  • In this RUclips video, I will show you how to install an internal SATA drive on your MPC X, MPC Live, MPC Live II, or MPC Key 61. This will allow for more more storage space for "Splice" samples, expansion packs and large projects.
I will also check that the drive is properly installed and is formatted so the MPC can write to it using a Mac or PC in computer mode
The format that I chose for this drive was exFAT
FAQ: The MPC Key 61 has its own embedded system which sports a quad-core ARM processor and 4GB of RAM. For internal storage, the MPC Key 61 has 32GB onboard. There are 10GB of studio-quality sounds pre-loaded and another 6GB for you to work with. You can use the 2 onboard USB ports to add more samples or to provide extra storage. There is also a compartment on the bottom of the MPC Key 61 which houses a SATA port for installing an optional HDD or SDD.

Seen a few of these installations, can’t fathom out why people don’t mount the drive to the plate before screwing the plate back down…? You could also format the drive before installing it as well👍
