Sorry about your relative. May God grant Him eternal rest swiftly. I had never heard of before the legend of St John the Apostle being assumed into Heaven. That is amazing. I guess there is no reason why God could not do so as one of the first fruits of the resurrection.
Thank you for sharing so much knowledge about our Holy Church's History! You're amazingly prolific! In this wonderful video about St. John the Apostle, I think you missed to comment on a very beautiful and important tradition: In the year 33AD, John was a teenager, probably only 15-16 years old. That's why John was always depicted as a beardless young man in all traditional Catholic and Orthodox paintings. Besides, John was also the son of Mary Salome who, more than likely, was the cousin-sister of the Vigin Mary. That means John looked at Jesus not only as the Mesiah, but also as his big cousin!!! We all know how little cousins love and admire their big cousins, don't we?. If that was true, the love of Jesus for John, in his fully human nature, must have been more tender and more intimate than his love for the rest of the Apostles. This would explain why John was known as the beloved, even the spoiled! With that perspective in mind, the vision of a young John leaning on Jesus' chest suddenly becomes absolutely natural. Moreover, John's young age also would explain why he was the only Apostle who was let to stay with the women (with his aunt and his mother, in addition to Mary of Cleophas and Mary Magdalene) at the foot of the Cross without being arrested. And his young age would also explain why he lived so much longer than the rest of the Apostles. Best regards.
Thanks for bringing this beautiful insight on behalf of your grandfathers, remembrance. . Do keep spreading the word of God giving inspiration to the new generation Christians who are baptized but not practising the law of God+++++++
Your grandfather is blessed, be of good cheer! The day and the manner of our deaths are the summary of our lives on this earth (not from the Bible but frequent occurrence for the saints, whose days of repose were foretold by the Lord or His angels).
At the last supper, they were not sitting round a table but were reclining on perhaps cushions. This makes it easier to lean on Jesus bosom and not so obvious.
St Irenaeus said apostle John was inside a Roman bath house getting cleansed, However, through the hot steam he suddenly realized that the heretic Cerinthus was sitting just across the room. John immediately jumped up and fled the bathhouse, explaining that Cerinthus was inside and he didn’t want to be killed when the building collapsed under the righteous judgment of God!
47:00 There is something not right about these luminous mysteries.....The Dominican rosary is a replacement for the 150 psalms (which became the basis of monasticism). Therefore the holy rosary also has to be made up of 150 Aves. These additions destroy the very heart of the rosary. We traditionalists never touch them. We will put them in some of our publications, but only to get Vat II types off our backs. Of course, I do agree with the propositions of Dan, but there are many problems in the church. However we do not have to invent mysteries in order to refute them.
24:00 Where do you get the idea that the Theotokos has a 'refuge' in Ephesus? She might have visited there, but a 'refuge'? Do you know that that islamic government of Turkey is promoting this idea in order to bring in Western tourists? I am not sure if the curia is taking a cut or not as they seem to be pumping the idea too. Church tradition clearly teaches that the Theotokos died in Jerusalem where she lived and was buried there. When St. Thomas looked at the tomb days later, the blessed body was not there.
According to Maria Valtorta's "Poem of Man-God", She stayed in Jerusalem, all the time, after the Pentecost (She was then with the Apostles in the House of Cenacle where the Last Supper was celebrated), in the house of the Garden of Gethsemane (fenced off from the public to give a safe and quiet place for Her by Lazarus who owned the place) with only St. John, until She was assumed into Heaven which only St. John witnessed.
21:00 Did not St. Thomas Aquinas teach against the immaculate conception concept? I had heard that most Dominicans were saying no to the idea well into the 20th century.
No. The Dominicans held a slightly different view of it, but he never "preached against it." They stated that for a brief moment Mary experienced sin, since this would necessitate her needing Christ's salvific grace. However, the Franciscan/ Capuchin view eventually won out - that she did not need this since she was of the Lineage of David, and thus chosen at the beginning of time to be the vessel for Christ's incarnation.
32:05 Does this act scroll say why St. John was sitting in what looks to be the theatre backdrop? Did he know someone in the theatre in order to get in?
10:45 There seems to be something wrong with the Icon of the Saviour with St. John the Divine....there seems to be something else that got stuck behind from another image. It looks so confusing and ugly.
Why didn’t Mother Mary say to St. Simon Stock “…by the way I forgot the luminous mysteries so please add them now.” What hubris after all the Assisi abominations, kissing the Koran, etc. he would add to the rosary. 👎
Do you see the ad hoc tale spinning of these demons? The four animals in the vision of Ezekiel represent the four gospels. Where is THAT ever taught in scripture? These monsters just whip up whatever they want whenever they want to spellbind the uninitiated.
I think Catholicism should make a special order of the priesthood dedicated to Mary. Call it the Order of Mary or the Order of the Queen of Heaven or the Order of Mary Most High. Other goddesses throughout time had priests and priestesses. Is Mary less than they? Shouldn't she have a priesthood too? Does Catholicism considers Mary LESS than those other religions considered their goddesses? That's crazy! Mary could have female priests, which would answer a crying desire from the people for more Mary and more priests.
Perhaps this is an American idiom, but it doesn't have a romantic connotation. Also, Ephesus has always had a Marian connection, which was the cause of it being chosen to host the ecumencial council there which condemned anti-Marian Nestorianism. The present Ephesus house was located after Anne Catherine Emmerich's visions revealed it's location. I don't say with absolute certainty that this was in fact her house but there is an early connection with Mary and Ephesus - while I lean towards accepting this early tradition, I also don't hold this as absolutely certain.
Take note at how Catholicism perpetrates her poisonous mythology. Nothing in scripture is taken at face value. Instead, it is elaborated upon in order to sell a particular agenda, which departs from the teaching of the apostles. The Apostle John hasn't said a word about "all believers taking Mary into their hearts". That's a modern, Gentile notion, not communicated by the text but extrapolated from the text. 2 Peter 1:16 - For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. Listen to what the Apostle Peter said about these myth builders. He calls these things, "cunningly devised fables".
Peter went on (to specifically conclude his lesson there) saying that eyewitness accounts were the basis. Also : Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. (1 Peter 1:22 NIV)
fantasy, folklore, oral tradition and parable play large roles in the early writings of the church. radically different from today where we demand fact checking. but still fascinating.
Only protestants understand everything literally. Use your brain, it's a compliment, a way of saying. Like your father telling your mother she's the most beautiful woman he's ever seen but clearly she's not
God Bless your grandfather. Peace to his soul.🙏🙏🙏🙏
Very good presentation. I learned a lot.
Thank you and for your informative and educational program It is very timely for us to learn many more about the reality of Catholic Church History.

I really loved this comment because Holy tradition is the mortar for Holy scripture ,I hope I'm right in my theory. ❤❤❤

That’s great advice.
Sorry for your loss.

And that's the perfect attitude, not the hippie hugging and singing kumbaya nowadays

Would your program be an example of Holy tradition and Holy scripture ? Im just thinking out loud .

Great idea they can preach if the bishops allow it.

The way I have heard the expression used is that it signifies close friendship with nothing sexual implied.

St. John is not divine. Only God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are divine. 3 persons in one God.
