A neighbour of mine a few years ago decided he knew what he was doing. decided to drain the oil add some flushing oil then add 5 ltr's of normal oil as he was checking the level he added 2 more ltrs then realised that he had not put the drain plug in before adding the filter approximately 7 ltr's of oil running down the road.
we had oil coming in our house and the tracks on the road stretched the whole length corner to corner the road was about half a mile long and because it was stone chipped tarmac no matter what I put down or what the local authority put down it ended up going after 3 months by the road being re-stone chipped. Oh and the Muppet refused to pay for carpets damaged by his stupidity and he had no insurance, try getting engine oil out of carpets.
The stock unit is a BPV that strictly recirculates left over boost pressure. Safest to keep it recirc, but sounds nice with a little vent to atmosphere. My 02 wrx ran the GFB adjustable hybrid which was nice to have best of both. Love the car!
Luis Lynch-Maldonado Lol no it's not. First of all if they ran it full atmosphere it would just run rich between shifts. No big deal. Second of all, they are about to tune it. Again no big deal.
oONoChanc3Oo What are you saying? Venting to atmosphere is not bad for the motor? Running overly rich between shifts is ok? You'll foul your spark plugs faster and the catalytic converter will burn up, too. Wasting more money on maintenance that could have been avoided. I hear that a Pro-Tuner can tune out the negative effects of venting to atmosphere but why? So you can have loud choochoo sounds? If you have a built motor that is pushing high HP/TQ then it probably would be more beneficial. Putting an atmospheric venting BOV on a mainly stock EJ205 is a bad idea. Just my $0.02...
Luis Lynch-Maldonado Running catless and it's a zero issue on a cat. And bov sounds good. You obviously don't enjoy it but that doesn't mean others don't. Tune and everything is fine. Especially since you will need a tune for what he has done already to the car.
I got a 3 inch spec d exhaust and Cobb downpipe. An HKS intake and Cobb Stage 2 accessport. My Perrin BOV sounds pretty loud and does flutter. Once you tune it'll definitely be louder.
Nice job on the video, a quick FYI though: Engine needs to be under load to see any significant boost pressure! Without it the engine is sucking air faster than the turbo can spool, exceptions to this would be the implementation of launch control or an anti-lag system. The More You Know!
scott horton bigger isn’t for more airflow. Bigger is for cooling purposes. That’s the whole point for intercoolers, to cool the compressed air from the turbo. Soooo not exactly.
@@boosti_alex1428 They're still right though, A larger volume of cooler air is able to pass through the larger width and height of an upsized intercooler which helps cool hot air from the turbo quicker than a smaller one. That's also why these cars have hood scoops (for much more efficient air flow to the intercooler)
Love the car more and more, hoping you'll do a black (carbon would be nice, but no not practical and price is too high) hood to match black roof, as I like that look. But that's just me & if I win this car, which I doubt I would cuz unluckiest person on earth, I'd do a black carbon wrap on the hood(as can't afford real carbon fiber hood right now) & put a carbon fiber wrap on a diff wing on trunk. Yeah, I'm crazy like that & have a particular looking taste when comes to WRXs😎🙃🤗 Car is gonna be great when finished, so can't wait! Have a good one guys, A
I have a question about where the middle line from the grimmspeed aos connects to after you removed the steel crank case vent piping? It would of been the part you did off video.
It keeps the intake charge from crashing into your closed throttle body, sending the air backwards causing your turbo/compressor wheel from spinning backwards.... It sounds heckn cool tho. But it's terrible for your turbo to get compressor surge "frequently"
I am new to Subaru. i watched a bypass valve install video and it was under the car. Why is the blow off valve on top and bypass valve on bottom(under the car) ? dont they serve the same purpose? No I do not own a subaru. I plan to buy one soon
When it comes to the EJ engines from what I hear they’re finicky about stuff like that more than other cars so getting a tune after is recommended. Unless you wanna run rich.
@@con575 you can't tune for a bov. The bov vents after the maf so no matter what the Car still thinks the air is being recurulated back to the intake after maf. That's the exact reason I'm going back to recurulated/ bypass valve from atmospheric one.i told my tuner this and he said it was a great idea because the tune will be more on point. The only way to get it to work on a subaru is switching to speed density which is kinda pointless.
How did you connect the hoses? That is literally the most important part and it’s not included I have no idea how to use the t splits it came with and where they go. It’s not working so frustrating
When I had my 2G Talon TSi AWD I ran a Turbosmart Dual Port BOV on it that was amazing. It was one that you could adjust how much was recirculated and how much was vented to the atmosphere. It was great if you wanted a little more noticeable sound but without messing with the air flow of the way the engine is supposed to run. ruclips.net/video/CJuQG7ccuVY/видео.html

Everyone knows is an ascetic thing, sound wise. There really is no harm in running a bov. Worse case scenario is it may negligibly hurt performance. People love telling people what their doing is wrong but fortunately for them they have the right answer.

Do a audio install like the m3 please. From my experience subaru oem audio is trash...whoever wins the car will thank you!!!
I dig that hat bro. you given thought to an intercooler upgrade? grimmspeed makes a good top mount and some associated parts that are pretty dope
Cant see the mickeyspec sticker???
I just bought a 2005 WRX with no mods, I been binge watching these older videos, thank you!
Throtl went all out with those perrin parts 🔥
I Love the fact that perrin brings all the diy instructions that are so detailed . 👌🏽 comes in handy.
Or in Subaru speak, “bro-off valve”
What in gods name are you using to record video? A potato?
You know, I'm something of a rally car driver myself.
@@user-ws3sl9xi7y do you own a 22B sti

If it's going to be tune might as well add a downpipe to really open up the car and make the most of that tune.
Alexelgreato a up pipe on a blob eye wrx would be more of a benefit as if they go the cat just destroys the turbo

that is a recirculating blow off valve, the noise your hearing is through the intake system.

Another awesome video! Loving the WRX content!!
rockin that fire illiminate apparel ok!
When you have a recirculating BOV if you run an intake it will be much louder, and obviously tune the car if you get a CAI.
Sounds pritty good nice bro
Hope you guys do catless uppipe, and a high flow cat downpipe for performace and safety. Would be a shame to have it tune without a downpipe.
The engine is a ej20 or ej25?
Thanks great vid, it will definitely help me to install my own blowoff valve on my ej25

That BOV won't benefit you at all on a TD04. The stock BPV is efficient.

i was thinking the same thing just now
I hope you're putting more boost to it while tuning it because that is really weak. Doesn't even make enough boost to need a blow off valve.
