When someone linked this and I saw the title, I thought to myself "I wonder if this is Stuff Made Here or Michael Reeves". Welcome to the mad engineer family, son.
I love inventions just for the sake of inventing! This is both impressive and completely useless. I love it! I'd absolutely buy one of these for no reason that to alarm guests.
It's nice to see so many positive comments on RUclips (for once?!) Leave some *love* for this project on our blog: www.raspberrypi.org/blog/this-clock-really-really-doesnt-want-to-tell-you-the-time/

Good idea, but bad execution. An improvement would be to have a permanent magnet (able to bear the clocks weight) with a coil that cancels it out. So when you look at the clock, it pulses the coil so, it just falls down, like its mounting failed just at the exact time you looked at it. When you make it knocks itself down, it kind of gives away the joke, making it no longer fun. Like this, when someone (unaware of the modification) looks at the clock and it starts trying to jump off the nail, it becomes obvious the clock has been modified to do this. If you instead do so it just falls down, it will become kind of "shocking experience" for this person that just thinks "Did that clock hang soo loose it just fell down at the moment I looked at it?" and it will become a fun joke that people will still be unaware of later on if they never look at the back of the clock. And if you hide the circuity with a backplate the joke can even be repeated again and again and again and people wont suspect anything haha.
"As you can see....it kinda looks like a bomb..." Ok, so I thought this was one of the funniest uses of a RPi. Then watching your video, I realized this is worth every minute you spent on it. And I NEED one in my life. And trust me, I see bigger things in your life. Just you realizing how cool this idea is lets me know you're going to make more greatness, and probably soon. I've shown this video to a few people, and their response is usually "why would you want that?". My response has been "why _wouldn't_ you want that?!?". Keep it up
Huh I didn't think about that. Iv'e already taken some of it apart because I need some parts (like my webcam) but I guess that would be a way to make more content without work so yeah thanks for the idea I will do that.
A Jesus statue that bleeds when you look at it! A creepy painting who's eyes look at you when you look at it! A mirror that tells you what it really thinks when you look at it! (The first one is weird but it was my first idea. I know.... bizarre.)
Imagine hiring someone and going;
“And one more thing. Don’t look at the clock, it’s shy.”
Clock: "What's my purpose?"
Burke: "You jump off the wall when somebody looks at you."
Clock: "Oh my God."

Thank you! Useless stuff is the most fun to make because you're purely doing it to make something.
If you're not familiar with the concept of Chindōgu, I'd say that this definitely falls under that category. Well done!
Wow! This is literally the perfect word for what I've done.
It *falls* under that category - pun intended? :D
I like this Micheal Reeves vibe
I love this idea so much. If it was stealthy enough to pass as a normal clock to someone holding it, you could really mess with people 😂
You're gonna go a long way, kid. Keep it up!
Hi Burke, we like this! We'll be sharing it on our blog soon...

Oh my gosh! I don't know how I missed this. Thank you so much!

LinkedIn likes me too? how so. Isn't that a job hunting website. 😊
I'd be interested in both a mark 2 that's more durable, and an alarm clock version that jumps away when you reach for it.

You’ve taken the saying “1 step forward, 2 steps back” to a concept aligned to Murphy’s Law
I think you are right you have peaked! Your comedy is genius!
Discount Michael Reeves. Good.

Absolutely brilliant!
thats a great idea. like the gmm shirt aswell 👍
Burke, you are mental and I love it. You are a funny dude. Keep up the good work.
Awesome dude, gonna have to build this for my wall of random clocks I'm working on! 🤘
you have no idea how close your project resembles most production systems. Held together by the finest of margins.
this is the best practical joke ever
Edit this down to a RUclips short/tik tok it could do numbers. Nice invention
a clock which can turns on Self destruct mode when someone look at it
Amazing! You are the future Elon Musk!
Could you make a detailed video on how to make this
Huh I didn't think about that. Iv'e already taken some of it apart because I need some parts (like my webcam) but I guess that would be a way to make more content without work so yeah thanks for the idea I will do that.
The "next up" video for me is "how to fix a quartz clock" LOL
A+ ... love it. Nice work.
this clock gets me. It really does
Nice work, Burke!
Your whit is just my style. You're like a mechanical electroboom. Keep up the videos.
lol this is hilarious! Nice one!
BRILLIANT!!! Good editing too. And "it's not a bomb...I promise".
bro I almost spit my coffee out at your edit at 0:35 lmfao, instant sub!
This is amazing... but also, your Pi still isn't getting enough volts, the red light keeps turning off.
Yeah it kept crashing while I was using it.
Would be cool for a haunted house
WELL DONE!
Very cool! You got something to do something. Better outcome than most of my projects :) Keep doing you!
Thank you!
GET THIS BOY SOME GLUE STICKSSSSS!!!
Subscribed to see your progress! Keep it up man!
Thanks I can't wait to keep working on more projects!
Remember the phrase: "It's Not a Bug, It's a Feature."
(or maybe that's already your design philosophy. I dunno...)
Peak internet on display here, good stuff
That's pretty cool. I surprised that a young man Burke's age can read an analog clock. I know several 18ish-23 yo who can't.
cool clock ahmed
Nice! I want one!
man you're a fucking genius lol
Hope you get featured on hackaday as well

Love it 😁
I wish he could design a steering wheel that doesn't fly out of my hands when I am driving.
I like my Mother In Law :(
this is really off the wall
If you want the explanation video it's right here: ruclips.net/video/9_cEy_140XU/видео.html&t
I'm over a year late, but please let me buy this clock. I am very serious. I want this.
ETHAN. I took it apart like 8 months ago. Tsk tsk tsk should've been sooner. I would've definitely sold it to you though.
ahh thanks ahh
Oh no, another Michael to conquer the earth in a few years with a laser baby
maybe he'll actually release videos on a somewhat normal cadence
I want one
Genius
I am exactly like a genius, minus the genius part.
A+
Hilarious
allah clock

You're a funnier Michael Reeves XD
haha don't know about that
This is crime and the guy should get arrested, image someone implementing it to an airplane...
