- Remember the ugly tile fireplaces in our home from the new house tour a while back? Well, I am finally giving them a makeover. As much as I'd love to just rip them out and replace them, it's not in the budget right now. So a great solution in the mean time is to paint them. I'm sharing some great tips in this video for those of you looking to do a similar project such. Let me know what you think of this project in the comments.

Black paint on tile made it look like a deep void. Painting the tile white to me makes it look more elegant plus more in tune to the house. Just my opinion. Fantastic job as always.
This fire pit is one of a few covered pits that is on the list ruclips.net/user/postUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM of approved products for Disney Fort Wilderness. The product served its purpose well and provided excellent fires throughout the evening. We were able to open the door and do s'mores, but I had to be careful because the handle was a bit hot on occasions. Additionally, I wish they had replaced some of the standard nuts with lock nuts in some places. We lost the door handle after just a couple of days of usage. Not a deal breaker, just a recommendation. I still give it 5 stars.
I love how clean and new it looks. The white was the perfect choice.
So glad you painted the fireplace all the same! You always do a wonderful job and the fact that you filmed the redo is a testament to your authenticity! Thank you!🥰🥰
The black looked good but the white did look better. Can’t wait to see more projects from the new house!
Also I recreated the dresser you made with the green and cane material. Even down to the molding , knobs, and legs. The whole shabang! It came out so nice. It was nice to work on a project with my hands. It has inspired me to redo other dressers and nightstands as well. I love this channel and the creativity that I find within myself from watching. Thanks 💜
I like the black but I think you made the right choice on repainting it white. It looks great!
Gorgeous work....I just love it. Thanks for showing us when things go not as planned on a DIY project. You are truly awesome with some crazy good DIY skills!! Your home is beautiful!!
I was searching for painting tile on a 1920s fireplace and your video came up - I’d bet money yours is original. It looks exactly like ours in our house that was built in 1920, same square tiles and wide grout, only difference is our tile is an olive/taupe. Going to give it a whirl but with the hearth a slate gray and the surround white dove - to match our mantle (all our trim is painted white dove too!). We’ll definitely use the primer you recommended, thanks!! Yours turned out beautifully!! 😊
This came out beautifully👌🏽 I love older houses.
I love that you showed the black and the white! I am trying to make that same decision and you saved me a step!
Absolutely gorgeous . Amazing what paint can do always. This made a great difference.
It’s so so beautiful! ❤
Love all that you do.
Looks amazing white!! Clean n cohesive❤
Looks great! 👍🏼
I think you did a great job, even the black paint trial had a reason for happening. Now you know for sure which looks better!
The fireplace turned out amazing great job
This came out great!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for this tutorial, I have the same issue with my fireplace and have been thinking of painting but afraid of it not working. Your channel explained things perfectly, and has given me hope that I can change the look of my current fireplace. Thank you.
Very pretty!!!!
stunning
Beautiful ilovet thanks for sharing.
Luv the white!
So much better!
great job, thanks for the video
Super helpful video!! I’m moving into my family house soon that’s been vacant for a few years and it’s an old house with a fireplace just like this!! I was wondering what I would do to freshen it up, this video saved my life!
That gorgeous tile was original. I’m glad you didn’t rip it out so the next homeowner can restore it if they wish. I’m not a fan of the painted tile (looks like painted tile), but I’m glad you repainted it. The black looked like a dark hole and was too stark against the bright white paint.
I love this and I am totally inspired to do mine now…also don’t know what I’ve been waiting for.
I’m so glad it was helpful!
Amazing job and I love the detail. I wish I could paint my fireplace but I am in a rental. By the way where is your fireplace screen from it’s gorgeous!!!
Beautiful! And thank you for keeping it real...I so easily get down on myself and I like how calmly you just moved on from a wrong choice (in paint). I tend to not like a lot of black--I always feel it gives off Darth Vader vibes, lol! As always, a lovely video!
Worlds better, but I would still do something with the upper tile row. maybe stick wooden decorations on the corners or a whole decorated wooden strip
I used the same rustoleum and just did one coat. Did you notice a ton of black dust in the room after you were done?
Also, it’s been 24 hours and fireplace has a black residue…not sure if the spray paint adhered properly…did you experience that?
Yes I did! I just swept/vacuumed it up. It hasn’t affected the paint at all. I think it’s just a quirk of the paint.
Thank you! Did you do anything to cure the paint? I still notice when I touch it it comes off like a residue…
I didn’t. It is only on the very inside of my fireplace so it hasn’t been a problem for me. It seems cured to me as we haven’t had any offgassing or smells when using the fireplace and it sweeps out fine.
Thank you for your help and the great video!
Kind of ruined this fireplace, tiles werent ugly, what is ugly is what is around tiles bc seems someone already ruined that part before. Right choise would have been restore what is around and to have unique fireplace... now it is kind of meh, not classy at all.
Move on, Natasha...
How about just staying quiet….😉
