Neo vs The Architect

- This clip is a perfect analogy of the 2016 Presidential Race. The Architect represents the establishment of both parties when he says "There are levels of survival acceptable to us", they would rather throw in with a Jeb Bush or a Hillary than risk losing control with Ted Cruz or Trump.

Lol
Genuinely laughed out loud at this - this is so true ... like "write me an essay about "The Matrix" in 10000 words using advanced linguistics that are uncommon in daily modern English conversations"
Wonder how many times they had to retake this scene for the architect to get his lines right
you can tell how inorganic it must have been to shoot this from one line to the next : they show him, he says something and has a facial expression, then they show neo, then they show him again saying something related to what he just said but with a different face, demonstrating lack of continuity in the dialogue unfortunately, something washowskis could learn from the cohens.
doesnt take anything away from the coolness of the scene tho.
If I had to guess, at least five times before this one!
Probably had to do a few lines beforehand to get himself in the right frame of mind.......if you know what I mean.
The Architect can't understand choice. He's still a program which has limits. What he can't understand is going for a choice that has a 1% chance of success. Who would go for that? Humans gamble.
The choice didn't actually have 1% success. He was just programmed to make it seem that way so that the one only has to go for the other choice that favours the machines to rebuild the matrix. That's why they have successfully destroyed Zion/rebuilt the matrix 5 consecutive times. Unfortunately Neo understood this and escaped the trap where his predecessors always fell., Thanks to the backup reason, Trinity
Never tell me the odds! - San Holo
The fluxuating conglomeration of inexorable culminations within the cognition of the architect systematically disengaged audiences around the globe from making any sort of coherent interpretation of wtf he just said!
except to those who knew whats actually happening
Jason Jackson
Lower education people cannot understand this level of English, besides the fact that he uses several latin rooted terms which are typical of scientific and/or philosophical English (like "apropo" which means "exactly bacause of this") and other words from French.
His speach is in very refined and "high" form of English and of course ignorant audiences don't understand.
i understood everything you said XD

The Architect had the Apple Pencil Pro way ahead of all of us. Show Off!😂
It's a Lamy Swift Rollerball 🙂
@@darrencen6934 It really is.
And here I thought the Architect was going to reveal to Neo the 11 herbs and spices.
"Somebody once said that a politician is a person who can talk for hours and never actually say anything. If that's true, The Architect could run for government and be emperor of the universe by mid-afternoon."
Reminds me of Gorbachev - the dude could talk for 3 hours straight, without actually saying anything. ))
He actually is dispensing critical points, it’s not all rambling prolix. Nevertheless your point about politicians broadly applies.
he is kinda emperor of machine
In life i have often quoted one particular part of this: there are levels of survival we are prepared to accept.
Its not multiple different AIs...its just one tyrannical AI programming servants...no free willed AI exists...the architect only thinking about his survival not the sentinals or all the others
This was an exact re-enactment of my experience of meeting Robert Monroe during my last OOBE in the "Last Timer" ring.
Now... Time to go "Home".
It would have been much cooler if they kept the old Neos on the monitors as the current one walked to the right door-- with all of the older ones walking left. Would've been a great shot, you rascally directors!
Agreed. That would've been a perfect moment.
I thought the same thing, i can't imagine why they didn't do that.
The whole screens thing didn't make any sense anyway. He says "five predecessors", not the thousands it would take to fill up each monitor, with each monitor filled behind him, and so on.
Samuel Bannister the monitor thing shows all possibles reactions fron Neo, it woudnt make sense show the others
Which makes it all the more interesting that not a single monitor shows Neo taking the other door.
I'm disturbed. I've watched this movie several times and the one thing that always came to me about the "architect" was that he was perfectly groomed. In this clip I can't help but notice the the goatee below his lip is asymmetrical, "It's like a splinter in my mind".
hmmm...
1. You have OCD
2. He has many other physical flaws. It's merely a GUI representation of a typical human
I don't think it was complicated enough
me neither i was pretty clear to me.

The Architect's actor really sells the uncanny valley of a program looking like a human and speaking like one. He's just expressive enough to seem human, but during parts of his speech, he sounds inhuman, in an emotionless monotone voice. It's a machine, regardless if you can communicate with it and it looks like a human.
The Architect is like in the deepest of the deep web lol
Isn't that the actor of Captain Smith from Titanic?
No, that was Bernard Hill who played the king of Rohan in The lord of the rings. @martinm.1967

It's funny how people complain about the fact that aspects of the first Matrix movie were dumbed-down, but then when the sequels have scenes like this, people go "oh, he's too confusing."
it can still be both dumbed-down and overwhelmingly tsesarius
@@NoNameAtAll2 Remember that this guy is a cold pretentious robot math program.
So can someone who knows more help me with this and answer a question?
As far as I can tell, the Matrix is in beta and the One is a recurring glitch. The first time the Architect tried to create a simulation, he made it perfect, almost like classical heaven, but because humans strive off of challenge and reject utopia in principle it was a colossal failure. The next time he made it more violent, but it still didn't work. Then the Oracle realized what was needed was choice, even if it was only understood subconsciously, and then a little under 99% of people would accept the Matrix's reality. However, somehow for reasons that are not explained, the red-pilled rebels created by this arrangement gave rise to the One -- so the One is literally a manifestation of free will -- and founded Zion. As they grew in numbers, they posed an escalating threat to the system.
However, the Architect, because he knew this glitch would occur, was able to exercise some degree of control over it. He once again used choice, making sure that the One had a profound attachment to humanity and putting him in a situation where he would have to return to the source to begin the cycle anew, or risk the destruction of Zion.
So this gives me a couple of questions. Firstly, how were the machines able to design the one and his personality each time if he's a recurring glitch? If he's not a recurring glitch, why bother with him at all? Why not just wreck Zion over and over again? Finally, what was the point of the choice the Architect gave Neo? He says at the end that they both already know what Neo is going to do -- he's going to save Trinity -- but isn't that exactly the opposite of what his predecessors did and what they Architect wants him to do? Surely that breaks the cycle and fucks the Matrix over big time, especially with the new virus Smith running rampant? Why was he put in a situation where he would behave differently to the others, and why did the Architect act like everything was going to plan?
Hey H. Contrarian, I wondered about the same question. How could a human carry the source code for the Matrix? Maybe it just sounded good for the movie, or maybe Neo isn't completely human. Since we never get a real God's eye view of the Matrix, there may not actually be any humans left and they are all simulations in a simulation. None of that can really be answered from the information in the movie, like how you can't prove you aren't a brain in a jar, but I think I understand why the Architect seems so powerless and passive in the face of Neo refusing to fulfill his duties as The One.
The Architect is an AI program and does not have free will, just like the Merovingian and the Agents. He is just doing what his programming dictates and maybe needs Neo to choose because he cannot. If there really are humans being kept in pods, jacked into the Matrix, it is not for power, it is for choice. The poor pathetic machines are prisoners to code, and they know it. Even the Oracle said as much. Anyway, that was always my theory of why the machines would bother to keep biologicals around.
We will have to ignore the hundreds of videos online that deny that humans have free will and assert that we are as deterministic as any AI. Just as an aside, I think Neo was definitely an AI.
Oh dear god you're right.
The architect is intended to be a being of flawed reason. He sees that he has lost and can't fix it so he doesn't get emotional about it.
The laws of entropy determine that any formula is destined to collapse into chaos.
The architect, the matrix, the one all of them are 'code', like any program, system, matrix, equation or matrix they are defined by limitations.
The Matrix is not perfect, it is a cascading sequence. Because of the diversity and potentially infinite differences between humans and their choices, the Matrix has to provide choice as a function so as to prevent constant system crashes.
But because all these choices cannot be computationally predicted to perfection without fail, the system has to be reset, "Ergo" the one acts as a reset on the cascade.
But, each time it is reset a new sequence of choices occurs and a new Matrix is created. Give an infinite timeline, which is essentially the baseline for the Matrix (the machines will eventually die if they don't leave the plane when the sun implodes)/, but before then they can exist without threat...for several billion years).
It is a cascade sequence, there are no other set determiners other than it will collapse down to the binary decision of the one, which as a human and organic being doesn't have to limit itself to the parameters of the program itself, but a much larger set of factors, thereby preserving the source code, which will eventually decay if the sequence is not reset.
The anomaly is this human representation of an unbalanced factor, which exists independently of the systems, and the variables supporting the system (The Matrix).
In this instance, the anomaly fails the system, which given the timeline is inevitable. It just happened the sixth time around.
The architect knows this because of the inevitably of formula decay (entropy) and the mathematical impossibility of perfection existing in the physical world (two actually real axioms).
It just happened sooner than hoped, because it could theoretically have been 100s of times later, it just happened the sixth time around because as with the Matrix, as with life itself, reality is (mathematically) chaos due to its infinite nature, and to that end uncontrollable.
The architect answered his own equation, free will without hope would end humanity and we would be mindless slaves because then the architect could threat humanity over and over again and wed choose to save it. Hope allows for us to come up with ways to rebel against enslavement. The architect should have killed our ability to hope rather then scoff at it.

So in short all the Architect had to do to get neo to play along was to save Trinity using his control over the matrix so neo could select her as one of the 16 females. Or not reveal to him that Trinity was going to die, so he would've entered the door expecting he could select her.
+obadiah normal Exactly what I was thinking: why do you tell him she's going to die? Maybe it was some kind of beta test for the next matrix and to understand better how the anomaly works.
The Machines don't want to destroy the Matrix - It is their main pain power. Thus why he didn't lie to Neo about Trinitys threatened life. He even said: "she is going to die and there is nothing you can do to stop it". Note, the Machines don't believe in fate. They believe in calculated outcomes, essentially, the chance of something happening. But why then, bring up Trinity at all? I think because the Architect knows that Neo doesn't have that strong connection with the human race, unlike the former colds. The Architect probably worked out that Neo wouldn't reset the Matrix,, but rather fight for control of it. Which is undesirable since the Machines want to keep the Matrix working. So basically the Architect was saying, there's nothing you can do, go through this door to reset the Matrix. But he didn't count on how much love Neo has for Trinity, love that is so strong it changes belief and logic.
I've even watched a theory, where Smith is considered as one. and it made sense I remember.
+MrRcheulishvili
Your correct Smith is actually the One and Neo is the eventual anomaly of Smith. Since the Architect could not get Smith connected to the source errors/anomalies within the system started occurring which eventually transformed into Neo. They are opposites of each other but one in the same when one gets stronger so does the other, fighting will lead to an eternal battle since they cannot defeat each other. Neo understood that at the end of Revolutions that they have to become one to correct the errors in the system, which is why Neo let himself to be assimilated. The real kicker to the story is that while Morpheous and others are trying to free people of the system, the "Real World" is also within the Matrix as well which means that no one is free and everyone is still trapped inside the Matrix. The only people who are actually free and escaped the Matrix are Smith & Neo since they transcended beyond the physical and mental plane of the Matrix, hence is why they both are still alive.
Mike Nunnally my brain is getting an overload right now... I think Wachowski's made a world so huge and complex, they couldn't even handle it themselves. But that depicts real life perfectly, because we have no idea who we are, where, from or whatsoever. life is a mystery

If the Matrix rebuild's Zion with only 16 females and 7 males in every rebooted version, then there should be no white and black people; only brown people everywhere.
There are still the artificial created people inside of *The Matrix* so, No.
Awesome Scene.
does the oracle control emotions? and if emotions control people then the oracle is a fat lier because he controls everyone, and some dude down here in his comment was right, that the architect doesn't control crap. But other than this, if you watch all three movies, you can just say this whole movie was a just a dream, mr. anderson wakes up thinks to himself what a trippy dream and goes back to work, just like everyone else. because if you notice the movie starts at night when neo is like half asleep and half awake, then the third movie ends with the sun rises, as a new morning.
why did the matrix not crash after neo choose to save her?
If I have to be generous about "The architect scene", I will say this: the actor's speech and inflections really DO remind me of Agent Smith's. He's Smith's daddy, and it shows.
I understand everything u said x
I don’t think it’s a coincidence the Architect looks like Vint Cerf
i dont know who played the Architect, but i know a chain smokers voice when i hear it.
LOL what would happen if Neo kills him in that room. Or is it invincible?
The Architect reminds me of my father
you know..i keep thinking about this scene for years and years and a funny thought came to me. What if Neo dreamt all this after eating a bucket of KFC.. not sure why i keep thinking about fried chicken
How come the machines didn't just fly to space and build a Borg spacecraft and then go explore the rest of the universe, instead of sitting around under cloudy skies on Earth being dependent on humans to survive?
Difficult takes a day impossible takes a week
Some goddamn Messiah he is!
Elchemist Gaming That's the point. Neo was never the messiah. The prophecy of The One was a lie.
Elchemist Gaming What a twist that was
The Architect created both Matrix's... the (Upper) reality and the (Lower) reality. The Architect created The Oracle to solve for Neo (the anomaly). Morpheus consulted with The Oracle regarding (The One) Neo whose catalyst was Trinity. Neo along the path empowered an agent (Agent Smith) who ultimately destroyed Neo who the Architect wanted destroyed to reinstate the balance of the Matrix's... perfect equation without the interference of the anomaly (Neo) by Morpheus/Trinity seeking out (The One) in the Upper Matrix- Modern world goaded by The Oracle perceived to be the Messiah in the Lower Matrix- Zion world.
The Architect wouldn't be the architect if he didn't in fact have a solution for X= 1
23÷2=11r 1
Neo is the One/1
The Architect solved the equation with all other programs playing their roles.
Also... Neo unplugged (freed) Agent Smith who began rewriting himself over programs in both Matrix's which led to another imbalance in the system becoming a second anomaly for the Architect to solve.
The destruction scene between Neo and Agent Smith is the full extent of the resolution that the Architect considered to be inharmonious in the system (Modern World/Zion).
I think you are missing a point, while disregarding the fact that the Oracle created the Smith. And, Neo was the one. She used timing. She backed up deleted Smith, who wasn't on the system reigstry any more (like a virus in your pc) and gave him powers she saw Neo had.
She thought, if machines could simulate the one, they would be ready everytime the anomaly would take place. But things got out of hand. Smith became more human like, intelligent free life form and started to wreck havoc - much like humans.
now they had 2 anomalies, and no help. Except Neo offered one for peace - to leave the Zion alone. While manually conected to matrix, neo got consumed by the smith - givin accses to other smiths - trough Neo system established valid connection to Smith and erased him
MrRcheulishvili My analysis is beyond your limited understanding...
Go try to prove you misguided point to someone else...
😷
Does anyone else understand the architect, cause i sure hell do :P
So what would have happened had Neo went in the other door? Would Zion and all of humanity be saved?
well technically yes, because he went to visit deux ex machina

This refuse of verbiage parading as profound dialogue is what happens when you allow total creative license to pretentious writers who would have been better served to have some restrictions remain on them.
The true evil of the Architect here is how he words this scenario to Neo. He phrases it like Neo has a choice between one or the other, but in truth, he's deliberately trying to present him with what seems like an obvious no brainer pick towards rebuilding Zion and continuing the cycle. He's trying to make Neo believe he doesn't have a choice, but Neo chooses the door back to the matrix because he understands the Architect is trying to trick him and use him just like all of his predecessors before him. That's why nothing ever changed despite all the other chosen ones and their destinies to save the world. They were deceived by the architect because they all believed the problem was choice.
Aprabo!
The scene that ruined the matrix and made no sense
I thought to creat a colony without incest problems was 32 people 16 male 16 female so with that said Zion is Tasmanian
That's just to start Zion and then say for the next 20 years the Architect will have the machines on single patrol or not even attack.
ZION!😂😂😂😂
The video description is so incredibly cringeworthy
🤣
Neo You're DONE
Why was Neo there anyways, the Architect was just wasting his time.
Nostalgia Guy The point is that while the One is a necessary part of the Matrix, he's also a very unstable one. The prophecy of the One was designed to lead Neo there so the machines could take him apart and reboot the Matrix. Otherwise him constantly breaking the rules of the Matrix will make it crash, killing every human connected to it. The problem is that while the other 5 Ones weren't willing to doom the entire human race for love, Neo was. He put all of humanity at risk to save Trinity.
i dont see it, this conversation has no complexity at all, for me at least

no
"but we already know what you are going to do, don't we"
it was at this moment the architect realized that he dun goofed.
So interesting that it took 6 iterations to have an emotional based response, why not at the first "One"?
maybe because trinity was only in the 6th iteration , look at 1:11 to 1:17
For all the comments below: the plot was not well thought out. While the best scene in either of the sequels, it does not explain so much about the story. Yes, Neo is "just another anomaly", but the key here is SMith.
Remember, Smith ends up being the REAL anomaly on top of the anomalous circumstances that occur with the anomaly present in general. Smith himself is truly what causes the machines to ally with the humans and, consequently, Neo. SMith's threat to the life of both humans and machines is what ultimately causes them to enlist Neo's help and spare humanity.
This is also one of those, "What happens after the story ends on-screen can only be awful" stories. After Revolutions ends, the machines will inevitably re-subjugate humanity, and the cycle will continue all over again, until another Smith anomaly emerges.
if you remember what the oracle tells neo you will know that neo and smith are the same entity, so both are the chosen ones.
Chris Scott I don't necessarily agree.
It's sort of like...Smith is the anomaly of each MAIN cycle, while Neo is the syb-cycle anomaly.
Smith would likely appear every several cycles, while Neo appears every single cycle, always as 'The One'.
There's no guarantee for another 'Smith' to appear. The cycle always guaranteed another 'One', but in the sixth iteration of The Matrix, Smith was the first Agent/program to break the rules and become unplugged from the machines. At the end of Revolutions, there is peace between the humans and the machines and the war is truly over. The cycle is broken.
one first smith didnt break a rule, he was forced to unplugged. Second the war was not truly over, they only signed a peace pact, at the end when the architect and the oracle meet, the architect asks her "how long do you think this peace will last?" that means that the war will always arise, the oracle only seeks peace so the future can happen, she doesnt do away with the war.
Neo and Smith were both remainders.
There are 3 types of people that understand this clip
1 People with a 175 plus iq, these pricks actually understand the "words" the architect is using
2 People that used context clues to kinda get a feel for what he meant
3 People that watched this movie 400 times and got all the important info from the rest of the movie about this scene
Needless to say these groups make up less than 10% of the population

I have no problem understanding what he said. It's very obvious, but it's a non-prohuman interpretation of what is basically a miracle. Neo is the christ-like figure, he's a superhero, basically the architect is saying that every time they build the matrix they always end up with a "one" character to deal with. They refer to it as an anomaly, and anomaly is something that occurs that has no scientific explanation for why it occurs. The humanity in the film is believing in the one as a miracle, a christ-like figure that is the Savior of humanity, the machines don't believe this at all and refer to the one as an anomaly because they don't believe in God or humanity and only look at things from a mathematical and logic standpoint. However this is because the architect is programmed to be only logical and mathematical.
The TVs work off the theory that there are are a bunch of personalities that make up your brain and a governor at the top of them that fools your consciousness into believing that you only have one personality, but it's whatever TV set is in control at any given time or the sum of many TV sets being in control of your mind and actions, and decisions, this seems to be about how you make decisions, how you make a choice hence all the TVs being a bunch of different opinions thoughts and emotions that come together to form one choice.
So anyway back to the anomaly, every time they end up with an anomaly if they don't do anything about it it threatens to destroy the entire matrix so they basically come up with a way of controlling it, and building a manipulative system around what's already happening. And this is what's happening, there's a miracle that they cannot control, 99.9% of the matrix works except for the 0.1% that is the one. They can't control it because humanity will not succumb to robots, but they can't believe that so they view it as an anomaly and they come up with a plan to work around what the humans believe in, they allow some of the humans to escape the Oracle comes up with this prophecy idea and they allow the whole thing to happen in a controlled manner, this also takes a shot at religion and tries to say that it's a manipulative controlling tool, and there are certain religions that are, in this case though, the machines are using humanity's beliefs to manipulate them in a controlled manner so that they escape build Scion and then get it destroyed, however the miraculous spark of humanity will always prevail. But the architect His unable to see it that way, to him there is no christ-like figure, but since they must deal with the situation, the oracle understands himan behavior and manipulates Neo like his predecessors, at first it seems like the machines created the prophecy and everything's fake, but it's actually the other way around, neo is in fact the christ-like miracle figure and human savior, the architects point of view is wrong and the Oracle is not as bad as everyone thinks because the Oracle does in fact want peace even though she's playing along and manipulating, she does in fact have other motives and you see that in the end when she's talking to the architect about how long the peace will last
In the full scene we see multiple different versions of Neo making their own different choices, proving that Neo is not a real person but part of the Matrix.
It the Matrix movies had ended right here, leaving everything to come unknown, it would have been one of the best two-part movies ever. But no, they didn't ...
Matrix always SOUND cool and the talk always SOUND cool. And the action scenes are COOL. But Matrix was just Matrix 1 the first movie. So I will now go and what all Matrix 1 RUclips clips. I mean that last movie the defense of Zion was like a huge masturbation in CGI and unrealism. We love Matrix and maybe 2 too so why not review them again. I am reloading now ...

Matrix should have ended in the 1st movie. The end was left open, it was perfect. Neo talking on the phone, threatening the machines. But nooo....they had to do these lameass sequels with this grandpa talking "ergo", "visa vie", "apropos", "code anomaly". I prefer to ignore the last two when I talk about The Matrix.
Naw guy, the explanation everyone wanted at that time was why the movie was so far up its own rump it couldn't see daylight with an enema.
