Just got a 500 gig ssd and followed your tutorial and I'm up and running with plenty of space thanks Po
BRO! Awesome video!!!!! Thank so much for this! You're so awesome for sharing your passion and dropping gems on us!!!!!
Just bought Key 61 last weekend, and decided to add a Samsung 1TB 870 EVO SSD. This video helped me get it in, formatted and recognized by the MPC -- thanks! (I had to convert the drive to a Dynamic drive with Windows Disk Management, before I could name the Volume and format it to exFAT). Your tip on Controller mode really helped thanks brother!
Yep, just ordered a 1TB today, upfront. Waiting for my MPC 61 Key to be shipped fom Sweetwater. Thanks for the video Poli!!!!! I was thinking that we could use a 7200 External HardDrive. Glad I watched the video.
Thank you so much. Very helpful.
This was definitely helpful for me with installing my sad. Thanks a lot
You're a good man Poli, cheers! 👊🧡👍
Thank You 🙏
Thanks a lot, just bought 3 days ago a mpc key 61 and a ssd and ask myself how to make that work... now it does, thanks to your video.
Awesome 💯 🎶 🫡 glad I could help
Thank you, this was helpful!
Just gave my son my new MPC ONE PLUS. Was about to pop on the MPC X SE, but thinking that Key 61 actually has 4 GB ram anyway. I mean, I could add a 2TB SSD to the Key 61 and have an insane amount of room for custom multisampled instruments!
For a Mac it is recommended to format using ExFAT. You can also purchase a SSD to USB cable and connect it to your Mac and format it. You can then open up the MPC Studio 2 software and export all your expansions directly to the SSD. And then you just pop it into your MPC and your golden.
I don't know if you know how to explode a plugin yet but I just went down to the pencil down on the program and then click on bounce sample then I went to browse then sample assign
old that's on the mlcx new update
I e tried sample seq sample track and program. I am going to re install update with wireless off and see if it helps. Thank You 🙏 💯 🎶
@@PoliPopo ok cool and thanks for all the insight you give
@@jameswilson1608 thank You 🙏
Big thanks, I/we surely appreciate your rambling on the product and potential early deal breaker problems. MPC AKAI would have never said immediately replace the internal drive with one 10x the size. Those little tidbits just brought my interest back to the table. At least i know what's up. Nowaday, from a company perspective, the Public is the BEST BETA Tester money can buy. That's a shame. Thanks, I'll refer back to this video for setting up mine soon.
Now im convince on getting a mpc keys. Whole time i didnt think it was possible. Guess imma get a live and save up for keys 🙏🔥
Live is awesome and works 💯 with the keys 🎹
Good upload!! I was shole sced
Dope video bro
Thank You so much 💯 🎶
We should definitely chop it up sometime I’m usually off on Sunday and Monday I definitely watch your channel I like your approach 💯
@@PoliPopo yeah we will soon man and I also appreciate you thanks.
YOU SAVED MY ASS THIS VIDEO REALLY WAS MY LAST HOPE THANKS
💯 🫡
Because I've watched plenty of your videos during the updates and it seems like a pain. So over the air updates just like you do with your cell phone would be great. And if you can't do it that way, that's what Akai needs to do next.
great stuff as always Poli, i just worry that the bit at 4:20 will confuse people into thinking storing projects on their internal hard drive will affect their RAM.
NICE!! Mr. P...what's the exfat all about? And how do I name and use it?
Thanks I've had a drive in my X for almost 2 year mad cause I don't see it. Didn't know about the formatting step
Yussir disk manager and format to exfat 💯
I put it in controller mode without the software running It also looking for a computer and the computer will pick up the drive
Love the video! My mpc key61 started having an issue when sometimes when I boot it up my internal drive will not show up any suggestions?
I was just watching your second MPC 61 video when this notification popped up. I appreciate your knowledge and willingness to educate the community.
I have one question. People keep saying that it’s better to get a MPC Live2 or MPC One and midi controller. My question is would you get the same workflow options within the software of either of those MPCS that you do in the MPC key 61?
Exact same
But the keys have everything all put together in one package so you don’t have scatter clutter in your studio,Hasn’t touched up with a lot of fx Comes with the new plug-ins which sound OK it has more memory but yeah you can buy any midi keyboard you want to hook it up to an MPC 1X or live and get the same results I just like that is nice and clean.
I’m definitely going to make a comparison video here real soon now that I’m done with all the updating
@@PoliPopo Thank you for answering my question. I don’t own an MPC product other than MPC Beats. I’ve been eye balling the MPCX forever but I wanted to see what the general thoughts were about the MPC Key 61. The MPCX is my dream machine but the all in one aspect of the Key 61 is crazy attractive. I look forward to your comparison video(s). 🙏🏿💪🏿👊🏿
I can't stress enough HOW important it is to get an Internal SSD drive ASAP when you purchase an MPC, just like he says in the video because you WILL run out of SPACE FAST, especially since the MPC Key 61 etc. saves the .WAV sample files that is already in internal memory that you used on your project - WITH each project, and this fills up FAST! I ordered a 1 Terabyte just yesterday.
@Poli Popo - I can't wait till you show us the comparison videos, a lot of people are wondering why AKAI is mentioning "Premium High End ADC/DAC's" on their KEY 61 web-page but doesn't mention ANYTHING about that on the other models, while when you read the MANUALS they clearly specify 24 Bit DAC's on ALL models, is there a difference at all?
Thank You 🙏 and I’ll definitely check into it ASAP
@@PoliPopo Fantastic, and since you own all models (well nearly all), could you remove the screws, check out the DAC brand/IC-number on each so we could look into the Spec-datasheets? And check out the capacitor brands as well, all of this will tell us if they have tossed more money into their "higher end" models like the X and Key61. It'd be a worlds-first, since NO ONE has done this so far, not even the magazines.
@@joonglegamer9898 yeah i'm surprised people haven't been opening up the keys to see if it has any upgraded parts
Can you tell me what new pluggin has the guitar 🎸 sounds? Thanks in advance
Poli, this was highly vital information my brotha. No other You Tube reviewer that I'm aware of ever went into this much detail.
Question I have is, what is the max size SSD drive can you use with the MPC 61?
Again, Thank you so much.
I put a terabyte but I’m sure it will take whatever you give it 💯
SSD, as much as you can afford. LOL.......
how do we use mpc expansions? i added a folder called expansions on the SSD, but the MPC Key 61 is not "recognizing" it....Any suggestions?
Is there a way to load plugins, such as ozone 9 on to a solid state drive and use them in standalone mode?
Can you load FILES with samples via USB drive into MPCKEY61?
I highly suggest that a guy either install the SSD onto the cover using the 4 screws or put foam between the cover ad SSD drive to avoid it banging around in the unit.
Probably a good idea but it does fit and they’re pretty snug but yeah better safe than sorry 100
Thanks for the video. But tell me the keyboard has Wi-Fi so can you update your product over the air?
Yussir
@@PoliPopo thanks brother 🤟🏾
Great video. Can the RAM be upgraded more than 4 GB? Thanks
I don’t think so
I know on the x live you cannot
How i can upgrade the Ram in my MPC Key 61? I need 128GB, 4GB is not enough! Thank You
How do I download mpc expansions on the mpc key 61?
Do you know what I’m gonna have to deal with I’m gonna put 2 tb in the X and 2 tb in the keys but from time to time I’m gonna want to move projects from one to the other I’m wondering if using the USB and or Wi-Fi I can do that on the computer that would be very handy!
I use a usb drive but you can always put your Mpc in controller mode and drag files where you want them 💯 WiFi would be nice but usb is the way I do it for now.
@@PoliPopo i’ve got a few good flash drives I could use that is absolutely awesome. Thank you for the advice. I’ll try to do my own due diligence and figure out the process. I appreciate you brother. Talk to you soon by the way, I just got home from work and took my 61 keys out the box I’ll be registering it and activating all my plug-ins later on this evening.!
If I already formatted a SSD for my Live 2 & just transferred it to my MPC Key 61 should I be good? Or will I need to re-format it on the Key?
Easy swap 💯
@@PoliPopo Sweet!
I followed your instructions to a T, but an option to format the disk is not showing up anywhere. What am I doing wrong?
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you but if you plug in your Mpc to the computer and put it in controller mode without the software running, the drive, should pop up and you can format it as fat 32 or X fat 32. I hope this helps.
@Poli Popo no problem. I figured it out shortly after I sent the message. Thanks bro!
For SSD...Crucial.
Hey question where did you purchase the solid state drive ?
Walmart bestbuy or office max 💯 any computer store just ask for Samsung solid state internal hard drive. A terabyte should be 💯 🔥
Or Amazon.
And a classical HDD which is cheaper than a ssd ?
Should work 💯
Thanks Poli for you return; Finallly I bought a 1 Terabyte ssd.
Maybe I'm a bit confused (I'm totally new to the Akai world), but I see that in order to format the internal disk in the Akai you did the connection to the computer (which takes a long time🥺) : There is not a direct function within the MPC Key to format the disk ? And there are some people who installed their disk and it was directly recognized (?); Is it best to format using ExFAT ? (sorry for my mewbie questions)
Looks bad. I think of Dr. Smith from Lost In Space quoted as saying "Oh, the Pain!"
Bro got the sticky icky
😝
How does a person create a video in the year 2022 that looks like it was produced in 1982?! 🤨
Complete with that cliche background hiss from an A/C unit or something. The only thing missing were the tracking lines scrolling up the video! 😂
Funny but very true I will get better but thanks for watching
@@PoliPopo NO! Don't change your style. I like retro!
💯 ❤️
