    As an F430 owner - having had mine for 7 years now - I will concur with other comments about the steering feel. There is nothing wrong with it at all, however it is greatly affected by tires, particularly age and condition.
    When I first had mine I noticed it felt a little odd at the helm. While the tyres still had good tread they were still the originals that it came out of the factory with in 2008 (I took ownership in 2014). So at 6 years old they were way past there best.
    I had new tires fitted and the difference was night and day !
    Moving on a few years to 2016 I then carried out a few mods. When it was in for service I had the dealership install Scuderia Springs & Spring Pads. Then set the whole suspension up as per Scud - ride height, tracking, camber etc. This totally transformed the steering feel again, with the nose being even more eager to obey the helm. This was even more noticeable on a track !
    Lastly, with mine being a late 2008 model, the F1 gearshift & behaviour is superb. I took to it like a duck to water from day one, and have no complaints about it's operation either up or down the the gears. And at 22,000 miles it's still on its original clutch !

    Thanks for the review, your channel is really great! I own a F430 F1 Spider and fully agree to the comments you gave. The steering is indeed not the best part of the car and the music it makes can be too loud once and a while. We use it a lot for road trips through Europe and in that case it can be exhausted. But...., the good stuff is indeed the visibility, the performances, the seat comfort, the ergonomics and those brakes. Overall a real good useable sportswear

    Some very interesting points brought up in this video. All of your dislikes are just a few days of effort to correct. The seperation of the soft suspension is easy to accomplish and can be retrofitted. The quiet modes for Manetino I will do in next firmware update. Now on the steering, it's exactly same components as a 360 which you liked better. Actually I discovered after countless time on the track and during R&D how sensitive the helm is to tyres, ride height rake (differential of height between front and rear for polar movement) and of ofcourse camber and toe. I run zero degrees of front toe and it really wakes up the responses. I'll talk to Aldous and get all these points addressed and you can hopefully drive it again in more favourable conditions. Plus if you get chance drive my beast, it's quite a bit different than any 360 you're ever likely to drive on the open road. I think you'll love it because it's very much "Lotus" in ethos with huge weight savings over stock. Are you up for it?

    • @JayEmmOnCars
      @JayEmmOnCars  3 года назад +2

      Always Trev, although I do have concerns about cars which have so much stripped from them as I find they can be a somewhat tiring exercise to drive - but very keen to see how yours peforms

    • @360trev
      @360trev 3 года назад +2

      @@JayEmmOnCars excellent we will get in arranged in the new year. I engineered the car to be a kind of Challenge Stradale RS, so if you think of the CS being equivalent to GT3 mine is the GT3 RS. I hate understeer so mine is very much focused on steering feel and handling. The weight reduction has not made the car darty, its still very much designed to flow with the road. It's not got harsh suspension, when @seenthroughglass Sam drove it he likened it to feeling like a 600LT. High praise indeed.. It does feel quite different due to all kinds of subtle improvements like lightweight flywheel so it revs like a racing bike, etc. I think you'll be surprised 😁 might even change your opinion of modified Ferrari's. Haha on suspension points all 360s and F430s came with fully adjustable system for both ride height and obviously geo so how they feel is extremely sensitive to setup.

    • @Rosso456MGT
      @Rosso456MGT 3 года назад +2

      Equally and in addition to Trev - try driving my ‘standard’ F430 which was optioned with every light weight carbon option from the factory except the super rare carbon bonnet. The F430 was the first ferrari that was deeply configurable to the point where two cars can be very very different. Some are luxury orientated, others more sporting in their spec. They don’t have to be stripped to achieve that either. My car is fully carpeted and soundproofed yet weighs less than a scuderia.

      @360trev 3 года назад +1

      @@Rosso456MGT good post. Well done for owning such a good spec. Don't forget you could also do these lightweight upgrades on the Scud too to the point it could be lighter than a CS but it was very rare because it was so expensive to do. However no matter which way you cut it there was only so far Ferrari where willing to bend on the V8 personalisations. You couldn't for instance spec an incornel exhaust to save weight, or sports cats or a full sound deadening delete, or aircon delete, or lithium ion battery (15kg alone on that one), or lightweight racing flywheel, etc. Etc. So while it's fantastic you could do this and I do encourage Ferrari and others to do much more in this space rather than just add more power, it's still possible to go much much further than factory and still "feel" like a factory product..

    Fantastic review! I love the second bump of power at 5K+ rpms. F430s are a bargain right now

    Loving that intro.......
    Reminded me of a futuristic type of Blade Runner/Terminator with a road movie thrown in just for good measure.
    Happy Christmas everyone 👍

    Ha Ha that intro was very Miami Vice, driving over the causeway at night. The F430 is still one of my favorites, come close to buying one several times, my neighbor has a red 16M Spider and I love that thing. I consider it the last good NA mid-engined one, I hate the 458, think it is pig ugly, no idea why people like that thing so much? My favorite things on the F430 were the wing mirrors and the quad taillights. As time has passed though I am starting to like the 355 more. My list would start from the F430 at the bottom, then the 355, then the Testarossa and then the F12 at the top for attainable Ferraris.

    Nice review. Lovely sound and my 2004 Celica used to do that odd reverse interior beeping not sure why manufacturers think it helps.

    I was 13/14ish when this car came out. This was THE FERRARI that made me fall in love with them. This was my poster car.

    Nice video James. I do know what you mean about having those 2 cars on the driveway (550 and 430) that’s what I have, and it’s the perfect combination to me !!

    This video confirms what I already knew, the 430 is still my fav V8 Fezza.
    Had an option to buy a 2006 model 430 Spider with manual for €90k here in Ireland in back in 2011. Buying is one thing, running another, €5k clutches scared me, so I passed. My biggest car mistake.
