    Hard to say this is the worst managed, cursed is the better word. The Charlotte Hornets and Wizards are worse. The Clips are the unluckiest for sure. That move for PG13 was very short-sighted without contemplating the long-term consequences. When they had PG and Kawhi, the roster they put around them was pretty decent, so its hard to say its the worst managed. Its just Kawhi and PG kept getting injured....and the two best shots they had at a title were hampered by something. In 2020, it was Doc River's shitty coaching decisions. In 2021, it was Kawhi's injury.
    The big thing I'm going to fault them for is keeping Doc Rivers in 2020. That was a terrible management decision considering his reputation even back in the day.

    No, they're not. I wish people could distinguish between process and results. Sometimes you try something and it doesn't work. It doesn't mean it was wrong to try it.
    Poorly managed is adding Bradley Beal to Phoenix when he solves none of your issues and eliminates your ability to add depth. Poorly managed is when you hang onto Beal for five years too long and give him a no-trade clause like Washington did. Poorly managed is whatever the hell the Chicago Bulls are doing. Poorly managed is when the PROCESS doesn't make sense. Adding PG and Kawhi to a team with quality depth was not bad process.
    A year ago, everyone was slamming the Wolves for trading for Gobert. But now they make a WCF and suddenly it's a great move? It's so silly to judge everything on results when there's so much luck and health involved.

    • @brushylake4606
      @brushylake4606 6 месяцев назад +2

      You're absolutely right. Trying and failing isn't necessarily indicative of bad management. However, the Clippers ignored evidence that could have allowed them to avoid their current mess.
      Look at the injury and his actions with the Spurs. If he and his people were right, he was a damaged asset that wouldn't ever be reliable and would go downhill quickly. If the Spurs were correct, he was putting himself first and ignoring his teammates, his contractual obligations, and the desires of the organization and fans. So, the Clippers knew they were getting either a part time player or someone who wasn't team first.
      Either way, go ahead and sign him, but don't structure your team's future to placate him. Kawhi is a historically great and historically flawed player; both of those facts were apparent before they signed him. The Clippers thought they were getting MJ, but they actually signed Sam Bowie.

Yes, they never won anything and they have underperformed. but to say they are the worst manage team is so crazy. You look at teams like the Hornets and Pistons and still day that. Worst isn't a reflection of purely results, but considering the talent they've had, the hype they've garnered, and their future prospects, yes, they definitely are in the running for "worst managed franchise". If for nothing else, being so desperate that they caved to Kawhi's demands to get PG demonstrated their weakness. Then signing the two most overrated players in NBA history (Harden and Westbrick) were bad. Now, they straight up picked Harden and Kawhi over PG.
      They should have signed Kawhi to a contract that had heavy incentives, given PG a better contract option and let Harden go. Now, they've got two guys that are famous for coming up short when they're needed the most.

    • @joeafarias
      @joeafarias 6 месяцев назад

      @@brushylake4606 feel pretty confident that every team would have made the deal to get both Kawhi and PG. Of course they have always underdelivered but not because of management. It has been injuries to Blake, CP, Kawhi, and PG. They signed Westbrook for the minimum, bad take to say that's a bad signing. I do think the Harden trade felt a bit forced. But again, what does management do? Stay mediocre for the past 13 years? NBA is a players league, teams always meet their demands. This isn't the NFL. So you think the Clippers would have been better off being a bad/mediocre team over the past decade than make the trades they made? Most teams aren't built through the draft anymore..other than maybe the Celtics with JB and Tatum, most teams are made through trades and free agent signing. So I don't think the future has been sacrificed.

    Little known fact to many that aren’t Spurs fans.
    The team’s doctors were actually correct in diagnosing his degenerative knee injury. And they said he is eligible to play because there is literally nothing you can do about it. He not only went to go to another doctor who told him the SAME thing but a third as well. All the while keeping quiet and letting uncle Dennis and his entourage rile up the media and start this unnecessary hate against the organization.
    To this day, I still don’t think Kawhi is the type to sit out. All of his scouting reports coming into the draft and of his former teammates say he is a gym rat. Loves the game. Clippers have to be considering some sort of trade at this point to recoup their losses.

    That trade was made to acquire an NBA champion coming off an all time playoff run, and a guy who'd just finished in the top 3 of MVP and DPOY-a team that's historically one of the league's worst makes that deal 10/10 times. Clippers biggest failures that killed this team is the lack of effort in drafting. 2019 clippers took Kabengele over Claxton, Poole, Keldon. 2021 took Preston over herb jones and Ayo. 2023 which was the biggest mistake is passing up GG Jackson.
    It shows that building through the draft and not always doing fancy moves is the way to build a team.. clippers was just flat out reckless
