  • First startup and cam break-in of my home built pretty hotted up chrysler 318 v8 mopar power with a Howards Rattler flat tappet hydraulic camshaft, 318 marine block, reverse pin offset trw forged pistons with moly rings, balanced, .040 overbore, decked block, 340 ported T/A heads with 2.02 and 1.6 backfaced and polished stainless valves, double valve springs, double roller timing chain, solid street dampner, alloy roller rockers, edelbrock performer dual plane manifold with a 750 double pumper holley, msd ignition.
Don't mind the horrible rattle you can hear, it was a loose gilmer drive fanbelt resonating through the alternator, not a sound you want to hear from a brand new engine though. trying to keep the temp under control during break-in was a bit of a battle.
The car is a 1962 Sv1 (S model) Valiant with the 318 shoe horned into it.

Are those red rockers the cheap eBay type? If so, how are they going?

They needed alot of massaging and going over to make right, but so far i have beat hard on them and they have held up well.

It is a mid spec howards rattler. Very close specs to a hughes whiplash

To those fools flappin about the noise, try reading the vid description, it is the ALTERNATOR making the noise. If you watch to the end you will see the noise had been rectified once the cam break in was complete, and don't try and tell me i don't know what i'm doing, i am a qualified mechanic and built countless flat tappet engines and never once had a camshaft break in failure in over 20 years of bolting engines together.
