This film was indeed super epic. It was so awesome seeing it in theaters back in 2012 - it was completely unlike anything else that had come out before. Older superhero films were always just one hero's origin story, and then they would make 2 or 3 sequels until they got stupid and started losing money and then they would quit. But never did anyone attempt what Marvel did and start out each hero on a separate journey, build up toward a big team-up event film where they all came together. But the stakes get bigger and bigger for Avengers 2, 3, 4 (Age of Ultron, Infinity War, and Endgame), the MCU gets bigger and bigger, I honestly don't know how Kevin Feige (president of Marvel studios) has managed to pull it off and remain so consistent with quality the whole time just getting better and better as they go along. Now of course all the rest of Hollywood is trying (usually failing) to copy the Marvel formula.
Hulk is still a giant green rage monster... when Bruce gets angry when doesn't mean to he loses control and just goes on an indiscriminate rampage. But if he tries to induce the transformation he can sort of aim it, at least. He's working on it, and Bruce's arc trying to control and come to terms with the monster living inside of him will continue on for years...
and, yes, pretty much everything will come back around in future MCU movies.. the Battle of New York is a major event and plot point that will be referenced time and again. As will THANOS, the giant purple alien who you saw flashes of briefly in this, who was giving orders to the Chitauri (so, indirectly, also ordering the attack on Earth, and directing the actions of Loki)... he's going to be showing up here and there, at first mostly behind the scenes, pulling the strings, until much later. But it should all become clearer in time what his overall plan is. For now just remember that he was behind the attack on New York, he gave the scepter to the Chitauri to give to Loki, and that was mostly with the aim of defeating the Avengers, subjugating Earth, and obtaining the Tesseract.
Next up after Avengers is Iron Man 3. And then Thor (2) the Dark World... in my own humble opinion these are two of the worst films in the entire MCU, and a lot of people would agree. They're not terrible but they're not up to the same high standards as the rest of the MCU films in terms of story, villains, etc. They went through a little bit of a lull after the first Avengers movie. Buuutt.... it picks up again with Captain America the Winter Soldier which is awesome... and then pretty much all of Phase 3 is incredible.
(The MCU story is often divided up into phases. Phase 1 was all of the movies you have already seen, starting with Iron Man and ending with The Avengers. Phase 2 is all of the films up through Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man (honestly not sure why Ant-Man is not considered part of Phase 3). And then Phase 3 starts with Captain America: Civil War and concludes with Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Each phase gets more and more expansive, we're currently in Phase 4 which so far has had 4 theatrical films in addition to 5 different limited series that were released on the Disney + streaming service)
Anyway, enjoy the ride James. You're an Avenger now.

The Shawarma stinger was shot after production wrapped, and Chris Evans had grown a beard, which is why Cap is sort of covering his face and not eating. In universe, presumably, he's just brooding over all the destruction wrought in Manhattan. More than most superhero franchises, the MCU does show some kind of real concern for things like mass destruction and civilian casualties.

This was the biggest thing to happen in comic book movies when it came out. We never thought we would see a superhero team-up movie like this. It feels so small compared to what we have now in the MCU, but it's still great.

    • @srae1971
      @srae1971 Год назад

It feels "small" now, I guess, but I still think it's the best movie the MCU has put out. My favorite, anyway. MCU is such a behemoth now and with all the movies and tv shows and all it's too much work to try to keep up, especially when I'm not liking a lot of it very much lately. Aside from a couple of things I've been losing interest pretty fast, which is a shame.

I find it refreshing that you don’t have a lot of spoilers and background information on the movies you watch.
Especially the marvel movies. It’s nice to see someone react from my blank slate. If anybody ever makes fun of you for not being able to pair up the actor with the character, or mispronouncing the name, take that as a badge of honor that you’ve been able to do something more important with your time.

This made my week. The guy with the bow is known as "Hawkeye" Clint Barton the man with the bow also appeared in Thor aiming his bow at Thor when he went to pick up his hammer. He doesn't have any superpowers or anything just a Shield agent with a bow. The aliens who attacked New York City are called the Chitauri. Some info below from three different universes. Ultimate universe which was a modern reimagine of the classic Marvel comic's and characters from the 1960s onwards bringing them into the 2000s starting with the great Ultimate Spider-Man run bringing Peter Parker from the 1960s into the year 2000. Prime Marvel Universe this being the main Marvel comic universe which has never been rebooted since it began with Fantastic Four #1 in Nov. 1961, And finally Marvel Cinematic Universe the movies starting with iron Man pretty much uses idea's from both the main comic universe and the Ultimate universe.
    Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610) Chitauri
The Chitauri are an interesting species first appearing in The Ultimates #8 in November 2002 they’ve only been around for 19 years. The Chitauri are a race of shapeshifting aliens who have attempted to conquer the Earth, most notably during World War II and again in the early 21st century. Behind the scenes they were created to replace the Skrull who were owned by Fox so Marvel didn't have the rights coming up with Chitauri as a replacement.
Prime Marvel Universe (Earth-616 the main comic universe) Chitauri
The Chitauri also exist in the Prime Marvel Universe (Earth-616) Most of them are simple-minded dogged creatures, like insects, to the point of following a queen. This makes the Chitauri more distinct species from the Skrulls, unlike their Earth-1610 counterpart who were also a race of shapeshifting aliens just like the Skrulls.
Marvel Cinematic Universe (Movie universe Earth-199999) Chitauri
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Chitauri were an alien race led by SOMEONE taking elements from both the Chitauri of the Ultimate Universe and Prime Universe. This is the MCU summed up it pretty much takes the best elements from both the Ultimate Universe and Prime Universe.
The Avengers were known as "Earth's Mightiest Heroes", original founding members of the Avengers in the main Earth-616 comic's The Avengers #1 (September 1963) were Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man, The Wasp, and The Hulk. Iron Man was inspired by the action of Steve Rogers when creating this team of hero's. In the comic's the Avengers were created to counter Loki influenced the monstrous Hulk to destroy a railway line imagine this is where the movie got the idea of using Loki from.
The Avengers in the comic's were also used as a way to introduce new hero characters Marvel would introduce a new member of the Avengers and if fans liked that character Marvel would give the character their own comic book run. In the comic's there has been a bunch of Avenger members if you were a hero in the Marvel universe it's very likely that they you would be apart of the Avengers even just for a few comic Issues.
Glad you enjoyed this film back in 2012 this was a dream for alot of people to see these hero's finally team up on the big screen drawing in both comic fans and the more mainstream audience making it a massive hit.

    • @CaptainAmercia
      @CaptainAmercia 2 года назад +1

@@AwesomeUSMovies Without saying too much (no movie spoilers) In the Comic's both Ant-Man (Hank Pym) and Wasp (Janet Van Dyne) play a big part in the Avenger both being founding members of the Avengers within the Earth-616 comic. In the Ultimate universe the Avengers were known as the Ultimates instead (This universe has a lot of changes from the main universe) but both Hank and Janet were founding members again in this universe.
The movie on the other hand didn't feature these two hero's for reasons I'm not really sure on maybe introducing two new characters would be too much in a movie already filled with characters. If they created a film about Antman and the Wasp before the Avengers they could've included them in the Avengers movie no problem but i don't mind the MCU going it's own way instead there's alot of other examples in the later movies such as the amazing Civil War.
But like you mentioned there's so many MCU movies ahead so who knows who will show up in the future films.

I was specifically waiting for your reaction to the Hulk unexpectedly punching Thor and Hulk smashing Loki. Hulk has a mind of a child so that Thor punch was him getting back at Thor for the unfinished fight on the heli-carrier. This Thor-Hulk-Loki dynamic comes into play later in the other movies.
In full display is Captain America's leadership skills directing everyone as a team and Black Widow's interrogation skills. Hawkeye (one with the arrow) is shown as Black Widow's equal in hand-to-hand combat and is a great shot (with arrows, guns, darts, even golf).

Funny little story. I'll never forget the day this movie was released on bluray. September 26, 2012. My youngest son was born that day. I remember cause while his mom had to stay overnight at the hospital, I had to take my other two kids home. We stopped at Walmart, saw Avengers on the shelf and decided spur of the moment to buy it. My 5 year old watched it with me that night (ok, maybe a little young, I'll admit) and was immediately mesmerized. She's been a Marvel fanatic ever since. 7 years later, she sat in the theater with me through the 3 hour running time of Avengers 4, kind of the culmination of every MCU movie up to that point, and was never bored, even with her ADHD!
Awesome reaction and look forward to more!

So glad that your enjoying the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are some other Marvel movies outside of the MCU which are set in their own separate universes disconnected from the MCU. This was because of real world licencing issues and companies like Sony and Fox owing the movie rights to certain characters making it nearly impossible for characters owned by Sony and Fox to appear in the MCU one example being the X-MEN. Many of these movies were also released before the MCU with the Marvel Cinematic Universe starting with Iron Man in 2008 so in many ways it made since that Marvel studios wouldn't count these films as canonical within this new universe. Below are a few great Marvel films featuring Marvel characters but not apart of the MCU of movies.
Recommend - Movies i recommend but don't have any connection to the MCU in any way or form.
Need To Watch - Movies which may have some connections in the future MCU as of writing this comment.

    Blade Trilogy - Recommend (1998 to 2004)
    Blade
    Blade 2
    Blade: Trinity
Amazing films (more so the first two) much mature than the MCU. Blade is also credited as helping to kick off the ambitious Superhero action movie series. without Blade we may not have the MCU today as this film really showed that comic book movies could translate well to movies in a time when Marvel and DC were still pretty niche compared to today where superhero's have become apart of the mainstream culture. Blade 2 personal favourite Blade movie even though Blade 1 is still great the sequel is pretty much everything you want in a movie sequel.
Third film is not my favourite movie but to end the series you really need to see how it ends.
    The Punisher - Recommend (2004)
Really love this film the Punisher is one of my favourite anti-hero's with Thomas Jane playing an amazing rendition of the Punisher. Thomas Jane Also voiced the Punisher in the great Punisher (2006) Video game which isnt connected to the movie he just happens to voice the character in the game. Game also features some small cameos of Iron Man, Black Widow, and Daredevil really giving it that Marvel universe feel something all the movies I've mentioned don't have each disconnected from each other.
    X-Men Movies - Need to Watch (2000 - 2019)
    X-Men
    X2: X-Men United
    X-Men: The Last Stand
    X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Spin Off)
    X-Men: First Class (Soft Reboot)
    The Wolverine (Spin Off)
X-Men: Days of Future Past (Follows the First Class Soft Reboot)
    Deadpool (Spin Off)
X-Men: Apocalypse (Follows First Class Soft Reboot)
    Logan (Spin Off)
    Deadpool 2 (Spin Off)
Dark Phoenix (Follows First Class Soft Reboot)
X-MEN movies are great (Most are great) like Blade this opened the doors once again to making Superhero movies more mainstream introducing mostly non comic book fans to the X-MEN for the first time becoming a massive box office hit. The X-MEN are also a very interesting group i personally prefer them to the Avengers but love both the X-MEN to stand for something more relatable and common. X2 is amazing it's a lot of peoples a great sequel to an already great first film. X3 The Last Stand is a little mixed people unaware of the Dark Phoenix storyline enjoy the movie while people who have read the comic's or have watched the 1990s animated series tend to dislike this movie. There's far too much to go into so I'll live it at this Days of Future Past is my favourite X-Men movie and Logan is my favourite stand alone film set in the X-Men Fox universe.
Spider-Man Sam Rami Trilogy - Need to Watch (2002 to 2007)
    Spider-Man 1
    Spider-Man 2
    Spider-Man 3
This was my introduction to Marvel movies as a 1999 child i grew up with Sam Rami's Spider-Man trilogy so this is a very special movie to a lot of Spider-Man and Marvel fans. Spider-Man is regarded as the film to really start this massive wave of Superhero movies of the 2000s earning $825 Million the biggest opening weekend of all time up to that point. Spider-Man 2 is regarded as alot of peoples favourite Spider-Man film also my personal favourite Spider-Man film as well. There was also a great PS2 Spider-Man 2 with amazing Web Swinging. Spider-Man 3 is fun as well even if it's alot more mixed. Studio interference they wanted to add certain character the director didn't want which lead to Spider-Man coming out still making alot of money but it was the end for this Spider-Man and Sony decided to scrape Spider-Man 4 and rebooted the franchise with The Amazing Spider-Man.
The Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb Reboot - Need to Watch (2012-2014)
    The Amazing Spider-Man 1
    The Amazing Spider-Man 2
I do prefer the Sam Rami Spider-Man Trilogy both i do think that the Amazing Spider-Man 1 is a fun movie little underdeveloped in some areas but i think you'll enjoy it. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on the other hand was a lot more mixed i myself didn't enjoy it but who knows maybe you'll like it. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) was originally envisioned as the beginning of a shared fictional universe that would include films based on Venom and the Sinister Six, but a disappointing box office meant that all subsequent instalments were cancelled.
And that's pretty much it with the films i recommend. if there's only a few you can watch i would recommend the Spider-Man films easily could fit in between your MCU reactions and plus there's only three of them compared to the 12 X-Men Fox universe movies which would take a while to watch all of them. There's alot going on in the MCU at the moment and reasons why these other movies outside of the MCU may be important in the future. Without any spoilers but the Multiverse is a big topic in the MCU so yeah who knows what could happen. Hope this helped with deciding on other Marvel movies to watch.

A lot of people doesn’t get why Stark didn’t let go of the missile, so if you didn’t get why he didn’t it is because it’s a guided missile. The missile had a GPS based homing system, which would have tried to steer the missile towards the heart of New York all the time, so Stark needed to redirect the missile until he left the Earth through the portal after which the GPS guidance and tracking system became ineffective, just like his suit and that’s why he lost Jarvis too.

The shwarma line was improvised by Robert Downey Jr. It led to the cut scene being added at the end of the movie and was filmed well after the movie was made. Chris Evans was growing a beard at the time for a different role so thats why he is leaning down and not doing much. The rest of the cast are likewise not very animated.
James, you now take your kids to a shwarma joint in Iowa (if one exists) and treat them to superhero food!

Things only get crazier & more grand/epic from here on out! 😁👍 Lots of cool details in the MCU too whether it's a simple cross-reference name drop or a little Easter egg moment (there are plenty haha) not to mention some of the genius comedic writing with the little in-jokes & call-backs & such. If you are interested in Agent Coulson read below...
There is more Agent Coulson content but it does involve watching a 7 season TV show (Agents of Shield), which is currently still debated about on whether it is MCU canon or not. It's a great show, but I would not blame you at all for skipping out on it, especially at this stage anyway.
