Just did this exact build and I'm so happy with it, excellent guide! Thank you :) I did 2 of the large pegboards with the 120" + 40" LIFX extension and it fit perfectly
Looks wonderful! my nearest IKEA is about 1000kms or 683 miles away and they have low stock on Skadis and its accessories, I hope to try and create something similar soon :) thanks for the inspiration
Would you also be able to do this strategy with the glass cabinet pegboards? My idea was to put 4 regular pegboards of 30”x22” across a wall and put 4 cabinets directly above the pegboards. I just didn’t know if the cabinets were made different preventing you dfrom applying the same technique as you did on these pegboards with the defuser.
Yes, it should work on the Uppspel cabinets. Infact you do not need the aluminum diffusers behind. Have a look at this picture. www.ikea.com/ae/en/p/uppspel-glass-door-cabinet-dark-grey-90507636/ All the best.
@@TechieSnake thank you for your reply and for the research you did for me. One last question, if I was to have 4 of them side by side do you know the best way I could use the Lifx strips to light all of them up or do you think I would have to use 4 different light bundles? Sorry if I didn’t explain that the best way haha
Yes I used hacksaw but I did that in the shop itself and they helped me. A bit time consuming to cut. I have an electric jigsaw now which is much easier now. I used Aluminum channel diffusers from a local hardware shop.
Apologies for delay in response. I got diffusers from a local electrical shop. Hence no link. Below is Amazon UAE link which looks similar to mine. Great VID.. thanks for the tutorial.. Question?? Wouldn't not using the diffusers just intensify the overall brightness? Is there a downside I am missing? Was thinking of doing this with just some furring strips and RGBIC GoVee strips. Loking for some heads up if this is an overly simplified approach that will not yield the desired results????
I would like to add these pegboards in a corner section of my wall so it will be mounted on 2 walls instead. (30x22/14.25x22 on one side and 22x22 on the other) Is that something that's possible to do with these Ikea pegboards and led strips?
@@Rene-kg7pf looking up the dimensions on the Ikea Australia website, there's 36x56cm, 56x56cm, and 76x56cm. I'm guessing he's using a 76x56cm in the middle flanked by two 36x56cm on both sides. That's a total perimeter of 408cm. Now since the light strip is inset inside, 4 meters sounds about right.
I mean yeah it looks kinda cool , but doesn’t it completely obscure your vision of what you’re reaching for on the pegboard !? I mean all the light to see what you’re doing is facing forward!
@@Alex-hw3sg not really. I don’t keep the brightness full. And you get that slight illumination through the holes. It looks dope….i have a mini setup and will post a pic on my website soon
Love the shout-out to your dad. Just lost mine, and he was also the King of DIY at our house growing up. Thank you for the tutorial!
Thanks 🙏🏼. I wish you all the best and strength in life.

Im stealing this idea. Thank u. Finally know what to do with all the alu rgb channels i have laying around.

You can also look at the black Uppspel pegboards. They are same but more gaming looks. I have changed to those now
This looks awesome! 🔥
I can’t wait to get my pegboard and set it up like this. Thank you for the idea and looking forward to more content from you!!

Hi can you list what led channels you used ? And I’m guessing you used a hack saw?

I used Aluminum channel diffusers from a local hardware shop.
Great job! Where are the diffusers from? Don't see them in your materials list.

What's causing the light leak in the corners where the boards meet? Gaps in the channels? Or gap in the pegboards?
Gaps in the channels. Can avoid by getting exact length channels.

Do you mean stick behind the pegboard directly ? Or you mean without diffuser covering?
@@TechieSnake I just used spacers behind the mirror frame. No diffusers
@@johnq6123 that’s fine too as long as you like it. I like diffusers as they distribute the lighting more evenly.
@@TechieSnake - I didn't see a link for the diffuser.
What did you use to mount the peg board?
I used the same fixtures that come with the ikea pegboard
Nice 🎉

You could do it. Only you need to be careful at the corners. The gap behind the boards should be enough
Would have been much easier if you had used Twinkly Dots, you would not have had the light bleed at the corners.

if you want the led strips to highlight the Pegboard, then I am not sure the diffuser is the best solution.
You can remove the cover of the diffuser but I like the diffuser as LIFX strips are super bright already
There is a lot of light leaking in the corners and joints which ruins total look.
You could seal it by some tape. It’s possible. Just need to close the gaps between the raceways and wall.
No way 3 skadis is 4 metres when one is max 79 cm
4 meters is the perimeter
@@TechieSnake ikea make the big ones 79 cm! So when u use 1 x 79 cm and 2 x 52 cm then that cannot be 4 metres just admit it

That’s right. Thanks for the clarification
It's too overt tbh. I prefer a lampshade and a fake plant.
