    Great video. Both cameras are great with pros and cons over each other and can’t go wrong with either option. I own the R6 and want to point out that for the auto focusing test you used the RF 85 F2 lens which is one of the worst lens for video in terms of auto focusing speed. That lens makes the R6 seem slower but it’s not they’re both similar in terms of auto focus. Both like I said either option is great. Great video.

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for the feedback! I figured the 85mm F2 wasn't the best, but I wanted to compare simlar lenses when it comes to price.

      The way the R6 switches between photo and video is very clumsy. Im a hybrid shooter so this is quite important. I prefer the R6 because there is no crop in 60p and this is very useful. Im just wondering if the photo/video switch is going to be a pain

      The one and only reason I didn't buy a R6. Hopefully there next mid market camera fixes this. My D750 has a switch near my thumb that automatically saves your last photo or video settings. So simple cant understand why other camera companies don't do this.

    Can you get rid of the yellow cast in Sony picture profiles? I can see Sony much more yellow on faces. I mean can you correct it in camera? I don't want spend time colour grading. I have Canon M50 and I wish R6 was not overheating and had 30min limit. That is why I am considering Sony a7iv, plus they have sigma 24-70 2.8 for reasonable price too.

      Thank you! Glad you like my setup.
      I can't remember exactly which model I used for the shot of myself in this specific video, but it probably was the A7 IV. This is the camera I've been using for all my recent videos, first with the FE 35mm 1.8 (including this comparison) until very recently when I switch to the 35mm 1.4 GM.
      Previously, I mainly used the A7 III.
      The various shots of the products from above are taken with the A6400, which is rigged to a Manfrotto Autopole and I always leave it there. I have the 16-55mm F2.8 mounted on that, which is good to zoom in or out depending on how large the product is. I'm not super keen on the lens to be fair, there can be a lot of CA to deal with if I shoot at F2.8. I may change it if I can find something better. Previously I was using the 18-105mm F4, but I had a lot of focus issues with that lens.
      The main light on me is the Sophiez Led Light SO-28TD by Falcon Eyes. Then I have two small Aputure Amaran AL-F7 for the overhead shots. Not the greatest lights you can find, but they do the job. I work in a very small space so I had to choose small and lightweight equipement. Everything is set around and above my desk, so I just have to turn on everything and start recording.
      In the background, there are two Philips LED strip lights (the cheap ones, not the fancy ones). They work ok as long as you select certain colours, and work at the brightest setting, otherwise they flicker.

    Very thorough comparison and much appreciated. One question: this may be a little outside of the interest of most hybrid shooters, but one complaint about the R6 is that you cannot record video in the All-I codec, but rather only IPB, which apparently is much more difficult to edit, and can be very slow going even on a normally capable computer. You need to generate proxies of R6 video files in order to edit them in a time-efficient manner. Do you know how does the Sony A74 video types compare in this respect? Thanks.

    • @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons
      @MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons  2 года назад +1

    • @AbdonPhirathon
      @AbdonPhirathon 2 года назад

      Canon’s lenses are more expensive than Sony’s. Unless your objective is to adapt EF lenes to the R6, Sony’s E-Mount is considerably more mature with a plethora of third party options at prices that even Canon’s EF lenses simply cannot compete in.

  • @NatalieZii

    I don't think Sony's colors for people are bad. I think they're terrible for landscapes though. I personally hate Sony greens. They are very artificial and not true to life. Yet despite knowing this and wanting to switch away from Sony, I just invested in a Sony AR7iii over the R6 because I wanted the better resolution and cheaper lens selection x-x. Very much hoping I can fix the greens in camera with some color shifting as it's a major ick for me.
