@@dokedoker3340 I thought QB school was pretty harsh on Sam - there was a lot more good than bad. He had one horrible pick, but also threw for 300+ yds.
I think the main thing about Sam is the type of throws he's making and his competitive edge. Fitting the ball into tight spaces, throwing more and more with anticipation, extending plays, being mobile. If he gets no better, he's an adequate starting QB, but this is his first season. If he can iron out some of the inconsistencies, he could become a top 10 QB and therefore a franchise QB. Add that into the fact we haven't had a QB in forever, you can see why the fanbase is getting excited.
I completely agree. That “Roughing the Passer” call was one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen. But, it’s great that our Defense showed up at the end to win the game.
Let alone the no pi on Dyami towards the end. Looked like the Brady days 🙄
@@Psyfi85 I think there was just bad officiating all around. Refs were trash to both of our teams, I think it was Demario Douglas who got his whole head and neck whipped back the other direction on a blatant face mask that didn’t get called. But I also have to agree, that roughing the passer call was ridiculous. I’m biased as a pats fan but I think we all tend to pay more attention to the calls/no-calls that go against our teams. I often have to check myself when I’m complaining about refs lol.
Bottom line though, y’all beat us fair and square and Sam Howell is that guy in Washington, he’s gonna be great in the near future.
@@brianmitchell22 very true, officials league wide have been sub par for years. I guess in making the game safer they’ve kind of made officiating more difficult. Yeah it’s hard not to be biased I agree 🙂 and yes, I do believe Sam is the future, just need to protect him.

Agreed but it’s also good to know he’s the most sacked/pressured qb in the league but keeps fighting and improving. Let’s hope they use these draft picks to solidify that line.
Been a Washington fan since 1974 seen a lot of good and a lot of bad QBs. I like Sam and the thing that pleases me the most is his mental makeup. Doesn’t let mistakes get him down, takes the blame without being asked to, and growing by the game.

It’s because they kind of screwed him year 2. Mac has the same problem as Tua, can’t go through his progressions, and if a defense can throw off his timing then he’s terrible.
It doesnt help that the Pats’ receiving corps is bad, so timing becomes even more important. Mac could be solid if New England somehow lands a good no1 receiver like Kupp, Diggs, or Jefferson, etc.

Refs have been incredibly awful this season. Most likely cause they’re betting on games and fixing outcomes

I think consensus on the Int is that Howell was anticipating Thomas going out and he went in. In any case, he shouldn't have thrown it. Also thanks for pointing out that Ron should have called a TO. He had three, and three downs to get the TD. There was no reason to rush that play.

A reason to consider Ronald Rivera is on his way out. At the beginning of the season home tickets were selling out to fans thanks to Josh Harris. Rivera ruined that in a month. Rivera would have to make a Super Bowl run to keep his job, and even then I'd still fire him.

I gave him a b+ for his performance, but after seeing film breakdown from other sites, I'm gonna give him a B-. A huge thing he needs to fix is his footwork in the pocket, too many times he puts himself in harms way with his feet. And it affected more throws than it should have.
Trust me though I was way impressed with so many of his plays, but the pick in the endzone, cant have that. That being s aid though, the sacks he took earlier hasn't affected his confidence and footwork to the point where he's having happy feet, like allegedly Bryce Young is being reported to be having and he's suffered 15 fewer sacks in Carolina.
He's our guy but there are still things he can clean up. Also the WR's on many reps looked lost on their routes, how to run them and what they were doing.. They need some serious coaching up. Like the TD pass to Dotson, who are the other receiver that was in the vicinity?? Had no business being there, also releases at the line of scrimmage with certain route combinations. Too much film looked way too bad..

I’ve been saying we got the best QB in the 2022 draft since the 2022 pre season. I’m glad you’ve seen the light but it’s been obvious he looked like a 5 year vet when they let him start and play the entire game during the last preseason game of 2022. Even when Brock Purdy was doing his thing I was telling their fans we have a guy who’s better. And with all that being said a franchise QB isn’t necessary our history proves it.
That was a different era. Look at the Super Bowl winning QBs since free agency became the way it is now and very very few teams have won it all without a Franchise QB. A franchise QB is essential if you want to increase your odds of winning a SB.
@@josephringling769 since free agency Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Joe Flacco, and Nick Foles have won Super Bowls. Ravens did it twice. Had the Ravens left Trent Dilfer as their starter they probably would have repeated.

This is very much like Norv Turners time here we scored a lot of points and lost.But it still goes back to decisions about personnel during the offseason after the playoff loss to the Bucs. BTW I watched two Journeymen QB’s outshine John Elway and Jim Kelly in Super Bowls. Championship teams are like cars they don’t build them how they used to except Philly, and SF. That’s why they keep rolling no matter who the QB is. When you have a dominant Oline and dominant run game your QB doesn’t have to be great because he doesn’t have to make hard throws. If we had built an offense for Heinicke we would be Super Bowl contenders right now with Sam but the over emphasis on the QB position caused them to neglect some serious issues, and the guys here seem to have an idea in their head about what a football player should look like instead of just playing the guys who make plays.

I predicted this would happen. Not because of who Sam Howell is but because who Washington is. Future prediction. Draft a Tackle this year, Brissett will start till he gets injured, Howell will come in when the season is nearly lost and stink prompting Washington to draft a QB in the 1st round of 2025. Washington is a very very predictable team.
Definitely the future if you want a whole lot of 8-9 seasons!
