This is one of Eddie Murphy's most underrated films. Gets overshadowed by his other 80s movies like 48 hours, Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2, Trading Places, and Coming to America.
Anyone else recognize the two prominent Asian actors who portrayed adversaries in Big Trouble in Little China?? I forgot the guy who played Tommy Tong was one of the three Storms as well
Hey lovely ladies. This is a great selection. One of my childhood favorites. I literally use to watch it everytime "Showtime and The Movie Channel" showed it. My repeat rotations were: Mannequin, Big trouble and little china and The Golden Child.
This is my favorite Eddie movie. he had such a great run from the 80s to the early 80s that critics came down hard on this movie but i always liked it and now its a cult classic
Achara and Kristen are so sweet and when Kristen "snorts", that's it for me,nothing makes me laugh more than that, she feels so much emotion at both ends of the spectrum,Humour or saddness,it's 100% all in from her..My two favorite reactors.
The Golden Child was Eddie Murphy's followup to 1984's Beverly Hills Cop from 1986. He took a year off from movies to record his first music album How Could It Be which featured the single "Party All the Time" in 1985. The song, "Best Man In the World" heard during the opening credits was written by John Barry who had written several of the James Bond theme songs. The song was sung by Ann Wilson(of Heart fame).
FINALLY! Someone else is reacting to this movie! I remember when this movie came out! My dad took my sister and I to the drive in to see it. I was 7 years old. I’ve seen it many many years.
I remember seeing this as a kid, and thinking it was very exciting. I was thoroughly entertained. It sits along other movies like Abyss as great movies I watched at birthday parties.
Fun fact: the voice of the demonic entity is Frank Welker, one of the best and most prolific in the voice acting community. He’s used the same voice for Dr. Claw in the original Inspector Gadget animated series and for the Cave of Wonders in Disney’s Aladdin, among others.
@@russellh.3150 possibly but Frank was in nearly everything. Any movie that had an odd vocalization in it somewhere, they usually had him do it. Remember that 90s Jim belushi buddy-cop movie “K9” where the other cop was a cranky old German Shepard? All the weird sounds the dog made was actually Frank. Aliens, animals, demons, he did them all. They didn’t have computers to help make all the weird noises back in the day so they had Frank do nearly all of them and before him the famous Mel Blanc did lots of that stuff up through the 70s at least.
Thanks you two! Love the reaction to a childhood favorite. Also, Achara, you should start making up wild and sordid confessions and divulge them to Kristen and see how long it takes her to betray your secrets on camera.
Dont smoke the scrolls 😂😂😂😂I love this movie throwback to when I was a kid had it on VHS 😂. Awesome show there ladies 👏 Keep up the terrific work 👏 👌 👍 😀
Yes, that is Frank Welker, who first used that voice as Dr. Claw. He must have really liked it, because he later used it for Darkseid in Superfriends and, electronically modified, Soundwave on Transformers. Of course, his signature role is Freddy Jones in the Scooby-Doo franchise.
If you want to watch an underrated movie also featuring Charles Dance, you should watch 'Last Action Hero'. A lot of people hated on it when it came out, but I think it's a pretty fun movie.
GoD i hate my memory. I've watched this a handful of times since I was a kid and don't remember it correctly. I had no idea he found lost children. And I got the Oatmeal with blood in it all wrong.
Charlotte Lewis is absolutely gorgeous. And as for the tone and rest of the cast, there is an overlap with John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China.
When she cries out "I died for you!" Calmly say "Yes, I know Love! And I fought, Conquered a Demon from Hell, and Saved The Golden Child to bring you back to Life. So Shut Up!
Kristen you are my all time favorite watchers on you tube. From your take of Armageddon to the golden child it never falls to make my day. Thanks you guys much love
Just an FYI, the Child cannot use magic to "blast", "take out", or harm anyone/anything. Magic that helps and heals, White Magic, Good. Magic that causes harm, Black Magic, Malevolent/Dark Magic. Which would corrupt the Child.
Every kid who grew up in the 80's and early 90's watched this movie on VHS, cable or ABC. This is a underrated Eddie Murphy gem, apparently it didn't do that good in theaters. But it found an audience on TV and is a cult classic.
I saw this movie in college. The theater was packed and the crowd laughed the whole time. I definitely think the audience reaction impacts your viewing experience and that was a fun experience. I have fond memories of this movie because of that.
This is one of Eddie Murphy's most underrated films. Gets overshadowed by his other 80s movies like 48 hours, Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2, Trading Places, and Coming to America.
But it partially overshadowed Big Trouble In Little China.
Box office wise anyway.
Eddie Murphy hated this movie...I loved it...I lose it every time he says..."What was that..with the FLIP?!"
I like this, I also like "Metro."
@@seanswinton6242 that one was pretty good too.
Why not mention Harlem nights?
Kristen having such a good time gettin Achara she was snort laughing. These 2 together have gotta be my favorite.
I have watched this movie so many times. It never gets old to me. Eddie Murphy is great, but Charles Dance rounds the movie out perfectly.
I had no idea Twin Lannister was in this movie until now
this is my favorite Eddie Murphy movie. I still quote it to this day. "My brother Numsey!" 😂😂😂
Yes!
Eddie Murphy improvised the scene where he jumps the fence and sees the family grilling.
The actor who plays the golden child is actually female. Jasmine Reate. She was my classmate in elementary school.
Saw this movie when I was younger, did not learn that fact until recently
This was (as far as I know) her one and only role.
Anyone else recognize the two prominent Asian actors who portrayed adversaries in Big Trouble in Little China??
I forgot the guy who played Tommy Tong was one of the three Storms as well
Happy to see you ladies reacting to this 80s Eddie Murphy classic the 80s are forever
Leave it to the women to hold the fact that she died for him for the rest of his life 😂😂
Funny reaction. The part with the blood in the oatmeal when I was young totally freaked me out.
Same 🤢
Hey lovely ladies. This is a great selection. One of my childhood favorites. I literally use to watch it everytime "Showtime and The Movie Channel" showed it. My repeat rotations were: Mannequin, Big trouble and little china and The Golden Child.
Wow, forgot about Mannequin. Now I’m reminded of Andrew McCarthy and Less Than Zero 💀
BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA next! It makes a great double feature with THE GOLDEN CHILD!
The "Golden Child" was actually played by actress J.L. Reate.
@marcellhawkins1298 I've seen pictures of her having a reunion with Eddie Murphy, funny to see her all grown up with a full head of hair🤣
Yep! Most people thought she was a boy.
Bet the recent AI-agitprop movie 'The Creator' was an homage to the 'Golden Child'.
Charles Dance was an underrated actor having also appeared in Alien 3 and The Last Action Hero
This is my favorite Eddie movie. he had such a great run from the 80s to the early 80s that critics came down hard on this movie but i always liked it and now its a cult classic
I recommend watching Lean on Me another 80’s classic
Charles Dance made a career of scaring the crap out of me. Also, he would never lower himself to speak american

I like how the evil dude is a tall slender, posh looking guy, and when he turned into his true form he became a demon with a dad-bod :D haha
I loved it when Eddie dj scratched on the post when I saw this in the 80s.
There are so many more 80s gems left to watch.

Nobody does The Golden Child. This is an underrated 80’s classic. Glad you got to it.
An Eddie Murphy sleeper that you will LOVE is "Bowfinger"
Kristen chose violence on this day.
Achara and Kristen are jokes, such a great team.
They need to bring movies like this back!
This was one of my favorite Eddie Murphy movies as a kid. I didn’t know that it had bad reviews until I grew up. I still love it to this day though.
Two of the cast members in this movie played in BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA
James Hong and the late Victor Wong.
The guy with the long hair who wore the raiden hat was in here too
If you like "The Golden Child", you should also watch "Big Trouble In Little China". Both movies had some of the same actors in it.
I saw it as a kid with my older cousins in theater. Always a family rental store favorite too!
Fun fact: the voice of the demonic entity is Frank Welker, one of the best and most prolific in the voice acting community. He’s used the same voice for Dr. Claw in the original Inspector Gadget animated series and for the Cave of Wonders in Disney’s Aladdin, among others.
! Don’t forget Megatron! We love Frank!
Also the voice of Malebolgia in Spawn (1997).
@@turbopokey I SWORE i recognized his voice but couldn't quite place from where. Megatron must be it.

Next time Gadget!. Next time!
This movie is so good to watch & laugh. Fun fact: the horse in the dream Eddie was having wandered in from another set & they left it in the scene.
Awesome show there ladies 👏 Keep up the terrific work 👏 👌 👍 😀
The little boy in the movie is actually a girl. The lead bad guy was the Lannister father from Game of Thrones.
"I saw a nipple!" 😂😂😂 That expression on her face
You gotta watch "Life" "Boomerang" and "Harlem Nights" ASAP. They will have you cryin'.
What. Really. I thought this would never be reviewed. Thank you I love it. My cousin begged me to buy him this hat. Great memories 🎉🎉❤
Yes, Charles Dance did plenty of work as a baddie in the '80s.... but Tywin Lannister made him immortal! ;)
Sweet brother Numsie worked for Dr Claw.

Loved this film and loved your chemistry during the reaction.
Fun fact -The Golden Child was played by a girl with a shaven head. ❤
Finally! More RUclipsrs need to react to The Golden child 🔥
GoD i hate my memory. I've watched this a handful of times since I was a kid and don't remember it correctly. I had no idea he found lost children. And I got the Oatmeal with blood in it all wrong.
"Ki...Dr Hong....NUUMP-SIE has forgiven me!"
😂😂
Wooooooow yall the first RUclips reactors that did this movie
They said Eddie Murphy add- libbed his way through this whole movie!
Wow finally a reactor does a reaction to this great movie what a surprise bravo.

Golden Child came out in 1986
This movie Is an absolute classic.Awesome reaction as always!😎🤙🏾
I saw it when it came out on video, I was around 11 or 12 and I totally loved the movie. In the 80s this movie was awesome!
Great Movie !! Came out the summer I graduated elementary school
"My big mouth needed it!" Oh man, that's so funny. Kristen is hillarious.
Tommy Tong was in Big Trouble in Little China as well.
Yeah, the wind elemental, right? He had the really long hair/wig if I remember correctly.

The Golden Child was a childhood favourite of mine
I love this movie so much!
The guy 16:48 sounds like Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget or Darkseid from Super friends Superpowers in the 80s....🤔
EVERYONE, young and old, watched and loved this movie back in the day guys. Lots of our movies were loved and watched no matter what age you were.
I loved this movie as a child. When the villain turns into a demon it always scared the sh*t out of me! 🤣
You girls are the best team in RUclips channel .... Tanks for all you do ladies....🎉🎉🎉
Yes! More Tanks...! 😄
Eddie should have did a part 2 to this 😅
Watch them try it like with other movies 💀 The Platinum Child
The little boy in this movie is actually a girl IRL 😊
I've always said that this is one of Eddie's most underrated movie's. For me this is an outstanding, very well put together movie.
This movie was released on December 12th 1986.
Now you need to watch the film that The Golden Child competed with in the cinema, Howard the Duck another brilliant very funny comedy action film.
I love The Golden Child
Just an FYI, the Child cannot use magic to "blast", "take out", or harm anyone/anything. Magic that helps and heals, White Magic, Good. Magic that causes harm, Black Magic, Malevolent/Dark Magic. Which would corrupt the Child.
The Golden Child is a classic. That is all.
The movie was actually released in 1986
Fun as Always yall' 😆 I love watching these movies with you two.✌🏾😎
You should react to Bulletproof Monk. Similar vibe as this but even better.
1986 it came out.
14:00 - "We got the PG-13 tatas!!!" - Achara Kirk (2024)
A young Tywin Lannister lmao. Still look evil 😂
This movie is criminally underrated “Ha! HAAAA! I got the knife. Now turn on the gd lights”😂😂
watching berverly hills F, makes me relaize just how easily this could fit into that universe least with him almsot acting like axel.
Great to see this rare movie being reacted to, you girls are hilarious.

Yooo, hardly anyone watches this one. Love it!
I remember trying to make that dancing tin guy out of a soda can when I was younger.
(It was not, as cute)
I love this movie. I always remember we watched it movie day in middle school. Tywin Lanister against Eddie Murphy how an you not like that.
"Remember that time I died for you?"
"Remember that time I saved the world and brought you back to life?"
This was one of my favorite movies growing up. I’m glad you are getting to experience it.
Kristen: "I died for you."
Me: "I fought through hell for you to bring you back"😅

Charlotte Lewis OMG❤❤❤❤
When she said "I saw a nipple" I died because that's a line from Boomerang starring Eddie Murphy!
"Yep. That's a nipple. Because I'm drooling."
One of my favorite childhood movies. Great reaction!!
Finally someone reacts to this classic!
