@@benboat4734 this episode was not about advancing the plot though (which it still did, showing that Ellie relocated and has now given stitches to Joel, actively trying to save him and Joel's still alive). It was about exploring Ellie's character, her background and motivations and setting up certain themes that will pay off later. This was actually one of my favourite episodes so far. Showcasing the moment Ellie discovered she was immune is not nearly as important because it's something we don't have to be shown since we are aware she will end up discovering it and end up jailed by the Fireflies. It also has already been implied throughout the episodes that the two waited out the fungus and Ellie had to kill Riley. It's actually more tasteful to leave it to your imagination when you can perfectly understand what happened without it being blatantly shoved on your nose, in my opinion. It would unnecessarily stretch the episode out. The parallels drawn between Ellie & Riley and Ellie & Joel at the end of the episode were way more relevant, again, in my opinion.
@@benboat4734 this episode was not about advancing the plot, it’s for backstory which riley was mentioned in previous episodes before so of course they are gonna add her in an episode
