@@mortb9 there was no Google search when I first saw this movie, or Internet, I had to sit through the credits to see if I could find the name of the song, lol.
This came out the first year I played t-ball. In Minnesota, believe me, there was not a parent in sight for our 9:00 a.m. games. We got shirts but no pants or hats for uniforms. After t-ball you graduated to “powerstride” which was an eponymous pop up device for hitting promoted by local hero Harmon Killebrew. While I sucked as a baseball player as a kid, I later became a decent slow pitch softball player playing on the same fields as an adult. As a kid I saw bad news bears go to japan in the theater with all the kids from the neighborhood…what an experience!
I played on a little league baseball team when I was 9 years old in the 70's and it's amazing how much the team I played on resembled the bad news bears. It's like I know all the players, coaches and parents and only the names are different.
Hey Yankees ... For some reason that quote popped in to my head at work in the middle of my night shift. I hadn't seen that movie since childhood. Thanks for posting
Yeah. I missed out on the ‘70s and a couple years of the ‘80s, but I remember the latter decade in the deepest recesses of my mind. And I remember it with great fondness, often wishing we had something like that again.
I remember watching this with my mom and she was like "The language on those kids they need their mouths washed out with soap!" Ha good times in the 70s thanks for the memories!
Grew up in SoCal in the ‘80s and ‘90s with my twin brother, our older sisters and older brother grew up in the ‘70s and ‘80s, kids talked that way in our neighborhood all the time (San Gabriel Valley).
My mom says Tanner looked exactly like her brother (my uncle Shay) back in the 70's. He was a skinny little tough guy. Even told me a story about Shay when he was literally on top of their older brother's (my uncle Kirk, 1965-2008) shoulders pounding the shit out of him while he was walking down the hallway from the bedroom they were in. God knows what started that fight.
imagine kids hearing those insults after giving an apology and showing respect to the losing team, those kids would become adults that would never apologize or show sportsmanship ever again haha
This always reminds me of MY Bad News Bears, the NY Mets! All we ever wanna do is tell the Yankees, "Take your apology & your trophy and shove 'em straight up your... Toreadore, Don't spit on the floor! Use the cuspidor! Waddaya think it's for?!" ';-P
So much for art imitating life. As a die-hard Twins wonk, I somehow picture @ 1:06 is Jeter standing with Mo Riveria, A-Rod, and company literally laughing under their breath as they kick the Holy Hell out of my Twins once again. Sadly, all the Twins have for a comeback is their former version of Lupus, Nick Punto saying "wait till next year." Oh well, such is life.
Does anyone else think that Timmy Lupus (the kid who says "And another thing wait until next year!" 1:07-1:09 ) looks like a young Kurt Cobain?? I mean, I just waiting for him to bust out in "Smells Like Teen Spirit" haha
Awesome ending! Back when not everyone got a trophy for just showing up. You learned to play your best. If you got a trophy, it was earned and you were proud of it.
THE ORIGINAL ENGLEBERT WAS BETTER THAN THE ONE THAT WENT TO TEXAS..OH YEAH WHY DID THE BEARS GO TO TEXAS THEY LOST THE CHAMPIONSHIP..TANNER HAD A THICK NEW YORK ACCENT AND BUTTER MAKER WALTER MATTHAU LOOKED LIKE JEFF ROSS
When the Republican establishment tries to congratulate Ron Paul supporters at the Convention for their good effort..they should respond like the bears did in this video
What an awful movie driving kids around drinking without seatbelts, kids riding motorcycles with no helmets, kids smoking, kids cursing and using the n word.Making fat jokes. This movie should be banned!!!
I was twelve when this came out in 76 and my big brother took me to see. We didn't tell our mom. Great memories
One of the greatest endings in movie history, to quite possibly the greatest sports movie ever. Absolutely incredible and gutbustingly hilarious.
Tannner delivered that comeback like a true warrior, and ended the film so well.
Lupus giving some words of his own. Good for him.
Ms. Cleveland: "Buttermaker, here's your second place trophy."
Buttermaker: "Thank you, sir."
Hilarious.
So glad I never saw the remake. This film did not need any improving upon.
I would like to watch the remake, just to laugh at how bad it is, judge smails
The remake was 👎
You got to love how in the 70's it was normal to give 12 year old kids beer.
@klabkebash: It wasn't really "normal," it's just that people didn't throw hysterical fits over some things like that that didn't warrant it.
The Yankees might have won the game. But the bears win at life.😂
Next year's
Bill Lancaster, the writer of this movie definitely knows how to use a pen!
He also wrote The Thing for John Carpenter.
I fuckin' love this movie. Tanner Boyle for President!!
Tanner is my boy!!
Tanner grew up to be an MMA fighter...kicking the living crap out people since 1976...
Best movie ever! should be required viewing for today's uptight parents
Chico Bail Bonds as the teams' sponsor. Gotta love it!
Vic Morrow played the perfect villain coach for the Yankees, everybody wanted the Bears to beat their ass
It’s so funny as I remember reading somewhere that he was the nicest guy in the world with the kids in the cast.
@@tommym321 he almost always plays villains. He did in Roots and in the Twilight zone movie
Brilliant finish to a brilliant film. If only Bizet could hear his triumphant theme playing for these kids! Thanks for posting!
classic...great cast and that music got me hooked
best ending to a movie, EVER! this is real movie making
This film was what made me familiar with Toreador's March.
Thanks for saving me a google search.

I thought it was amazing. Let me know what you think. : )
The greatest baseball movie ever!
People think Major League is the best baseball comedy which is not even close to this masterpiece
@@donaldumunawa4787 what about a league of their own

My dad loved Lucky Lager Beer. RIP Pops.
LOL. "Thank you,sir".
'thank you sir'. Lol
They're drinking Lucky Lager! Brewed in San Francisco.
Hey Yankees ... For some reason that quote popped in to my head at work in the middle of my night shift. I hadn't seen that movie since childhood. Thanks for posting
Denny's is good when it's 3 a.m. and you're drunk
I'LL DRINK TO THAT
KIds drinking beer, smoking pot, checking out playboys...the way it was..
what was the point of that kid's apology if he was going to include an insult...good for tanner
Owen Daniels it was supposed to be condescending
It still was a terrible apology
Chico's Bail Bonds as the team's sponsor. Lucky Lager beer. God, I wish the USA were more like this now a days. Good times.

story of every Mets season
I'm watching this while wearing a #12 Tanner Boyle jersey.
Hahahaha!! This one of my favorite movies eva!! :D
If you didn't love this movie, then you need to run back to your "safe space" and stay there.
bad ass classic. enuf said. 1970s.

Mike Vanriel yes
Thank you sir

Irony, I guess. This wasn't an excuse, it was a humiliation.
Attaboy, Looper!
Bears 🐻4 life!!!
I always wondered why they used the music from Bizet's Carmen.
To save money. They didn't have to pay someone to compose a score, and because it's so old it's out of copyright, so no royalties to pay.
Love tanner 👍👍👍og 👍👍👍
This movie taught me how to lose with class
It killed me to see those little mamzers win.
@Petsister--the movie was remade in 2005 and stars Billy Bob Thornton
just wait till next year !!!!
Classic
The Yankees kid that gave the lame apology sure has some feminine tendencies.
+rhino3784 Maybe he's a transgender.
@@newalm It IS California
I always thought that too. The way his hands are on his hips and all.
Saw this Movie at the theatre back in '76 with my brothers and as kids though we really said a lot worse than what these kids said.

Are those wide-mouth Sterlings they're drinking? That takes me back.
The Big Mouth Sterling. The good old days! 😎
Even though they lost the game, they feel like they were still champions of the league.
Next year, they did win the championship.
The original ending here will always beat the remake! Period.
Brian I tried watching 5 minutes of the remake Threw up watching the softball player twerk, And once I saw the boys and I had to turn it off.
Mini Kiss is going down

That remake was the worst! The original rules.
Did your coach give you a beer?
@ohmosess i agree
1:37
that's child abuse now.
@snowydro1 Wikipedia says that they win the championship the following season.
why are there no coments for five nights at freddy's? btw the song wolud be the ending if there is a fnaf movie
@snowydro1 - Bad continuity is the answer.

What is the song at the end??
Bizet: Carmen-act II-chanson du toréador
Amen, bro, your right. That's whats wrong with society. No one can laugh, it's all lawsuits and complaining.
@chefjoey229 And another thing just wait till next year!
I hated every second place/participant trophy I ever got as a kid. What a fraud.
@theyearofourlordig88 Wow, 2007 called, they want their insult back.
The Yankees might have won the game, but The Bears won the day!
@stankerpooch fuck yes
@theyearofourlordig88 Nope. The sharks are notorious chokers in the playoffs, but a hockey discussion isn't really necessary on a baseball video.
@klabkebash ... and smoke at work! Bye-bye, Good Ol' Days! ';-P
it would be reasonable to say the person who dislikes this clip doesn't approve of underage drinking...but 0 dislikes -_-
Texas Rangers.
ok i give up what the song.
From the opera "Carmen": "Toreador Song".
You're obviously joking.
@theyearofourlordig88 You must be a Giants fan...oh well have fun not making the postseason! >:)
There is no second place. Second sucks.
