  • macmost.com/e-2200 There are many ways to take notes with your mac whether it is in a school lecture or at a work meeting. You can use built-in apps like Notes, TextEdit or Pages. You can get third-party apps like OneNote, Noted, Bear or GoodNotes. There are many also ways to record audio while taking notes.

    I can't say how much I appreciate the video tutorials in this channel. They are brisk, clear, well-organized. Immensely satisfying.
    This one in particular is super useful for the planning task of deciding which of many note-taking apps to use. I would have spent hours and hours trying to figure this out.
    Thanks, Gary!

    I've been using Agenda (iOS & macOS versions) for awhile now and I like the calendar integration, categorizing, and tagging features.

    This was helpful. I have been trying to decide what info to keep in Apple Notes via MS Word. Both will run on all my devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac). I think you answered it; use Notes for quick things I want to jot down or capture, then eventually move the stuff I want to keep to Word.

    Thank you for your video and I can see you did highlight some of the text in your note please can you tell us how did you do that, please?

    I like using my Apple Pencil with my iPad in Notes - scribble is an option, but I prefer keeping my handwritten notes as handwritten.
    As far as I can tell, Notes is the only option from Apple where you can write handwritten notes (without scribble turning your handwriting to computer text) and also have it in a searchable format. I wish Pages allowed this - you can insert handwritten notes as drawings on pages, but you can’t search through handwriting like you can in Notes. I think an app called Notability has this feature.

    Another great video :-).
    Just FYI, RTF is portable, but RTFD is not. If you add attachments (e.g., pictures) to a RTF file, then TextEdit will save the file as a RTFD bundle (name.rtfd).

      One note is the only app that have the modern user interface in Mac 🤷‍♂️. All should have it.

    Macmost, "How To Take Notes For School Or Work On a Mac" was rather disappointing. Other tutorials in using "Notes" were much more useful and better for saving money. Notes is a very rich app within the Apple ecosystem. The ability to sync within Macbooks, iPhone, and iPads are unique. To be able to add youtube videos, urls, voice recordings, pdfs files, as well as your own freehand notes or typed, makes Notes powerful. Finally, as a student, saving money is paramount; Notes are included. So review your own notes and try again. I have learned from your other videos such as the "Calendar vs Reminders," which was helpful. Keep up the great work. Thank you... Peter

    Gary which notes app do you use? I like apple notes but markup turns me off because highlight does not go behind the text and when handwriting and text can't mix on notes.

    excellent! excellent! but...what if I want to go one step further and have my mac transcribe a lecture live? In addition, why won't pages simply type the sound coming out of my phones speaker?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  3 месяца назад

      You'd need an app for that. Not sure if anything is available but it certainly is possible. Not sure what you mean by that last part.

    I like Notes for Mac, but is there any way to paste in RUclips videos and have them play directly from the app?
    OneNote does this. It's a feature I need for our podcast, Total Babble.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  3 года назад

      No, there's no way to embed a RUclips video like that. OneNote is a much more advanced product.

    I'm reselling my  mac air 2020 at $300 loss at purchase price.
    This machine has the worst thermals, I use zoom for office meeting + 2-3 light safari tabs + excel file open in the background. At this super normal non work task this machine's fan is revolving at 5500+rpm and temp is around 95+ degrees C.
    A machine purchased in 2020 at $1300 performing this way seriously breaks my heart. The fan is not attached with the heat pipe/motherboard inside.
    Should've gone for mac pro.CAN U PLEASE CONFIRM IF THESE FAN NOISE AND TEMP IN 90S DEGREES ARE A NORMAL PHENOMENA FOR MACS NO MATTER AIR PRO OR 16INCH?
    Thanks MUCH💯

      @macmost  4 года назад

      Not sure how you want me to "confirm" this? It seems reasonable to me that while streaming video (up and down) and viewing web pages and running Excel, that a MacBook Air would need the fans to stay cool. Probably depends on what is on those web pages (even a "light" page can have an ad, animation or complex behind-the-scenes scripts that make it use energy). Did you use Activity Monitor to see what was using the most energy? If you are using Zoom with background replacement that must take a lot of processor power too.

      Maybe a faulty unit?
      My 2019 MBP 13inch with 2 fans runs fine but can get noisy when processor is working hard

      You could try to recover them from your Time Machine backup. They should be in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Stickies/Data/Library/Stickies

    Wow!! You would rather just use a blank document in pages for taking. You can “always quickly switch into a bullet list and use that as an outline”, but he doesn’t show us how, which is the whole point of the video. Once again, none of my questions were answered.

      You switch formatting in the Format sidebar. I have a video on using bullet lists here: ruclips.net/video/l4XT3pkcytw/видео.html
