- The IKEA Skådis Pegboard System has been installed in the craft room, so I've got wall storage AND a RUclips filming backdrop now. My husband did the hard work on his day off, so we are showing the entire process of putting up the pegboards and sharing knowledge we learned that hopefully will be helpful to you.
I bought 4 of the 30" x 22" pegboards in white, plus a lot of random Skådis accessories. It must be very popular as IKEA was out of stock on quite a few extras, so I've placed an online order for more. So far I've spent about $122.

A storage solution for the entire home
You can combine SKÅDIS storage series any way you like. And if you change your mind, it’s easy to change the accessories and create a new solution. Choose if you want to attach it to a desktop, to a shelf or hang it on the wall.
Supplies we recommend for this project:
Round head screws (make sure the head is large enough for the screw hole)
Drywall anchors
Screwdriver / power drill
Bubble level
Measuring tape

I got go to the store to buy screws
Note to anyone thinking of buying this: You DO need to buy additional screws and anchors (two of each) that are big enough to hold the mount! I was looking for videos because I thought I missed something, but nope they just weren't included.

Crazy that the drywall screws aren't included with this. It's not even listed in the needed tools in the Ikea instructions.
I was confused about this as well.
I'm having a meltdown over here about these drywall screws. Bought some only to find out the screws where too small to fit the rail so now I have to go back to the store again
IKEA isn't an American company. We don't do drywall here.
Agreed! Did my head in...just put some screws in please. We don't want to buy an IKEA box of screws for 9 quid.
The system is also designed to go on dressers/cabinets. I think it makes sense that screws are separate.

Thank you so much for making and posting this video! I bought several of these pegboards at IKEA and the instructions were so dreadful that I was utterly lost. You and your husband to the rescue, and I’m now confidently putting them up!
Great video. No hacks but I appreciate James showing me how to hang the pegboard. Nothing IKEA sells has good instructions and thanks to people like you, it's great!
I took a small trip to IKEA and spent about $60,000 and I only went in for a packet of shelf brackets, a spare shelf, some tea lights and a pint of milk.
That is one helluva haul!
@@SewingReport It was a joke but I have seen people go in for a few items and then gone and spend several hundred dollars / pounds (I'm from the UK actually). I have some of their furniture but if I move I won't bother taking it with me as it doesn't disassemble that well. Great use of the peg board though. Best of luck with your future projects.
I can’t tell you how helpful this video is. We bought two of these today. And the instructions, well you can’t really call them instructions weren’t very clear. So, kudos for this.

Thank you for this. I’ve used the Skadis pegboards for awhile now, but I had them attached to my table. I’m now in a different house and want to mount them on the wall. I kept all of the hardware, so now I’m about to convince my hubby to put them up for me.
I am absolutely not handy but did pick up this pegboard system. I wish the package let you know it didn't come with the screws to wallmount it! None of the screws we have are large enough, what size would you recommend? Honestly haven't ever bought screws, not sure what to look for - we just have amassed a collection from furniture building kits and sweeping the garage when we moved in.
Your craft room looks so fun now. I wish i saw this video before i had the skadis. I had lots of problems with the ikea directions. But this video makes it clear.

Very nice! I didn't want to buy this pegboard because looking at the screws on the outside I thought that it would leave HUGE holes in my wall. Now that I see it isn't going to leave HUGE holes in my wall. I am going to Ikea to buy one tomorrow. Yes, I only have wall space for 1. But, that is better than none. Right!?! Great job both of you.

Getting ready to install a few of these in my art studio (converted formal dining room). I am thinking about installing the smallest sized one on the back of my white Ikea flat storage drawers...it's the exact same width!

My sister and I specifically went to Ikea in Toronto to shop this line and there was nothing left. Just the actual boards but no pegs or other accessories.

I have some pegboard for a long time. We found them in a dumpster. Just don't have the craftroom.
I hadn't the chance of a craft room for years and my sewing, spinning, lacemaking, weaving.... was scattered all around the house and I just can't find anything I know I have. Sadly, my husband passed away last year. He was very disabled and had the other bedroom. Now I have this room to be a craft room but I have plans but no money so it is a very slow process. If only for my scissors a pegboard would be invaluable.
I really want some of these for my planned sewing room. The problem is that I live in a lovely park home and the walls aren't very thick. Plus, the wall I want the peg boards on has a large mirror on the other side in my en suite. So, I'm hoping for some lovely hints and tips as well.
There is a video on hanging the Skadis pegboard with command hooks. You should be able to find it with a quick RUclips search.
Sure wish I could put my sewing stuff in our livingroom! hehe I don't think my husband would be into it. I actually have a Skådis and just ordered another board because I was running out of room! They're great :)

Tried to find this #8 50 pound kit and only found #6 size at home depot with the same part number 25350. The #8 kit they have supports 75 pounds. Should I get the one for 75 pounds?
Interesting. I had no screws or dry wall anchors. Should i inquire with IKEA why I had non in my packaging? Great video!
No need to ask Ikea. Nothing they sell comes with screws or anchors. I have bought several items and nothing. Plus, you can't get IKEA on the phone.

Do you know if the ikea hooks fit on a standard pegboard as well?
No, the spacing is different and the IKEA peg board is more of a slot. I bought a lot of accessories from IKEA for a standard pegboard only to find that they wouldn't line up.
Do I have to have anchors for the screws?
I lost my mounting screws for the pegboard, do you anywhere i can get them?

oof, that inflation though. it went from 16.99 to currently 28.99 for the same size and color.

What kind of rod do you use to make the tape/sticker holder?
It was an IKEA accessory, but I believe it's been discontinued
would you be able to run cables underneath the pegboard? i have some wires that go up to a tv and want to place these above my monitors and below the tv
If they're fairly thin, I think that could work.

If you have a friend with a 3d printer, Than you have enough hacks. With a 3d printer you can almost print every Accessoire plus a thound more.
