Thank you for a very honest review. All those other reviews where they say EVERYTHING is AWESOME; just gives unrealistic expectations for when you get onboard.

We thought the Windjammer, Cafe 270 and the Speciality Dining Venues were pretty amazing on board Anthem of the Seas! Have you sailed on this ship recently, let us know your experience by dropping us a comment below :) we'd love to hear what you think!

A really helpful and honest video. Lots of food options onboard. I too liked Cafe Two70. We had a 5-night dining package so got to try quite a few of the specialty dining venues at a reasonable price. Izumi is probably my favourite, the sushi in your video made me very hungry! Sorrentos was disappointing and you’re right Princess definitely do the best pizza.
Hi Jay great video, your aerial shots are all ways great. I have just bought a drone and was wondering what are or is there any rules on using a drone on board. Thanks
Hello Tony! Thanks for your kind comments, its appreciated. If you’ve been cleared by ship security there should be no issue, just check what local regulations are regarding the use of drones. For example, I couldn’t film any drone footage while alongside New York because they’re banned. When I’ve worked on ships, we see drones all the time and I’ve never known an Officer or captain to get annoyed by their presence, unless they’re flying near the bow and the radar acquires them as a target. So, I always avoid flying it when the radar scanners are spinning, or fly it aft of the radars so they don’t show on the terminals! Hope this helps :)
Thank you Jay for your fast and honest reply, I have purchased a drone and was hoping to take it on our P&O cruise in July. Advice most appreciated many thanks. Tony
Agree about the food on Anthem, we were on her on 2015 and would never go back on her because of terrible dinning experience, I'm sure they have changed dinning options now tho, Indy was the best ship for main dinning, the food was always very good compared to Anthem. Johnny Rockets on Indy was a great experience with the 50s dinner style, on Anthem in just was more like going into Burger King or McDonald's.
Thanks Andy! A proper sit down Johny rockets is always nicer, also it was a shame on Navigator recently that they never offered Veggie options unlike Anthem!
Thanks for the video guys! Me and the Mrs didn’t like the main dining on board either, every night we chose buffet or the paid options instead! Definitely not what they advertise online!
Glad you found it helpful! Royal Caribbean seem to get it right at their other dining venues, can’t understand why every RC ship we go on the main dining is as bad :(
Thanks for the advice, it’s a shame the main dining room is such a let down! We’re looking to book another cruise with RC this year, however do you think the main dining is that poor across the board on RC??
Hello Dan! Glad the video was of some help. I can only comment based on my own personal experience, but I’m sorry to say that I’ve never once had a meal that’s been memorable for all the good reasons, on Royal Caribbean; and I’ve sailed on five different ships! The food is pretty impressive everywhere else on board, but they are over promising when it comes to main dining, and unfortunately much better food and service is found in dining rooms on ships with other cruise lines!
@@dansrules well it doesn’t look good! It’s one of two possibilities, either RC are trying their luck, or they’re promoting food that is of the quality that they’re aspiring to! I like to think it is the latter!
It’s such a shame! Found the food to be good in the Windjammer, and superb in many of the speciality restaurants. But as for the main restaurants, I’ve had better food on an aeroplane!
Main dining room has really gone down in quality, so much so that for our forthcoming cruise we’ve paid for the unlimited dining package which allows us to eat every night in a speciality restaurant. Last years quality in MDR was so poor we didn’t bother some nights.
Hello Lee. It was particularly bad on Anthem, but it’s been our observation that the standard of food has gone down hill considerably on all cruise lines post pandemic. It’s almost like they’re doing it on purpose, so that passengers like us are forced into specialty dining venues, it they want quality cuisine.
I haven’t sailed for 7 years and about to go on Anthem -the “warning” about Main room dining is a huge disappointment since i was always amazed back then- escargot, perfectly cooked steak and lobster.. i am determined not to spend extra money on dining though so will have to make it work.
@@sailawaymag Thank you! So far only the the now late Majesty and Rhapsody. Booked on Radiance to Yucatán, Explorer to Rome and Anthem from Southampton to NY next year!
The food from the MDR looks so disappointing, just curious, have you ever complained to RC about it? I'd be off to guest services to show them those pictures and have a right moan!
I thought about it, but with COVID and offices being understaffed it’s almost impossible to get through to anyone! We put all of this feedback on the appraisal form at the end of the cruise, but never heard a thing :(
Excellent vlog. It’s appalling that the food in the main dining rooms were poor. A few months ago we found the MDR on Rhapsody Of The Seas was chaotic and staff were under massive pressure. We believe that Royal Caribbean Cruises are trying to force passengers to eat in the various fee paying restaurants to generate extra income for the company 🫢
Hey! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! To be honest we’ve never really had a good MDR experience with RC, but you might be onto something with the speciality restaurants! 😅

What’s included with the package? We’ve booked for September and don’t know if we need to book food packages to eat?
Was on her two yrs ago, totally agree with you, main dining room are terrible

Best video iv've seen for dining onboard this ship guys! Did you ever have a good meal in the main dining room? LOL

If you're not looking to spend money, all other inclusive venues including the Windjammer get a big thumbs up!
is johnny rockets included??? or pay extra
Extra
You mentioned you have been on Five Royal ships with Anthem, could you please name the other four? Thank you!
Explorer of the Seas, Adventure of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Navigator of the Seas (November 22)!

Oh wow those will be absolutely amazing! Please do come back and let us know how your cruises go, we’d love to hear about your experiences! 😀
Sounds like you’re just expecting the food to be Michelin star. Maybe cruise a fancy cruise? 😅
A bit harsh. We enjoyed the MDR last year cruising around the UK.

Why are you guys like this? Stop making the job harder for these people
I disagree my dinner in main dining room was delicious windjammer was horrible
Talking absolute rubbish, this is a great ship people with great food.
Anything you say, Peter!
Oh dear I was looking forward to especially the food on here in October
Jamie Oliver is an overrated chef.
Never a truer statement!
We visited his restaurant in Brighton before it closed and were not impressed by the food 😰
