Our passion for building the most-robust performance products on the market has driven us to create a refined version of one of the hardest-working parts of your vehicle's turbo system. Best of all, we’re offering the new GrimmSpeed BPVs as a direct fit for all of the major Subaru platforms including: 08-14 WRX/05-09 LGT, 04-21 STI and 15-21 WRX. We aimed to create an extremely durable bypass valve that could hold double the pressure of the stock unit, while still being a stylish part that compliments the other GrimmSpeed Parts under your hood. This video covers the install of the 15-21 WRX FA20 version and the video in the following link gives you a breakdown of what these valves do and shows you a quick install on the WRX/STI EJ-series engine: • NEW PRODUCT: GrimmSpee... Finally a straight up video on how to install an aftermarket BPV. I'm tired of 18 minute videos of guys talking about their cars and then showing a 1 minute install with no details.
just watched the new release video...fantastic stuff. Thanks Grimspeed.
😎
Amazon work guys! Excited to install this
I have spent 2 hours trying to get the BPV off the turbo inlet 😅
🥰
Amazon install man
sigh.. * adds to cart * 💳
Boom. Ordered.
Awesome! These are flying off the shelves already!
So if your running a Cobb intake and AP you can’t run this or can you without a specific map?
Easy peaky awesome 👍
Agreed! We are excited!
Just installed on my 2015 WRX by the ets front mount intercooler, is the sounds normally quieter with running the front mount with it not being worked n the turbo inlet?
Looks like a great product! Will say with subaru cars adding aftermarket performance parts without a tune seems risky lol
So I basically bought a male to male extension and extra tubing and made it work. A bit tacky looking but according to Subaru, some WRXs had shorter vacuum lines than others. My line was short like 2 and a half centimeters.
shoot, did yall convice me that i need this too? hell yeah ya did
We hope so!
I need the same stuff for my 2017 wrx😲
Question , what is the adjustment for on the side with that screw do I just leave that alone ? Assuming probably maybe just a manufacturing step ?
That is an inspection port. For the most part you can leave it alone, unless for some reason you need to look inside.
@@GrimmSpeed thank you glad I left it alone, if’s on the car and sounds awesome , in the middle of an e tune can’t wait to see how it all turns out, got it last night and couldn’t wait haha nice easy install , I’ll grab the turbo inlet next 🤙🏽
my vacuum reference line was slightly too short and also didn’t fit very snug on the port for it
Same what did you do to fix it
I currently have an ETS FMIC with the intercooler piping option for the OEM BPV. It seems like this would still be a 1-1 swap without issue as the shape of the grimmspeed “mimics” the OEM. What are your thoughts? Install would be an absolute breeze (way easier than this) Also curious if I still would not have any tuning issues if I am already protuned
BPVs do not require a tune. You can replace the oem and you’ll be fine
If you still have the OEM mounting flange you shouldn't have any issue swapping it out. No tuning required for the BPV either.
So there's no tuning required for the Grimmspeed turbo inlet or the Grimmspeed BPV ?
Is any trimming necessary of the stock inlet necessary? I saw that it was required for others
It might not be necessary, but you won't know until you actually do it. On some WRX's, it may need to be done, and on others, it may not need to be done. When I got a Boomba bypass valve, I did not need to do any trimming of the factory inlet connection, unlike other purchasers. It could have been because the turbo inlet on those models was designed differently for those model years(15-17) or because of other factors such as the charge pipe bypass valve connection placement varying by a few millimeters per manufacturer
Mine required trimming. It was off by 5mm, the inlet would not line up with the turbo after install. Also the oem vacuum hose was too short by an inch and a half.
@@snickerfingers8255 Did you need to replace your vacuum line or did you just use Boombas extension?
@@gwynbleidd7177 the boomba extension works but its a very tight fit. I just ended up keeping my boomba.
@@snickerfingers8255 Thanks. I have it connected atm with my normal vacuum line but it's a bit tightly pulled atm which has me concerned.
So i ran into an odd issue. My Vacuum Reference line seems too short when I did my install. Anyone else run into this issue??
That’s a strange thing to happen. It is in the same location as OE. If you are still dealing with this issue give our support team a call. I am sure they can point you in the right direction.
I had the same issue. I made it fit, but I’m constantly worried it will pop off either end
@@joethornton3313 I ended up getting a male to male connector and purchasing a vacuum hose and cutting it to length. I then zip tied each end. Its been holding up quite well.
Installed mine 10/11/2023 and I noticed on my 21 WRX the vacuum hose that connects to the swivel part didn’t reach like my oem one and it was loose on it. Was extra hose needed to install?
I’m having the same issue, did u figure it out?
@@jacobepringle1293 same issue here
Still having same issue has anyone got any fix ? Also I’m throwing a code now
So I’ve ran the car for months now and everything is still ok hose is still on with no issues performance wise, I have seen some people use a zip tie to secure it but I don’t think it’s necessary unless you feel you need it to be safe then sorry.
Is there a way to making the noise louder? Haha asking for a friend
Running an aftermarket intake will increase the sound put out by the bpv. Other than that, if you are planning to keep it a recirculating valve, no.
Will you guys be posting any sound clips?
Theres only so much time in the day! Stay tuned!
This product on stock air intake and stock part need tune ?
No tune required if running stock parts.
do you have to take the inlet off ?
Install would be much easier if you do take the inlet off. Pretty much necessary.
Will this fit factory without Grimspeed charge pipe and inlet ?
Yes. It will fit on OEM chargepipe and inlet
Does this require a tune?
No tune required for the bpv’s
Wonder how the setup is on the 2022
we'll be investigating that shortly, hopefully we can adapt the 15-21 WRX BPV to fit!
@@GrimmSpeed thats awesome thanks
Do you need tune for this?
No tune required for the BPV's
When this be available for forester xt 2009 turbo?
@@GrimmSpeed when this will be available for forester xt 2009
Is it worth purchasing if I have a stock intake?
That’s up to you and your upgrade plans for the future.
No
I’m sorry but if you have a stock intake, don’t buy this. Zero noise change
Although the additional noise is a big reason people replace the bpv on their cars, it is not the only reason. Our bpv provides a better seal than OEM, reducing leaking air leading to more performance. Yes, you will hear the bpv more with an aftermarket intake so make an intake one of your next upgrades after adding the bpv.
Installed the bpv now I get a cel and a po102 code ( also have the GrimmSpeed intake that has been installed prior to.. also tuned by migruning
