do that you crazy😭😭😭
Okay i would not recommend this for everyone. Clearly in the practice you can see almost all of them will die with an experienced shooter. You need to assess the size, strength and environment. A disaster in progress here.
Kool great
Paul Blart academy
Everyone loves this stuff because it looks cool. Hope he gets the money for the class before they try this stupid sh*t. They won’t be around to pay up.
Now I feel confident if I'm at gunpoint
I do not embrace force if want to become security guard .
somebody gone get killed trying to take a weapon....
You can visibly see him getting annoyed at the girls being giddy and not taking it too seriously.
On the streets they won't ask again and there are no second chances.
Those women are tiny and they need a weapon because they simply won't be able for a pissed of non complaint shit with a problem with the law, prison and police. The sidearm they will receive is the only equaliser they have.
6:40 very funny 🤓
I wanna be a security guard
This is a great cash grab for the guy teaching this class but in reality, a guy with his finger on the trigger would not have hesitated to pull the trigger his finger is on the moment they feel your hand touch their skin. Facts.
love it
thank you ashley
"Gangbanger way" TF that suppose to mean............ I felt hella disrespected he implying to us blacc people
Justin Penn you must can't read can't you
