- Experience full-service lunches at the main dining room (MDR) on sea days aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Join us as we showcase the menus and food from our 2023 Allure of the Seas sailing, featuring three separate sea day lunches during a 7-day Western Caribbean itinerary. You can expect similar menus and entrees on other Royal ships too.
No reservation necessary, simply show up between 11:30 AM to 1 PM and be seated at any available table. For faster service, we recommend arriving by 11:20 AM as lines usually start forming by then.

That chicken sandwich looks really good, and thanks for doing these videos for the food on the ship (this and the dinner in the main dining room), as it is helping my family plan for our cruise on the harmony of the seas. We all watch these together and we all enjoy them, thank you!

I bought the Royal Caribbean cookbook just to get the recipe for their Lasagne Al Forno. 🤣 It’s a 2 day process for me. Make the meat sauce one day. The next day make the Bechamel sauce, boil the noodles and assemble and bake. It’s worth all the trouble. But…all the risotto’s on the menus looked good to me. And I always order the carrot cake when it’s offered. Good video! Thank you!

The Lasagna al Forno at 12:50 looks to be the perfect single serving size portion, especially at lunch time. I live alone, so having someone else make lasagna for me is always a treat.

Yes it's nice! Most cruise lines, including Royal, have MDR lunch on sea days.
@@TravelTouristVideos wow didn’t know Carnival did that. Cruised with them 5 times. Then again, I was usually drunk around lunchtime so makes sense, lol!
Lol yeah Carnival actually has a nice brunch, though they've cut it to just one hour now (in terms of when you can go and start eating the mdr lunch).

Looks pretty similar to the food that we were served last May on the Liberty of the seas. I really like their MDR menu as there is a good variety of dishes and most of them are well prepared. After four cruises in the last 12 months, I think that we are are doing and based vacations until September ... when we may head to Alaska on HAL or Celebrity. Another great video.

In two RCL transatlantic cruises I've never eaten lunch in the MDR. Next time I need to do so for the Cajun chicken sandwich.

That burger at 12:04 looks like you'd have to dislocate your jaw to eat it, it was that big. If I ever go on a cruise, I'll be eating a lot of steaks! However, I'd also like to think I'd try a lot of different things in the various eateries.

Any time! Yup the dining rooms may have different names, but pretty much the same but just on different decks. For lunch they'll just serve on one of those dining rooms.

Your mention of not very much sauce on the burger made me think of a question: Do they provide standard sauces (ketchup, dijon mustard, A-1 Steak Sauce, etc.)?
They sure do have those- just ask your server and they will bring your requested condiments.
So much depends on the ship.
It does for sure as each has their own head chef!
So far I’m really intrigued by the salmon salad and the crispy chicken sandwich with the onion rings. I’m pleasantly surprised by the menus! Also, the salmon dish looked really good too. I don’t like that it was overcooked. That should never be. Shame shame, RCL chefs know better than that. I was surprised to see Joanne’s positive reaction to the Apple Blossom dessert. That is one I would have skipped because it just seems like a boring dressed up apple pie. Definitely disappointing to hear that the white chocolate mousse with raspberry was too sweet. If it’s too sweet for Joanne (I hope I got her name right!) then it’s probably going to be too for me. The dark chocolate custard looked good, though the Floating Island seems a little more compelling. I would have to order both. Princess’s onboard French restaurant has a dessert similar to the Floating Island. It’s very fancy and airy as I recall. Overall, I’m encouraged by what I see here! Thanks you guys! Only about 16 more days until I get to voyage on the Harmony! So excited!! 😁

This was after the new MDR dinner menus were rolled out, so yeah it was a pleasant surprise to see that, unlike dinner, they kept some classics like the steak & chicken sandwich.
@@TravelTouristVideosThanks for letting me know. I just can’t get over that they are serving the Apple Blossom, my favorite Royal dessert, at lunch but not dinner! Same with the Caesar Salad at lunch, had it on Radiance. Still a starter, but includes choice of chicken or shrimp, at lunch, but not at dinner!
Yeah that's kind of strange for sure- I wonder if they match the dinner availability of these dishes with sea days. Would love to hear back on how it goes on the Radiance. Have a wonderful cruise! 🙂
Is the food better quality than other complementary food shops
It was pretty good- we always go there for lunch on sea day, but you can also go to the buffet afterwards and see if anything piques your interest. Which cruise ship is this? Is the food quality consistent across all the Royal Caribbean ships? What about Serenade of the Seas?
This was on the Allure of the Seas. Should be consistent but with slight variations from our experience.
is there a free drinks in main dining?
You can order water, coffee or some juices free of charge. Specialty coffee, sodas & alcohol drinks do cost extra, but you can save on those with a drinks package if you drink a lot.
Do u tip at this restaurant
You don't need to tip separately since you automatically pay a daily gratuity of $16 a day per person that's charged to your cruise account. That amount is distributed among all the crew members including the dining staff, room steward, and other crew members. But you can always tip extra too.
Do you order everything at once?
Yes you do. Even though you can order later during the dinner as well those usually take longer to come out.

Yup the waiter will typically come by your table around 5 to 10 minutes after you're seated to take your selections for the meal.

Love the Oasis. Been aboard 5 times. Best food we ever had but when you exit the dining room on Deck 4 you are immediately smashed in the face with the disgusting smell of smoke from the casino which is less than 50' away. Unbelievable that given the amazing design of this ship they don't simply put glass entry doors on the casino. They have doors on the arcade, but not the casino. So stupid. PRO TIP: DON'T accept seating on Deck 4 !
Thanks for the tip! Yes we're also not a fan of the smoke emanating from casinos, and this goes for many of the cruise ships we've been on.
The entire menu reeks of cost cutting. Where you got gourmet meals in years past, now you just get fried chicken. Cannot believe people do not even notice the diluting of offerings.
It's definitely not as good as pre-Covid days. But I wouldn't say it was a gourmet lunch, but yeah it was better, especially with a nice little buffet section, plus salad made to order in front of you.
Salmon is the "in" thing. I hate it, super fishy😮
Just got back off the oasis of the seas the food was honestly awful in the main dining room..
They are trying to push everyone into paying extra to have a decent meal it seems...first Royal Cruise and wasn't impressed at all.

I just got off the Rhapsody of the Seas. Food was mediocre and highly disappointing.
I keep hearing how RCL food is very hit or miss. That *is* disappointing.

They had a few pretty good dishes- you can always try it and then go to the buffet afterwards if weren't to your liking.
Terrible ... might as well go to Applebees...worst food ever..Cheap
