A current fan theory about Yoda’s original scenes in this movie is that he was Trolling against Luke’s patience. That’s not a bad comprehension of it.
My theory is one I came up with well before that came one out:
Yoda was senile with dementia and was acting childlike due to it.🤷🏻‍♂️

Those "things" are called Imperial TIE fighters. They're the standard, extremely cheap (like the don't have life support. That's why the pilots are in full suits) and mass produced.
The one Vader flew is called the TIE Advanced and it was experimental and especially made for Vader.
The "Egg Shell" is the meditation chamber for Vader. It's where he can take his suite off and sometimes eat solid food.

Right, they're called that (TIE) because A) they utilize Twin Ion Engines for propulsion, powered by the solar collector 'wings,' and B) They're shaped like bow-ties. Edit: When we were kids, my sister and I would sneak some vinyl 45s out of my mom's record collection, and suff our ears through the center holes to pretend our heads were TIEs, zooming around the house.

    • @AnimusZen
      @AnimusZen 3 года назад +6

@@AwesomeUSMovies To add more, "TIE" stands for Twin Ion Engine, and Vader's TIE was the only one that included a Hyper-Drive. The regular TIE-Fighters were short range fighters, deployed from Star Destroyers (the wedge shaped aircraft carriers...).

    • @Greybeardmedic
      @Greybeardmedic 3 года назад +4

The Real story is that they needed Darth Vader's tie fighter to look different than the other Tie fighters for the first film. Otherwise we wouldn't know who was who. Simple TIE fighters have straight vertical wings, and the Advanced TIE fighter looks hexagonal.

    • @odemusvonkilhausen
      @odemusvonkilhausen 2 года назад

The TIE fighters with the angled wings are TIE Interceptors. They're faster and have more firepower than regular TIE's.

I'm 66 and saw episode 4 in the theaters and you pretty much saw it just as we did. There were only a few characters like a dinosaur thing that a stormtrooper rode that were added and it's possible they had a way to sharpen all of the frames. But it blew our minds back then how they used green screen for the first time pretty much. What was so effective though was the fast-paced storytelling and quick changes to new incredible sets. It's even more incredible of course in episode 5...which is my favorite movie of all time. You seem to indeed have very little knowledge about them that you picked up so it's a treat to see your reaction. I'm always concerned that somebody is going to react with a ho-hum, but so far none of the reactors I have watched have felt that way.

So great to see you so ingested into every scene and so cheerful about this experience 😊
Plus, it's really rare that someone didn't get the huge plot twist with Vader and Luke spoiled! That's often the one thing people know about these films.
If you are that much into the ships and all the tech I recommend the Illustrated Encyclopedias, in which the made up technical explanations for all the technological gadgets, weapons, robots and so on are explained. There are also books with houses or spaceships drawn cut open (I don't know hoe thats called in the English language), so you get to look inside and little arrows will hint at things and explain everything. Really nerdy and really satisfying 😁
Those aren't even too expenaive, considering all the big fotos im there.

Lightsabers are made by the Jedi themselves -- in training, they are taught how to build one by getting a hold of a kyber crystal which powers the saber. Since they are made by the individual Jedis themselves they are highly customized according to the Jedis' culture and preferences. The kyber crystals are mined on certain planets. The Death Star is actually powered by a giant kyber crystal.

CGI (computer generated image) did exist in the 70s, but it was in it's absolute infancy. It wasn't implemented in movies until Westworld (1973) if I remember right. Even then, it was a very minor part of the movie. CGI got it's big break with TRON in 1982, and it's first mainstream hit in 1991 with Terminator 2. Jurassic park and Toy Story would endure it was here to stay, for better and worse.

No We're Not Catholic, Mum had difficulties with Medication and Dad Refused to do anything. I was Mum's Little Surprise Package, She was 44 when I was born. The Twins one of My Sisters and Her Twin Brother who are 16 years older than Me both moved up as well. My Big Sister introduced Me to these movies She Drools Over Mark Hamil (Luke). Personally Billy Dee Williams (Lando) is My Eye Candy, well Him and Hayden Christensen (Anakin) from Episode II & III. New subscriber here, happy to have found your channel.
I know I'm late to the party and many of these movies may have already been recommended but I figure I'll give it a shot...
    For sci-fi -
    The Last Starfighter
This is such a fun movie! From 1984, this was the first movie to use CGI for almost all the special effects. They look primitive now but that's part of the charm of the film in my opinion and they get the job done in helping tell the story. A great story by the way.
    Fantasy -
Willow - story by George Lucas and directed by Rob Howard, a must see fantasy film.
The Never Ending Story - Great family film for all ages.
The Princess Bride - Extremely funny fairy tale film.
    Comedy:
    Spaceballs

Ghostbusters - great movie for October!
    Caddyshack
    Three Amigos
    Uncle Buck
    Splash
    Big
    Beverly Hills Cop
    Brewster's Millions
    Superhero:
Superman (1978) This is the film that began the modern era of super hero movies and it still holds up today as a superhero film the was Star Wars holds up as Sci-fi! It's one of the most inspirational movies you'll ever see.

If you ask what's this thing or that thing about these movies, for example asking what the tie fighter is. There is somebody that can not only tell you what it is, they can tell you how it's engine works, what weapons it has, it's power source, what is made of, and even who was piloting it. There is a story behind everything in these movies. Knowing this, when the prequels came out I knew that no matter how awesome they were, there were going to be nerds foaming at the mouth about how badly they messed up the tiniest of details. It's crazy. But that's a testimony to how special these movies are. They are imagination fuel.

Those tiny ships that were chasing the Millennium Falcon through the asteroid field are called TIE (Twin Ion Engine) Fighters. These fighters were fast and highly maneuverable as they didn't include a shield, hyperdrive, or life support. Most other fighters have these three components. Darth Vader's TIE is a TIE Advanced. They have the three components the other TIEs don't. In the movies, only Vader had a TIE Advanced. In the animated TV series "Rebels", the TIE Advanced were granted to Inquisitors; Dark Side adepts. In this movie they introduced TIE Bombers they have curved wings like Vader's TIE.
The stuffed "Baby Yoda" toys aren't actually Yoda. In the Disney+ series "The Mandalorian" a new character was introduced. Since the character is much younger than Yoda was (the character is about 50 years old) and a member of Yoda's species, the character was referred to as "Baby Yoda". The character's name wasn't introduced until the middle of the second season.
At the time of A New Hope, the Emperor is 84 and the Galactic Empire had only been around for 19 years. The senate, mentioned in A New Hope was the last remnants of the Galactic Republic which was the previous government before the Emperor gained power. The story of how the Galactic Republic fell, how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader, and the events known as the "great Jedi purge" are shown in Episodes 1 thru 3.
The ship in the upper left is a fighter called a B-Wing. The furry creatures at the bottom are called Ewoks.

The Empire's fighter craft are called T.I.E. Fighters (pronounced like the neck wear that is traditionally worn with a suit). There are just different variations of them (like the flat side panels, the side panels that sort of curve like Vader's craft, some even have two round cockpits in the middle instead of one). But to the best of my knowledge, they are all called "T.I.E. FIghters".

There actually was CGI in A New Hope before the re-release in the late 90s. The scene is when General Dodonna is briefing the rebel pilots on the Death Star's weakness. The animated schematic used in that briefing was actually generated by university students using computers meant for Jet Propulsion Labs. Since that was the level of CGI in those days one could see why they weren't used for movies. There's speculation that Lucas could already see the potential.

The H-shaped fighters are called TIE Fighters, and are the standard aerial pawns for the Empire. "TIE" stands for Twin Ion Engine. TIEs also come in several other models that are more task-specific, such as TIE Bombers (seen bombing the asteroids) and TIE Interceptors, which are much faster and more maneuverable than Fighters, but have weaker shields. The Empire employs TIEs because they are cheap to produce. They have limited armaments and standard TIEs have virtually no shields, so their strength is in numbers.
Dogfighting one-on-one against a more capable fighter like an X-Wing or A-Wing is borderline suicidal.

If you haven't seen the show. I highly recommend you react to Babylon 5.
It introduced long form storytelling to television. Five seasons, each being the equivalent of a chapter or book, in a book or series of books.
It was also the first live action show, to use computer graphics exclusively for space scenes.
It also incorporates real physics in said scenes and weapons.
Example is the side arms, are called PPG (particle projection guns) , excited particles are pushed out using electro magnetic fields and create plasma. Imparting kinetic, heat, and electrical energy to the target.
However, due to it's more dispersed nature, is less likely to travel through a target or wall.
Kind of important on a space station or ship.

I remember at the time there was a lot of controversy surrounding the inclusion of minorities trying to get a part in these films. Lando played by Billy Dee Williams was a popular black actor who landed the role. But what really created a storm was the voice of Darth Vadar. It was a black actor James Earl Jones, but when Luke saw Vadar take off the mask, it certainly wasn't James Earl Jones. They couldn't handle Luke having a black father. It was a huge situation and talked about even to this day. Thanks for the reaction.

She didn't need to go into an unrealistic tangent explaining it for our benefit like so many other shows would.

I think Obviously get you pointed to Mel Brooks and Monty Python for the comedy films "Blazing Saddles", "Space-balls", "Young Frankenstein", "Monty Python's Quest For The Holy Grail", and "Life of Brian". For your Adventure films you cant do much better than "Raiders of The Lost Arc", "The Road Warrior" or "Furry Road". Sci-Fi I would point you at the Alien franchise but you haven't mentioned your opinion on horror but if you can stand a little scares "Alien" and its sequel "Aliens" are some great Sci-Fi. Sans scares Id point you to "Robocop", "Dredd" and "Minority Report" are favorites. Though I don't see many film reactors cover FIlm Noir aside from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" or "Fight Club", some of my favorites that I don't see many reviews for are "China Town", "The Maltese Falcon", "Sunset Boulevard", "The Game", "Seven", "Casablanca", and the one I'd like to see more people watch most of all, Alfred Hitchcock's underappreciated "Rope".

      1. I've seen Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail. The whole it's just a scratch thing came up WAY to much in life and a friend pointed me that direction. I haven't heard of the others (What the hell is Space Balls????) Do I even want to know?
      2. I am NOT a horror fan! My sister forced me to watch Nightmare on Elms Street when I was a kid and I had nightmares' for literally months. However, I've also seen IT(old one) because I'd already read the book and while scary aspects it wasn't scary.
      3. There are several movies on your list I'm interested in (I think) just based off the titles. Space Balls (???), The Game (What game), Robocop (Sounds Cool).
      Appreciate all the suggestions, thanks.

@@AwesomeUSMovies 1. Space Balls is a much loved parody of Scifi movies, particularly Star Wars. Despite its names suggestion Space Balls is rather tame and not particularly vulgar X)

      3. The Game stars Micheal Douglas as the man who has everything whose brother enrolls him in a "Game" for his birthday. Douglas then finds himself in one situation after another leaving him to wonder what is reality and what is a part of "The Game". It'd fit snugly in the thriller category of films with a fabulous twist endind.
Robocop stars Peter Weller as Police Officer Alex Murphy who must bring his own murderers to justice when he is resurrected as Robocop! Part man, Part Machine, All Cop!! (The film's actual tag line) The gun violence gets a bit gory if your not used to that sort of thing but an all around enjoyable movie X)
