    An an existing MX Master user, I really don't understand what they're trying to do here with the 2S. The best way to improve an existing product is to take the points that people complain about the most and fix them, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out what those are on the MX Master either. I think the most complained about feature of the original is the placement on the forward and back buttons, which I think every tech RUclipsr complained about when reviewing the original. Yet strangely they haven't addressed this. They also haven't thought to implement a USB Type-C connector either. It's literally the same mouse with slightly improved battery life and slightly better sensor sensitivity. There's literally no point in even releasing this mouse. it's like an MX Master 1.5

    Bought an Performance MX mouse in early 2009. A decade later it saw me through the end of high school, all of college, and 4 years of working 40-60+ hours a week.
    I've worn most of the pads off the bottom but it still holds a charge on the original Eneloop battery to the point where I might charge it every other week or so.
    Most of the chrome is now shiny or dull black with just a hint of chrome on the top.
    Maybe one of these days I'll replace it with a new Performance MX.

I'd instantly buy a new one if only I could get it for about €60. After ten years the only damage (besides serious signs of usage) is the middle mouse button/scroll wheel button no longer works.

    i just hope they fixed the scroll wheel issue. Smartshift would make it stuck inbetween modes, making it very annoying to use.
    Mine got stuck after 2 hours of usage, maybe it's bad luck on my end or something, but it has remained stuck for the whole time i owned it.
    If they didn't fix this issue, i would suggest disabling the smartshift option and using to dedicated button to switch between modes to prevent the wheel from getting stuck.

    Can someone explain to me why they don't offer this mouse with a decent sensor and the same low latency wireless technology they use in their gaming range? When I am editing images/videos or doing 3d modeling i find low response times and an accurate sensor to be just as important as when I am gaming, probably more so. To me even browsing the Internet and working on text documents felt somewhat awkward with this mouse and there's no way I would use it for the tasks mentioned earlier. The high weight doesn't really help either but it wouldn't be a deal breaker in it of itself, the terrible sensor and response times however are. I find this a real shame because I pretty much loved everything else about it, though a few more programmable buttons would be nice for productivity.

    I love my old Performance Mouse MX, i still keep it in the drawer somewhere, it really is an amazing mouse. I used it for more than 5 years as a daily driver and would occasionally take it to work. Few months ago, I replaced it with the MX Master (1st gen) in Navy Blue and i love it. I don't use side scroll, though, but the software is so versatile so I might find another use for it except side scroll. And, yes, I agree with the battery percentage in the software, I would love to see Logitech implement that in one of the next updates.

    One thing I hate about my MX Master 2S is the fact that the mouse has already gotten glossy after 6 months use. They decided to use ABS plastic instead of PBT which takes a lot longer to shine. Another issue I have on mine is the fact that I can't set any custom macro's on the buttons, you are stuck with using only the small amount of actions they allow you to work with.

    I don't know why I didn't know this but I didn't know the gesture button was a gesture button. I thought it was just a button. So thanks for that. It used to be set up to show all open windows (alt-tab). I set it up so forward is zoom in, back is zoom out, left is scroll left (I wanted pan left but that wasn't an option), and right is scroll right. I just did it so I'll see how it works. I especially like that just clicking it resets the zoom because I accidentally zoom all the time and have to go into the menu to reset it. Now I can just click and it's fixed.

    I have something to say about the point at 5:00 regarding the MX Master 2S being less responsive and accurate compared to the G403.
    From my personal experience of having both the G403 wireless and first MX Master, I felt that the issue with it was due to the low polling rate of 125hz on the MX Master. I would wish that Logitech implemented a 1000hz polling rate on the MX master like what they did on the G403.

    Oh yes, I owned the Performance MX way back in college for graphic design work and it was awesome. Hours and hours spent in Illustrator and Minecraft alike. • @ThisIsReMarkable
      @ThisIsReMarkable 2 года назад

      @@englishwithaltini There wasn't much I didn't like about that mouse. The battery was rechargeable but removable without taking the whole thing apart.
      That said, one thing I don't like about Logitech is that they seem to use "middle shelf" switches. They don't seem to last as long as they should. I had to open them mouse up and replace one of the physical switches because the old one wore out. It involved removing and readding solder and not something I'd recommend for the average person.

    I recently had the MX master. I liked the software that comes with it where you can setup loads of custom commands that can rival the gestures I know and love from my Macbook Pro. I also like the look of the mouse as well it fits to my idea of what hardware for a content creator should look like.
    I ended up returning the mouse because of quite a lot of lag everytime the computer thinks about a task. This occurred both on my hackintosh as well as on my iMac at school.

    Have both the Performance MX and the MX Master. The PMX is my daily driver (4 years and going strong) as the ergonomics are better for all day use (for me anyway). The MXM is used when doing really intense work across multiple windows/browsers/spreadsheets - makes it really easy to navigate between them. The MXM is also used when travelling - the Bluetooth connection leaves me with an additional USB port free on the laptop. Both are excellent though, but I don't think I'll be updating to the 2S until one of mine dies. Thanks for a comprehensive review.

    I have this mouse - apart from no usb C and non user replaceable battery (won't stop me with a screwdriver!), its awesome. The hyper scroll took me by surprise (I'm a male, don't read manuals :P). Was on an ebay page and wanted to scroll to the international sellers so gave the wheel a flick. off it went to the bottom of the page. I watched the super fluid wheel spin down like a gyro, and then heard the click of the ratchet servo re-engage. "Cool! my mouse has gears!". Good to see Flow, I can now seemlessly switch between my macbook and my media centre hackintosh without having to have a seperate mouse on each. And my coffee table is glass, this mouse works smooth as silk on that!

    Regarding the 'Hyper Scroll Wheel' on the MX Master & 2S.
    Sometimes when I'm on the phone talking to people and I've got the computer on I will open up Excel, select a cell on the first row, and then using my index finger and all my strength and finesse spin the 'Hyper Scroll' wheel as hard and fast as I can to see how many rows down I can reach. I forget but I think a good spin was at least 7000.
    It's surprising how much variance there is depending on how well you spin the wheel.

    I LOVE my MX Master at work, as a software developer, but couldn't justify one at home due to the DPI limitations. Now I think I will have one for home!

    I have a Logitech Performance MX, Great mouse, only issue so far, I have a double click "new feature". But after 4 years using it intensively for work and gaming, it was a fair companion.

    I've been using the MX Master 1 for about a year now with my work computer and it's great. I can't say that the battery life is a full month, but I would believe it. I definitely don't charge it once a month. I don't use flow, the big sellers for me were egro and the thumb wheel since I work with lots of large databases and spreadsheets.

    Why does he stress no gaming so much? I get the gamer hate on wireless mice and on laser sensors, but I gamed with the mx master for a year and now I'm using the 2s and it's fantastic. I've never had a problem and I've never noticed a difference between this mouse and my Razer Deathadder Elite.

      I game with my MX Master as well -- don't want to say that it is hate, but rather because there are no DPI switching options which, to some, are very essential with online shooters.

    • @flashfire4
      @flashfire4 6 лет назад

      Is there any way to set the buttons to be dpi switchers? Also, can you customize the buttons per-app through the software?

    • @sor3999
      @sor3999 6 лет назад

      For some shooters a DPI switching option is essential. However if you don't play shooters or don't use DPI switching (you're not a sniper player) then this mouse is comparable to my Steelseries Sensei in terms of sensor quality which is biggest reason to get a gaming grade mouse.

      It just doesn't seem to have many gaming oriented features such as dpi switch and the number of remappable buttons or their positioning doesn't inspire what the, say, G502 inspires when gaming. The MX Master is designed and targeted at "power users" people who are in a production environment. I'll be using it for gaming on the go, but am aware that it'll really shine when working or in everyday use. For long gaming sessions, I'll probably switch back to my G502.

      Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic is cheaper, so you are right about price premium. If MX Master is better than Sculpt Ergonomic... My ideal mice would have Ergonomic's design, just more programmable buttons and DPI selector, than I would retire my Razer DeathAdder Elite, which is not that good for productivity. Funny that I used Microsoft's office mices for even competitive gaming since 1998 but I game a lot, lot less when I started buying esport-grade products. But I just like big mouse ergonomics of DeathAdder or G502 and lots of macro buttons.

    i remember owning the performance mx. i returned it after a few weeks because there was way too much input lag to keep playing cs 1.6 with it. i loved the hyper scrolling though, and im glad that they kept that feature around

    One would expect that, in such a long video, you'd go into important details about the mouse.
    I just got the MX Master 2S to replace my now half-dead Performance, but the lack of horizontal navigation (left/right push) from the vertical scroll button is a total deal-breaker. The noise made by the main buttons when clicked is also significantly louder than the Performance MX. Finally, you can kind of of learn how to live with the horrible position of the forward/back buttons, but I'd rather have them in the original position and ditch the horizontal scroll.
    It seems like the Anywhere 2S would be the right choice for me (despite de much smaller size), but then they've decide to make the clickable scroll a non-button (yet another very important detail not mentioned in your video).

    I have two Performance MX. Had them for about 5 years. Bought one for home and decided I wanted one at work too. Only problem is I find they are pretty bad at scrolling on Chrome, even with the Chrome plugin. I'll probably buy an MX Master sometime down the road. Maybe when one of these stops working.

    It's crazy I've been using the Logitech MX Performance mouse, I got it for $10 on letgo (steal). The ergonomics and customizations alone are amazing. I've been really tempted to buy the Master 2S because it has a feature that I think I would use a lot "Flow". I work from home many days out of the week and can see the usefulness in having one mouse for both my work and personal computer.

    I don't own the Wireless Performance MX - I own the wired version of it. It was (arguably still is) a kick butt mouse. I recently changed to the G502 (but I'm not letting my Performance MX go) - it does suit my use (esp when gaming) better. I've kept the laser mouse for back up. I'm very happy with both.
