Too right mate. Especially if it's in a prison and there's a 6 odd foot guy stood in front of you you must be in a defensive position. The best is side on like a boxing stance. My tutor at college experienced this when a prisoner grabbed him during a search, he was stood in a good side-on position and was able to defend himself by smashing the guy in the chin. Good note.
I will say this about his search methods, you never slide your hands across their body. It there is a needle, or knife, you will get stuck, or cut by sliding your hands. To conduct a proper search, first thing to take into account, is a search is not called a slide search, it's called a pat search. What does that mean, well simply put, you pat the areas to be searched. That way if there is a sharp object, you will be less likely to gut stuck, poked, or cut. So never slide your hands during the search, but pat search and it is always a good idea to have some sort of glove that is resistant to needles, knives or blades.
i agree for officer safety we wore gloves to prevent cuts or punctures from sharp objects. Ideally the gloves should be thin enough to feel things but strong enough to resist cuts. Good info in the video though.
He is searching inside the fighting zone, at anytime the searcher could have been attacked and he wouldn't see it coming. Always search in the safe zone behind the person being searched to one side so there's little chance of being struck and you have more of a reaction time to deal with attacks. I have searched thousands of people in my 22 years working security and have been attacked successfully a few times when searching from the front, every attack made when I have searched from the safe zone behind the arm has failed. Crucifix searches are also dangerous because both arms are in position to deliver a nice hook to head. I like to tuck their arm under mine so im in position for a take down if an attack happens.
I only do searches with another colleague to watch my back to keep an eye on the customer just incase plus do it in front of cctv camera to protect yourself from any allegations..always I have some sort of witness and also safety..as you never know if a customer is going to kick off...
You forgot to search his/her shoes, so have them remove their shoes, make sure there isn't anything inside the shoe and then once you're satisfied, you can have them back on.
I've been a door supervisor for 4 years, I remember when I had a trainer who used taught similar to this guy, if I ever met tht trainer again I'd give him a slap and say, come and work door with me and let's see how much you shit you miss that's walks through the door and how many people attack you when bend over in front of sumone,
if a drunk swings on you, you dont ask for permision to search a indivigual. Yet this is another example of what not to do because companies dont want to get sued
All these comments stating that these are not S.I.A. is very funny, the ppl who give those type of comments are probably bared from doing security work because they have a criminal record and they hope with their pathetic comments they will stop ppl from doing the training.
yh its essentially like kitchen porter/waiter. Some jobs do pay a bit higher. But theres a risk too. Although most of the time you're safe in security and don't do nothing at all. Easy job. No back pain no sweating.
Unfortunately this trainer clearly hasn't got a clue what he's doing I had an Indian come to my venue last week same protocol search was conducted I could clearly see he was wearing a turban on his head and obviously for religious reasons he was not asked to remove this however I did ask him if he could run his finger around the inside of the front and back and sides of the turban he was more than happy to do that I was happy if he had nothing upon his persons that he shouldn't of had
Ignore! You need to go in pockets! He would have missed a bag of coke in every pocket! Don't warn him they would just say no. If there are signs saying search is a condition of entry by entering he is already agreeing sort of. Be a little bit intimidating it's your job, but be fair and not a bully.
This is not good searching, for a start and prob the most important for safety is never stand directly in front, if they wanted to become violent you in a pretty bad position to defend yourself :(
Ethan1871 Well I would handle that like this: Is there any particular reason why you don't want to show it? If it some embarrassing thing which is why he doesn't want to show it. You could say that is alright, we just want to make sure everyone's safety we are not here to condemn anyone.
you can send a message to SIA and explain this and they will give you a accurate response. otherwise if you do the whole course and at the end SIA refuse your application you will lose your money and the time spent. so drop a message to SIA help section and get the lawful accurate response
yasir Pervez1 second ago Someone help if you want to work ad a secruity guard do you have to do the door supervision course to?? or just the secruity guard training??
yasir Pervez door supervisor training plus badge allows you to do every job apart from cctv, security guard license and training only allows you to be a security guard
And @donkeyponkywonky...... no, just no.... My recommendation is, keep that info to yourself. If its a serious question, then the answer is obvious... Its a security role! what happens if you were to search someone with their consent (Of course) and find your favourite drug on them (E.g Weed) What would you do? Keep it for yourself and smoke it later?
I am a security trainer and still operational in the field. This guy is not teaching either best practice or realistic operational procedures. There are a lot of companies using instructors like this and some of the comments posted reflect what might result from such a search, very poor and slightly patronising.
so basicaly if u want to carry stuff and not get caught say your jewish or Indian and hide the stuff under the cover of a fake lie but notice if you say no to a serch sorry not aloud inn ok im religious that changes the whole way of political correctness
did the security guard have legal authority to detain handcuffed and search the man in this video without asking him first??? I was evicted from my apartment complex because of this encounter on grounds of zero tolerance drug policy and crime-free addendum..... also I did not invite the person to my apartment and did not know he was outside.... ruclips.net/video/1TAKSygSEGU/видео.htmlsi=J9scXxVKtV21ltIT
You're clearly a qualified trainer however I would seriously put this into practice the conducted search you are doing is incorrect as a qualified trainer you should know never to search the front legs and go down to the floor also Arms should be extended out with Palms always facing towards the ceiling leg searches should always be conducted from behind never from the front as you know if you do this search from the front you are likely to get a knee in your face while his arms are extended and his palms are face to the ceiling you now have more time to react if he decides to punch you while you're searching the arms you are using the palm of your hands big mistake as a trainer you should know the top of your hands top of your hands is correct and the palm of your hands is incorrect also for religious people you ask them to run their finger around the headwear
the door men would be knocked out easily.. he's a shit trainer... should do from side and the persons arm on your shoulder... #getLicensedLondon is the best for training guys
Only when you are abroad and armed with a mate who is standing beside the guy being searched with a firearm pointed would at the person being searched would you frontal search. No one in their right mind would knee you in the face when down low searching in a face on position. I agree frontal searches in UK can be dodgy.
Stephen Mullins That's why u ask them to set their feet to 2 and 10pm on a clock with their arms out wide and palms facing the sky. They try anything they're off balance and easy to knock them off their feet. Also good way to see if they're very drunk. If they're blootered they just end up off balance then u tell them to come back another night when they're in a more fit condition.
Just Found This...im starting my duty today Thank you
i recently completed a SIA course and this video being 13 years old is very similar to todays security courses.
As a SIA Trainer myself there has been lots of changes but core remains same
Same
I just started my course we’re doing a role play on conducting a search tomorrow pretty nervous

s u right d s first they have to think that.
Good tip there, especially with the gloves.
Reading this helped me
i agree for officer safety we wore gloves to prevent cuts or punctures from sharp objects. Ideally the gloves should be thin enough to feel things but strong enough to resist cuts. Good info in the video though.
Excellent , these professional tips were learned by older generation the hard way,

Noted.
legs you search from behind . in case he gives you a knee in your face . always protect your self first
I only do searches with another colleague to watch my back to keep an eye on the customer just incase plus do it in front of cctv camera to protect yourself from any allegations..always I have some sort of witness and also safety..as you never know if a customer is going to kick off...

Thanks for video.
Searched him wrong. Should of searched from the side, not the front. Rest of it looked spot on!!
This video learn how to search a man properly i like this video

I've been a door supervisor for 4 years, I remember when I had a trainer who used taught similar to this guy, if I ever met tht trainer again I'd give him a slap and say, come and work door with me and let's see how much you shit you miss that's walks through the door and how many people attack you when bend over in front of sumone,
Lol true shit training
and a future note this is a perfect senerio, that never exist in the field
if a drunk swings on you, you dont ask for permision to search a indivigual. Yet this is another example of what not to do because companies dont want to get sued
2/Using back of hands so you dont cut a artery
all the drugs were in a false sole in his shoes or in tip of shoe (slightly oversize shoes)
@marcus2rrf and @daisyboo214 I agree! This is not a good example of a search to show candidates... Knee to face.
3/You do not go down in front of him incase he knees u in the face
ANY CCTV TRAINING TIPS?
how to get something in a venue that could cause harm past security?..simples!..keep it within ones religious headgear.
search his personal belongings first incase he has a pocket knife on his keys etc
@zozanday still a 4 day course but now theres 3 exams.
All these comments stating that these are not S.I.A. is very funny, the ppl who give those type of comments are probably bared from doing security work because they have a criminal record and they hope with their pathetic comments they will stop ppl from doing the training.
I paid out for SIA training and to be honest, it isn't worth the time and money. Security Industry wages are a joke. I have never used my SIA licence.
Really
yh its essentially like kitchen porter/waiter. Some jobs do pay a bit higher. But theres a risk too.
Although most of the time you're safe in security and don't do nothing at all. Easy job. No back pain no sweating.
the next drug mule we gonna use at a festival is our Sikh friend
Did not know security guards can conduct a search?
not only didnt he check shoes he got on his knee's u dont do that because they have an advantage and take u down
Religious clothing can't be removed? Why should a religion give someone exemption from security checks?
firstly becuase they have protected characteristics. Secondly because its rude. thirdly, just do a visual check you wally.
Equality and human rights
@@ahmadnawaz9186That's the opposite of equality...

1/Sliding your hands across his = if he has a weapon u gona get sliced
Ignore! You need to go in pockets! He would have missed a bag of coke in every pocket! Don't warn him they would just say no. If there are signs saying search is a condition of entry by entering he is already agreeing sort of. Be a little bit intimidating it's your job, but be fair and not a bully.

Get Licensed are the best lol. How much were you paid to make that comment!
You asked to search his wallet for you,. What if he say he dont want to, do you just let it be or what than?
Ethan1871 Well I would handle that like this: Is there any particular reason why you don't want to show it? If it some embarrassing thing which is why he doesn't want to show it. You could say that is alright, we just want to make sure everyone's safety we are not here to condemn anyone.
Well then he can't enter or pass whatever is guarded.
another example of a trainer whos never done the job
That's a great way... To get your head knocked off.
Hy.does i have a chance to be a Cctv or security guard agent with my right arm disability?cant use my arm i keep it in my poket looks normal
