First off, thanks for this video. I am a 68 yo Grandma with 3 dogs, a cat & 2 parrots so a lot of fur & feathers, oh a hubby also. I’ve always done my own repairs, I think that’s why the hubby married me. We have a DC 65 animal & last year I replaced the Hose Assy, then a few months ago the Duct Hatch Assy. Last week it was the Change Over Valve Hose Assy not realizing until it was apart that I also needed the Internal Hose Assy. By the way that part has went up on Amazon to $34. Also replaced both filters for the 1st time. I just finished and I think if anything else goes wrong I will sell it. Thanks again for your time.
I always say that anyone can do repairs themselves for most things. Glad that you found it useful.
Loved your video. Tk u it really helped me alot. But the cleaning head can come off at the beginning. I do all the cleaning in my vacuum my tear it apart I wash it all out and I actually bought extra parts so I can put dry parts in and not have to wait days for them to dry filter etc
Good tip
Thanks for the video, Daryl! It helped a lot, I was about to tackle this myself without a guide; glad I didn't! This was perfect step by step instructions and everything went seamlessly! Thanks again for the video, it was perfect!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for making this video. The same part failed on my UP13, and the hose ripped after 1 year of service. I ordered the part and was able to replace it in 30 minutes thanks to your great instruction!😃
Glad it helped
Thank you so much for this video. There is no way I could have figured this out without you. Thanks for sharing
Glad it was helpful!
Best instructional tutorial I have ever watched or used. Very detailed and accurate!! Thank you!
Wow, thank you.
Thank you so much! This helped tremendously! I am 65 and not afraid to fix things on my own if I can. Your instructions were clear. A bit fast at the end when putting everything back together. But I figured it out. I ended up replacing a filter I didn’t know I had. Thank you 😊
Glad it helped!
Thanks for teh detailed video. It Helped out a lot.
You're welcome! Glad to be of help.
Thanks for the video. Was able to do the same repair with little confusion. One recommendation to anyone looking to do this, get torx drivers vs bits.
Absolutely!
Thank you very much for posting this video. The repair cost me the price of the parts and the tools to do the job, all of which were much less than a repair shop and certainly less than buying a new vacuum. It took me about 30 minutes to complete given your great instructions (and I watched the video twice).
Thank you so much. The white tab is the fardest part and was difficult to explain easily.
Terrific video and thank you for taking the time to make and share it. I am a lifelong DIY repair junkie and have always been able to put damn near everything I’ve taken apart back together again and fixed it to boot.
That being said I am so freaking happy to have found this video. One big thing though, and I can’t believe you never even mentioned it in your outstanding piece: That little tiny tiny screw that is probably the very first thing that ANYONE needing this video probably removes and should never, ever lose. That little teeny tiny screw that secures the top edge of the “click” tab at the upper end of the hose assembly. That little teeny screw that is about the mass of a bb and does NOT , by the way, come with the replacement hose. You should really address this screw itself, at least mention it, and stress its importance. Without it, the hose will easily detach.
Sounds like very good advice. Honestly i am unaware of the screw.
Thank you very much for making this video. The part is up to $26 on Amazon, but way cheaper than having it repaired. I also replaced the change-over valve (hose) which was super easy since I had it disassembled for this repair already. It was about $22. An added benefit: since both hoses had small tears, it make a dreadful screeching sound that went away after the repair. Thank you again! I wouldn't have tackled this one without your video! (Mine is a DC41 Animal Complete)
Glad it helped
Thank you for the video. I followed it very carefully and was able to repair my vacuum without any issues. Thanks again
You're welcome!
Thank you! This tutorial was perfect! I was able to successfully fix my vaccuum! 🎉❤
You're welcome! Glad to be of help
Thank you Sir. Had I not seen this video, I never would have attempted taking the ball apart. Both internal hoses were ripped on mine, and the red clip broke off years ago. I had the old one hanging on to the intersection with a screw. I'm in for $60 with the parts and the snap ring pliers and a couple of torque drivers. My sister told me to throw it away and get a new one. All fixed for $60, as good as new.
Thanks, im glad you found it useful.
Thank you for posting this DIY. Super helpful, got mine fixed and works like a champ 🎉. The tricky part with the lever/ gear did take some problem solving skills.
Thank you for the snap ring pliers tip I'm sure I will use that again and also thank you for completing the video by doing the reassembly
Thanks. The reassembly was harder for me, so i wanted to make it clear as i could.
Needed to replace just the yoke. Had trouble with that white gear stop, and your explanation was awesome.
Thank you. 😊
Glad it helped! I wasn't sure i said it right
Used this guide to fix our DC41! Took a while to take apart and put back together but it’s working!
It is time consuming
Got my UP13 secondhand years ago and just today realized that mine doesn't have the internal hose. I feel pretty silly for not noticing for so long, but this video gave me the confidence to try and repair it myself. Thank you!
Probably works a lot better? Thanks for watching.
Thanks Daryl! This was super useful for seeing how it all gets put back together. I was replacing a different connecting hose. and i almost forgot where that white plastic gear went!
That was a tricky step
Great video! I was only confused at the part where you put the gear in, and that's because I didn't know the orientation from the camera shot. Thanks for this! Saved me tons of money (and took about an hour, too)
Glad it heloed
Thank you . Got it done easily
The little red clip just broke on mine. Dyson's website no longer sells this part. Thankfully I accidently found this video and you linked that part I needed. Thank you.
Dyson is terrible at after sale support
Thanks so much. I had to buy the torx tools but managed to FIX mine and it runs great now.
Thanks for your video so helpful and a bit easier to follow than other videos I tried watching.
Great to hear!
Thank you for sharing this repair! Mine broke on the tab also. I really didn't want to buy a new vacuum.
Glad I could help!
I just finished my repair! It’s working like it use to. Thanks again 😊
Thanks for putting these repair videos up. Very helpful when I replaced the changeover hose and internal hose on my D65.
Thank you. I appreciate you watching.
The gear was the hardest part. Thank you!
Yes!
That gear is what I’m working on right now and starting to get mad 😂
Please keep making these great videos
Thank you.
Thanks for the video. I was able to fix a family member’s vacuum just by replacing the hose part.
Thanks for this. It really helped. The gear reassembly is the most difficult bit but I got there in the end.
Yes, has to be in right spot or it doesnt switch correctly.
It went well until I tried to put it back. The gear always falled off, never into place. Everything turned into a mess on my side, but thank you for the video
Sorry to hear that. You can doit though. It took me several tries to get everything in the right place
Thank you very much! Super helpful!
Glad it helped!
Great video! Couldn't have done it without you!
Glad to help!
You're awesome sir! Thank you for taking the time .
Glad it was helpful!
Man this was a great tutorial, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
THANK YOU! Especially for making the tools you need, so clear, at the beginning.
Thanks for watching!
Hey Daryl. Many thanks for making the video. I bought the part for
You are welcome. My son is actually in Coventry right now visiting his fiance in your beautiful country.
This video was great help. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! I was able to repair a $10 vacuum and it works great now!!
I got mine for 20. It works great
Great video, thanks!
Thank you it was a quick and easy part change, without you showing the break down it would have taken a lot longer to accomplish
Glad it helped
Worked for me! Minus a few screws leftover at the end. Expected that, LOL The locking mechanism was a bit frigidity though.
Could be a little off on the gear tab placement.
Excellent instruction!!! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! You made it easy!
Glad it helped!
@darylturcott It really did. I jumped ahead at the reassembly phase and had to re-watch how to mesh the gear properly. Thanks again!
Great video! I'm getting ready to replace my internal hose. The snap ring pliers look super useful. Do you have a link to the pair of pliers you own?
Those where snap on i bought off truck when i was a mechanic. You dont need to spend a lot on a decent tool though. Local tsc or harbor freight should have a reasonable option. Dont get any that have interchangeable tips though, none of them are very good. Here is a link if you are an amazon shopper.

I dont own these but they look like a good deal for the price.
@@darylturcott, thanks good suggestion on shopping local and thanks for he amazon suggestion, those do look like a good deal.
Took me about an hour to get the hose replaced on my DC65. The trickiest part is re-aligning the white gear on reassembly. I had the video play on the TV while performing the disassembly and re-assembly. I also labeled screws as I took them off to help on the reassembly. Overall, I highly recommend this step-by-step video for how to replace the hose assembly.
Thank you. The white part is definitely the hardest part
Holy cow, that’s a lot of steps and parts. Really good video. But I tell you what, when my Dyson breaks down, I ll come knocking on your door for repairs. Just kidding - I have a Hoover.
It was a lot of steps for sure, but only one really tricky part getting that little gear lined up
@@darylturcott the gear sucks...😢
@@Lvckiest it took me 3 tries. Once when fully back together. I recommend marking both parts before removal.
How did you rotate the vacuum?
What's the other internal hose called? The one that switches between the brush head and the hose?
I have the D65 and the little red tab on this part broke off as soon as I released the screw holding it in place. Is there any way to just purchase that red piece containing the tab?
Sadly, no. I tried several times to fix it before i broke down and bought the part.
I used 2 staples as clamps that hold the hose. It was meant to be a temp fix but it’s lasted years (still works). Going to order a new internal hose though
I called the Dyson service phone number today and was told that this part is not available for purchase by an owner of a Dyson vacuum. It can only be repaired at a Dyson Service Center.
Thats sad.
Oh wow, I managed to get this part no problem. I'm in Scotland though, not sure where you are. That's ridiculous, seems they're just trying to make as much money as possible... Did you get it sorted? I was going to say I'll mail one but then noticed the comment is 7 months old at this point.
Just a heads up you added like 7-10 more steps than needed.
I believe it. first time I ever did one.
I was good until that little white gear too haha
thanks for the help
It got me, but it wasnt too bad to figure out.
I’m working on it now lol that gear sucks!
I think the "changeover hose" is the one that flips back and forth which is what I needed for mine and so I followed the guidance from ruclips.net/video/Kpl1EZwvO6A/видео.html. This one appears to be the "internal hose". The first part of the replacement is the same anyways...
Just buy a decent brand to start with. Anything but Dyson.
I have a couple of dysons. The older ones i am happy with. The Kirby G series is far and away the best though.
