Hats off to Mr. Vince Mendoza and the WDR BIG BAND and the WDR FUNKHAUSORCHESTER, the sound engineers, lighting crew and everyone involved. Studying Musicians, we grew up with Mr. Mayfield it's so sad and Ironic that the conductor would mention that the audience would only recognize, "Super Fly?" This is "Black Classical Music!" Curtis Lee Mayfield (June 3, 1942 - December 26, 1999) was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer, and one of the most influential musicians behind soul and politically conscious African-American music.[5][6] Dubbed the "Gentle Genius",[7][8] he first achieved success and recognition with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted group the Impressions during the civil rights movement of the late 1950s and the 1960s and later worked as a solo artist. Mayfield started his musical career in a gospel choir. Moving to the North Side of Chicago, he met Jerry Butler in 1956 at the age of 14, and joined the vocal group The Impressions. As a songwriter, Mayfield became noted as one of the first musicians to bring more prevalent themes of social awareness into soul music. I once believed Mr. Mayfield never fully received the acclaim he deserves. Never again can I say Curtis’ genius hasn’t been fully recognized and appreciated. This outstanding and masterful orchestral tribute to him has forever changed all of that for me. Agreed. This tribute paid great homage. It is ALMOST as good as the original. I remember listening to this album as a child. Laying on the floor next to the speakers of our component set absorbing every minute, flawless chord and harmony. Curtis Mayfield like Isaac Hayes was masterful in his music production. Curtis Mayfield entered my life when i was 16 in Omaha, Nebraska. Big Brother Tim had an album collection like no other. Hen i heard the album Superfly….his voice….i was smitten for life. I’m now 66 and i’m still moved everytime……

Ledesi said that she was thinking about quitting the business and then she received a call from "CHAKA" to open for her on some tours. I'm thankful that "Sista KHAN" has the innate ability to hear genius. Child Ledesi can simply sang!!!

I grew up in America every Friday n Saturday listening to Curtis Mayfied, Bobby Womack, Tyrone Davis, Areatha, Gladys Knight n the pips n other great soul singers. This was real soul music back them. My mom n Dad this kind of music is all they listen to. Great memory rip Mom n Dad. My mom loved Curtis Mayfield music. I was a kid but I loved the superbly album. I still know most of it word for word. I’m here singing now!! The band, orchestra. Leda I, Bilal, n everyone was great here. I really enjoyed the tribute ❤❤❤

Laying on the floor next to the speakers of our component set absorbing every minute, flawless chord and harmony. Curtis Mayfield like Isaac Hayes was masterful in his music production. I grew up in America every Friday n Saturday listening to Curtis Mayfied, Bobby Womack, Tyrone Davis, Areatha, Gladys Knight n the pips n other great soul singers. This was real soul music back them. My mom n Dad this kind of music is all they listen to. Great memory rip Mom n Dad. My mom loved Curtis Mayfield music. I was a kid but I loved the superbly album.
