  • Hi my loves!
I've been promising you this video for over a year. Well, I couldn't really make myself to do it and digest everything in one seating. Until now.
I'm sharing my whole cabin crew journey, how it started in 2017 and how it ended in 2020.
Thank you for your support and patience with me.
    Love you!

Dear Adriana, I want to hug you and thank you for such an insightful video! I just cannot agree more with everything you said. I was nodding all the time how relatable your experience is to mine. I have worked for another Middle East airline (you know which one) and it was more or less the same. Tbh, now it makes me cringe all these cabin crew influencers who totally brainwash people that this job is just about ''trAveLLinG tHE wORld'' with your fancy hat on your head. Yes, you do travel and get a chance to see nice places, but it's so so far from the image, which is pushed on social media. For example, in New York you get only 24 hours layover (i.e. ~22 after you reach the hotel) when the flight is nearly 14hrs! You're exhausted, your body clock is completely messed up, never sleep and eat at the same time. Not even mentioning dirty passengers who coughing in your face without covering their mouths, throwing up on your skirt, touching you without your permission with their unwashed hands for hours, leaving toilets gross af. And sick policy is so lame. If you're sick, it's always your fault, because ''you're not managing your health properly''. So, if a nauseous child on a flight throws up on me and I get infected and unwell, how come is it my fault lol? People dream about this job when they're stuck in the offices and don't realise that after you work as cabin crew for a while, you start dreaming of a stable job, where you can have your lunch at the same time, sleep during the night and just have peaceful state of mind. Sorry for a long talk and thanks for sharing your story again! Much love to you!

This is so well written. 😥 I'm very sorry that you went through the similar thing. I just wish more crew talked about it openly. I don't follow any crew influencers on IG bc of how toxic is deceiving the reality of the job in ME.

    • @adrianaluptak3832
      @adrianaluptak3832  2 года назад +24

And the layover timings were just worse after adopting EATA rules. We had 22 hrs layover after 16,5 hrs polar flight to LAX! People were complaining, filing fatigue reports and they did nothing (they moved us to airport hotel only so we saved time on transport)

    • @playingwiththedevil587
      @playingwiththedevil587 2 года назад +21

@@adrianaluptak3832 Oh girl, tell me about it... These fatigue reports are also always turned against you. If you're fatigued, it means you're not managing to rest properly, maybe you're ''going out'' instead of sleeping and so on. It always your fault and at the end of the day you'll hear that if you cannot handle the job, there is the queue behind the doors just waiting to take your place.

I am a cabin crew, working for a major carrier, and I must say that being a cabin crew is NOT for everyone, it is NOT easy and you either love it or hate it. This is not only about going to exotic places and getting to fly, this is about service, is about passengers (the good and the bad), is about colleagues (the good and the bad), is about company policies (stupid and great ones), and overall everything else, it is about inflight SAFETY and not for you to take selfies in your uniform only. If you fly in a company which *actually cares* about you, then you will not stop flying EVER. It is addictive. Period. I would love for young newcomers to stop believing that Emirates, Qatar and Etihad are the real deal and to actually start pursuing realistic companies which do not pursue you for the slightest thing like these do.
Supervisors have to be there for you and the flight performance, seniors are there for their team, and cabin crew are there for passengers safety mainly, not focus primarily in service.
Stop falling for the uniforms and the looks, find the real places that actually care about their people.

Found this video after watching Josh video on his recent Qatar flight experience. I am shocked to hear how they treated you! What an experience, I hope you have learned from this, got stronger from it and can find a better future! Every experience makes you stronger somehow. On my last year flight AMS to SIN on SQ, a younger Singaporean stewardess I was talking to and another steward about the airlines and staff experience during and after the pandemic, she told she was with Qatar and I think she got retrenched, but was now with SIA and was kind of training the younger steward. I am happy she is with SIA now, and I hope she is happy too, after hearing your experiences, it is such a toxic environment there............I wish you much Happiness in your future! Rememeber Happiness is an attitude (not something to be found in some place)........

I’m glad you are in a better place. It’s a job, but it’s not a job that will pamper you. They drain your energy and say you should’ve know what you were signing yourself up for. I did a VI, I was scared and worried more than excited. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do, but the yolo was empowering me. When I heard back I was not selected. I felt bummed, but happier. As long I know it was not meant to be. I know my VI was wonderful. I’ve never failed an interview before. It is best to be rejected before a real interview. I bet it is stressful and depressing. I already felt the emotions before not even being offered the job. My intuition was with me.
I’m sorry what you went through. I wish I can wipe your tears and give you a hug. You’re so sweet. You had to keep pushing yourself. I know you will remember this trauma, but know it was an experience to learn from. It may break you, but don’t let it ruin you and your life. Hang in there and time will heal. You are not alone. When you feel anxiety or trauma, say this, “I am not alone in this.” Others have made it and you will too. It is your story and life, they put you through so much, an unforgettable experience, the lack of support and empathy from your employer. Idk how your ex can cheat on you. Be strong. You’re beautiful and will find someone better. People who do such things, never get away. You should thank that person for taking your ex from you. The problem is in her hand now.
Don’t cry anymore. You speak wonderful. Don’t worry about grammars. English is my second language. As an introvert, I type better than I speak. You are strong.

This job should come to an end, we humans simply cannot do it. Airlines should suspend in-flight services or replace cabin crew with robots or vending machines "so they can buy something to eat." I left many years ago without regrets and my life improved a lot.

Hard to make a career especially in the begining because you don't make crap...all the seniors get the chances to make extra money because they are more senior.
Can't enjoy the travel benifits because you're always broke and on reserve.

I understand that this job is very physically demanding, due the irregular working hours and being constantly jetlaged. But it depends a lot of the individuality of each person as well. I know people who worked international flights fir 10 years and doesn't have serious health issues. Someone can be more sensitive and got sick after one year. Besides the health, it depends a lot, I believe, from which country anyone is and their previous experiences. I know people from Czech Republic for example, which are little spoiled, when it comes to job politics. I live in Greece and people here, after economic crisis, are not so demanding, because they are happy if they find a job. Any job. Working for those companies such as Qatar, Emirates or Etihad would sound like a dream. With their salary and other benefits. Or people ftom even poorer countries would be an absolute goal to work there and help maybe the hole family with this salaries. So, it's of course good that you are sharing your experience but I wouldn't want for potential new hires be discouraged not to try for themselves. They might have totally different experience.

But QR was different! From the day I stepped into the building for my training I knew it was different. Stressful would be an understatement 😢sadly cabin crew job is not meant to be this way! I’m glad I completed by bond before leaving because I felt I would never pay them a penny for breaking the bond. I applied for EK before QR but EK’s invitation came when I was already in Doha and I did NOT feel it’s worth my time leaving Doha to wait for the cooling period of 3 or 6 months (can’t remember now) before joining another middle eastern airline. But I guess everything happens for a reason may be for me to appreciate life and people more as this working condition is so unhealthy 😢😢😢I was the happiest when I tender my resignation and the day I left Doha 🙌🏼

I quit after 6 months of working there as a cabin crew year 2010 even if i was awarded as the best trainee for our batch. 😅😅😅 I was always sick when I was there, co-flight attendants were rude (an american crew bullied me infront of the passengers during my “first paid flight”. A Morrocan passenger shouted and swored at me just cuz I was getting his seat ready for landing (cuz he wouldn’t wake up so I helped him out instead!) And I cried while apologizing to him when I should have reprimanded him instead for breaching an aviation safety rule. So yah, it is hard to work as a cabin crew. Those were just few of my many reasons why I quit so soon. 😅

I am so sorry for the awful experience you had towards the end, as well as the trauma you endured during that time. I've been through something similar with a European low-cost carrier, and it was such a challenging experience that I ended up having a mental breakdown. Mental health in aviation is often not talked about, and many people feel scared to speak about their struggles, suffering in silence when they shouldn’t have to. I am now a medical student, and like you, I have fond memories of my time as cabin crew. I truly wish you all the best on your healing journey. Thank you for having the courage to share your experience; it’s an important step toward fostering understanding and support for others who might be going through something similar.

In response to WhiteHair Rules: Strong-minded people? Work smart and not hard? Thick skin? This is Qatar Airways she's talking about!! One can be the most perfect cabin crew in the world, and Qatar Airways will discover a way to find a fault!! There is a reason why most of Qatar Airways cabin crew don't last long there, and it has nothing to do with being weak, or not working "smart" enough, or being thin skinned!!! Qatar Airways has some of the most restrictive and punitive work rules in the world for their cabin crew!! They believe in using fear and intimidation to control their employees, and are notorious for fostering a reporting culture within the company!! Every move that their cabin crews make is monitored, even while on layovers!! When you say dedicating oneself to Qatar Airways, that is actually code for giving up every aspect of one's life and freedom in order to placate the desires and whims of the dictatorial management there!!!

I am a self funded premium traveller with 2000 flights and found most crew professional and understanding and over time as pax,we also get an understanding of the job and have seen many rude people at checkin and gates as well and it comes down to management.

BA is horrific too. 100% this is not a career. I joined for 3 years, Covid meant I got stuck for 5 before they unfairly dismissed me for sickness 😅. A month before I went back to do my Masters and was gonna quit anyway 😂. Tribunal will be fun.
You’re a worthless number, doing a robotic, repetitive job - your mind starts to fade as constant jet lag, sickness and depression. Constantly feel your life is on hold for the sake of the airline.
Easily 16-34 hour days, management looking for any excuse to fire you, inventing reasons. Living pay cheque to pay cheque to make rent, whilst airline shareholders doing nothing make billions off you.
Saw my partner once a month 😅. My mental and physical health was horrible at the end. Finally off to do my dream job! 🎉
In summary - if you’re gonna do it, plan 2 years, solid 2 years. Do not deviate. HAVE AN EXIT PLAN BEFORE YOU JOIN. Go see the world, watch your back, save any money you can. Then keep going month to month.
Absolutely no amount of money would ever make me go back.

There are a lot of cabin crew who already resigned from their dream job because they can't bear any longer the stress and pain, but there are a lot of innocent people who are dreaming of it and the cycle will be continually remain. Why are they forcing their crew to flight without enough rest? the employees should make a petition to get a resolution for the betterment of all, in that way, the company couldn't lose their employees and spend another money to find a new one, and then the employees would be good in health and happy as long as their basic salary is still intact🤔

Hmmm....interesting to see this. I had an extremely negative experience on a recent flight - between christmas and new year. Got bumped off the connecting flight at Hamad due Qatar overbooking the flight. I had a wedding to attend following day. Seems Qatar has a lot of work to do to get into a situation where the organisation is working well - with effective procedures and systems for problem resolution....in the middle management layers. I found the cabin crew to be good....and some of the planes to be great (though some quite not great as Josh mentions). But the lack of any willingness to consider options for resolving their overbooked flight - had me gobsmacked..as other airlines have simple effective procedures.

Any EU citizen can get help from another EU member embassy if their country doesn't have one in the country they are in. You can see why some Qatar Airways cabin crew are the way they are and why Josh Cahill is now banned for being honest in his review.

Hello from the Manila 🇵🇭 Just want to thank you for this vlog. I'm actually trying to apply for airlines here in our country. Unfortunately, due to my age and I lack of height which is 0.6CM, I guess I might not push through with it. Also, the salary and benefits here aren't that good for my wellbeing. I just resigned from a Events Company, was underpaid and had terrible body clock. Glad I chose my physical and mental health over anything else. Thank you for this again! Keep shining✨🙏

I would apply if I were you and if I got excepted, I would try. You can quit after 6 months, I beleive. But you will know you have tried.
