I'm honestly glad you bought this over the Ducati Hyper, very nice 690 KTM!
Yeah I did not want to deal with recall issues with a first gen bike. I was very close to getting that bike tho. Glad I got this, very impressed with KTM build quality and their super clean wiring. Torx bolts are awesome on this bike, less chance of stripping them.

When I saw this bike at the dealership I knew I had to have it, glad I did because it is such a fun bike.
Very tasteful mods! These fine changes are what really make owning something like the smcr worthwhile.
This bike is a pleasure to work on. Thee cleanest wiring and the ease of removing things is amazing on this bike. I'm impressed with KTM's build quality.
What is your thoughts on the 701 throttle , ride by wire? Have you experienced bikes with that tech?

Enjoying the build. I have a 2020 smc r with a similar setup. I run dunlop mutants. Lots of grip in the twisties and plenty for the dirt

The most comfortable seats you can buy for your bike is a Corbin. It's like $500, but man. Let me tell you compared to seat concepts. It's on a whole new level.
My Seat Concepts seat on my YZ is very comfortable, have ridden like 12 hours straight and could ride more. This KTM Ergo seat is fine but not as comfortable as the seat concepts seat. I'm sure the corbin is nice but that price isn't. lol I'm not trying to spend 5k in mods for this bike. lol

Great looking bike CC. Looking forward to hearing the Leo Vince exhaust. I installed a Leo Vince on all my bikes, MT-07, SV650, and DRZ400SM. They all sound amazing.
Once it’s fully built would love to see a video ranking KTM against the YZ and you must choose a winner for 2 classes; one bike only forever and favorite bike with all your other bikes in the garage still
Yeah I'll do a comprison video when this bike is done. I love both bikes for different reasons. This KTM can ride the highway all day and night and no thinking about oil changes. lol

I put a plastic bag around the connector and sealed it with tape.

I've heard that the reason why they are so easy to work on is because of them being in Paris Dakar . There it is very important that the bike can be fixed with tools from the toolbox.
That makes sense. I've never seen a bike with such clean wiring and so easy to work on. I love the torx bolts, much less chance of stripping them like the hex bolts on the Japanese bikes.

I got the tekmo full titanium exhaust Rottweiler intake, SAS delete and pc6 on the way! I can’t wait to get them installed! I’m in md wish we weren’t so far away so we could rip together!

Looks great! Consider painting or powder coating the shifter, brake pedal, pegs, peg mounts. Did that on my 701, looks much better in black than silver, in my opinion. With minor trimming, the motocross bikes swing arm covers will fit. If you want to spend some money, Tekmo makes a bunch of carbon fiber pieces for these bikes.
I'm trying not to get too crazy with mods like I did on my former w250r, spect 5k! lol

Stock power is way more than you need, plenty powerful. I'm still on fence as to whether I will go all out on mids, worried about messing with the reliability after seeing a PC6 fail.

I have a 2003 hinda gildwing and i plan on getting a motorcycle trailer for it to haul my next bike. Im thinking of building a yamaha mt03 with knobbies on it. Sounds so dumb but i think itll be so much fun on forestry roads.
Lucky I wish I could ride mine 🥲 brand new 24 690 smc not even 200 miles, started leaking from the counter shaft seal. Has been in the shop 4 days now and already feels like ages 💔

That kickstand safety delete will allow you to ride off with your kickstand down, which is pretty unsafe and can cause a crash.
I would've tucked the dongle into the trunk and only installed it if I had issues. This is my second "non-recommend" on this build after the fender eliminator [shoulda added dual function turn signals + brake]
Personal preferences, I guess. You do you. But these diminish some of the safety on this build.
To me the stickers on the hand guards don’t match the rest but otherwise it’s looking real proper!
You have made the bike look even better and that's a lot of money but as long as you are happy I am happy. But if you were ever to sell that bike how much would you get back?

have you clutched it up yet i owned 1 i learned to wheelie on it it was not easy to wheelie imo i chaned front and rear sprocket for much more low end it was still not that easy
The black and orange does look good, but the Mono RVE has it beat look wise IMO. Though I'm basis owning one.

@@CycleCruza It's been great. I've put just over 600 miles on it. Been using it as my daily and even taking it up and down Blood Mountain for a whole day of technical twisty riding.

You can use a regular 12v battery charger as long as it doesn't have the automatic "desulferization" mode or whatever r it's called. They want you to believe that you need their "special" lithium charger but think about it. Does your bike come with a special lithium charging system? I'd bet not. 😉 Anyway, with the re-start battery you should never need a charger just hit the button and your bike will recharge the battery. For storage just disconnect it and it should hold voltage for months (mine do).
Hi am 16 and I need some help on getting a new bike bc am new to bikes in general so I wanted to ask what is the best bike to start on and do I need my license or learner permit to get my motorcycle license
You can always push the bike and pop the clutch to start a bike right? I’ve done it on r6s and r1s but idk if all bikes can be started like that
I start mine with the kickstand down all of the time. Is it more of the bike shutting off when putting it into gear with the kickstand down?
@@jasunto I was talking about if your battery dies. But he’s doing that so that it doesn’t shut off while riding. Most new bikes are a switch that will cut power to the bike if the stand comes down as a Saftey feature
idk I've never tried that but with this battery there is no need, just press the button the battery and it'll provide enough power to start the bike. I had to do it once when I first rode my YZ450FX on the street for the first time because my headlight drained the battery due to the stator not being sufficient.

Nothing wrong with seat.
Yeah stock seat is fine but the blue looks mismatched with the matte black graphics.Ergo seat is slightly better but looks much better.
@@CycleCruza had my 2020 4 years and 14000km and my but is fine. It’s black too. 😀

The bike will start with the kickstand down regardless when you put it in a gear with the kickstand down, it will die to let you know the kickstand down ask me how I know lol
