    My Specialita changed my ideas about Italian manufacturing--very solid, reliable unit. I used it daily for seven years before putting it in storage when I bought a Mahlkonig EK43. The Eureka is very well built, stylish as hell and quiet, a beautiful grinder. This new Libra looks like a nice choice. Thanks for a great look at the machine.

      I have an Alfa Forni wood fire pizza oven that I bought during Covid and I bought it because it was both designed and manufactured in Italy. It's beautiful and I chose a gorgeous Italian yellow powder coated finish. So many other products are designed in the States or in Europe but then the manufacturing takes place over in China. With all of the supply chain and shipping issues that were happening, getting it from Italy avoided all of that mess. Anyway, my Gaggia Classic Pro is made in Italy, my pizza oven is made in Italy, and once I purchase a Eureka I can say my grinder is also made in Italy! 😂

    Excellent review! I enjoyed watching you put it through its paces from start to finish. This was another grinder that was up for consideration when I was shopping around. There are a lot of grinders in the market, but this one has a great counter space footprint (If a little tall!). I don't think some people take grind retention into consideration, and that you can be putting grinds from the last machines use into your current cup. A 0.1g retention is very very good! Also as an aside, i've taken to stiring my espresso with a demitass spoon, and I couldn't believe how much it evened out the flavor profile of my espresso shots. You should give it a try if you haven't already!

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  Год назад +1

      Hi there! Thanks for your feedback. What I tested was how accurate the integrated Libra scale is, and it is very good at just a 0.1g deviation. But that doesn't indicate the retention. I am guessing this will have similar retention to the Specialita, but I have to test that first. Cheers!

    Zusätzlich habe ich mir anstelle des Standardbehälters für Kaffeebohnen einen „Coffee Grinder Single Dose Funnel for Eureka Mignon Grinder 2 in 1 Function Coffee Grinder Accessories Funnel Hand Pressure Silicone Bellows for Cleaning and Collecting Coffee Grounds“ dazu gekauft.

    What I would be very interested would be a Eureka Libra with either the new Oro burrs and motor combo
    Or go with the standard 64mm burrs, so you can play with ssp burrs. The automatic scale is such a quality of life feature, especially when you don't change between beans all the time and don't single dose

  • @chrismccannIRL

    Thanks for review. Is 4 week old from roasted coffee not a little bit old? My coffee comes fresh less than a week after roasting and within 3 weeks there’s a notable difference in the oils in the beans when grinding. For the grinder I’m really struggling to choose one to match to my new ECM Mechanika VI heritage and I’m between this Libra, the Oro or XL (to get 65mm burrs) or the Malhkonig X54. Would love yours (anybody’s view). Thanks

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  9 месяцев назад +1

      For sure get a Eureka over the X54. It is made in Italy, and way more robust. Also smaller footprint. I'd go with the Libra, to help with workflow.
      As for beans, I find 4 week old beans just fine. Above 8 weeks it gets quite difficult to get any crema, and aromatics go missing.

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner Tom do you know whether the Eureka funnel also is available to fit the 54mm Breville Barista Pro although I am actually using the 54mm Normcore bottomless portafilter. Also, I almost purchased the Rancilio Stile but I think they have made it very difficult to acess the burrs for periodic cleaning etc which if true, is a ridiculous design decision which I would not buy into. So now I'm back to comparing Specialita vs Magnifico vs Libra and maybe the Turbo (?) if It's available in Australia. Cheers.

    They do not provide the dosing funnel any more and it is a real problem, because when you grind, a lot of coffee goes out of the portafilter basket. It is a real design problem, solved by the funnel - they should include it

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  11 месяцев назад

      The thing is, there are different sizes to the portafilters...you need to choose between 54mm and 58mm.

    • @user-dh8bi2gn3n
      @user-dh8bi2gn3n 11 месяцев назад

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner I am pretty sure this is not the problem. They are saving small money and damaging their good brand. It is definitely a design problem if you can't grind more than a few grams of coffee without spreading it outside of the basket.

    • @jarequemetabolski

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  10 месяцев назад +1

      I wouldn't call it a design flaw. Grinders with integrated scales are sensitive and require correct operation.
