Bike looks great! Love the editing of the vid. It’s good to actually see the trail from a different angle, it gives a real sense of the trail and not just from over a set of handlebars like so many folks vids. 👍
Hi Julie! Thanks so much for the comment. I really appreciate it. I'm not the strongest rider so I try and make up for it by putting a bit more time into bringing the edits to life. Having that noticed by folks is awesome. Thanks again for taking time to comment 😁
Top notch video mate, particularly that intro 👌. I went from a trail bike to an enduro bike last year, took a while to properly get use to it but, like you mention in the video, when you let it run and get aggressive with it, man does it come alive 🤘😎😁
@@streetpigeonmtb You said it, so capable downhill and then grand to pedal back to the top 🤯. I'd say you've got the perfect 2 bike garage with this and the HT. 👌
Thanks Jimbob. The paint certainly comes to life when you are outdoors. Sometimes the bike is completely blue, others purple. Cheers man. Felt I was riding well ❤️
Ace video as always man. Really cool to see you break down sections with the slow-mo stuff. Gives you a far better idea of how to approach stuff compared to POV. Bike looks sick too! 👌
Cheers Kieran. Thanks for taking time to comment and give the feedback. I'm pleased that you liked the slightly different format - I think most people have enjoyed it. Really well made video Jamie 👍👍 bike looks great, and the trail and landscape are amazing!!! 🤩 also, sweet how your bike's colour kinda matches the landscape 😄
Great review - looks like you are really motoring there! If I hadn’t just bought a mega tower I’d seriously consider a Bird - if only for that rad paint job! Ride long and prosper 🤘
Great edit Jamie, really demonstrates what these bikes are all about. I am so excited to get mine. Visited Bird in Hampshire to pick out what I needed, super helpful staff. Went with the XL, coil and 180/180 - at a spidery 6'4" I reckon it's going to be spot on. I do most of my riding in Shropshire and N Wales and I can't wait to get this on the uplifts!
Aw mate. That sounds like a beast. It'll be a perfect for you mate. So nice to have bikes that fit and work for us tall folks! Let me know how you get on 👍

Thanks bud. They are based in Consett so probably quite close to you. Modern enduro bikes are crazy capable for sure. How you getting on with your riding?
@@streetpigeonmtb yea Consett is pretty close to me! I'm defo progressing, not been riding as much as i would like at the moment, but i was out on Friday and felt like I moved up a notch in my riding, still slow but getting more confident on the tech!!

interesting to see how the bike will feel in a mullet set up iv ordered one frames but will try it in mullet set up with both linkages 180mm rear and 160mm rear
Hi there. A proud owner of Aeris 9 here. Just wanted to ask you how does it feel running 180 fork with 160 link since I am considering to change my 170 fork and what kind of fork offset and stem lenght you're running. Thanks and keep posting your nice English countryside vids✌️
Nice to hear it. Glad you running 35 mm stem since I am going from 40 mm to 35 mm with 44 mm offset. Short torso 😅 thx for your answer and keep shredding👋
@@streetpigeonmtb. Hi there. Replying to you after one year😂. Currently Running 180 rs lyrik 42 offset and 35 mm stem. It feels amazing. Bike is a monster in this setup. Thanks for "giving me green" here to put 180 fork and 35 stem. Keep shredding ✌️✌️
It's good. Although it is heavier the seat tube is steeper which means you are much more over the cranks when you climb. In some ways this makes it better on the really steep stuff. Also the coil, despite the weight, offers a load of traction which again helps on techy climbs. So overall, despite the additional weight, I don't feel the climbing is at all compromised.
Brilliant video yet again Jamie. How agile is the Aeris 9 compared to your old AM9? Had my XL AM9 for 4 and a half years now (first XL out of the nest!) and there's not been anything on the market that's made me want to change it until I found out about the Aeris 9. I love my AM9 but have been thinking about longer travel as I ride a lot of off piste and race enduro. Thinking about an Aeris 9 frameset next year and building it up, but worried that it might lose some agility being 40mm longer and a 19mm longer reach.
Demo one I'd say. Honestly, I think the bike feels very similar in many respects. I don't feel that the bike is bigger at all. It just feels like you can push it harder. I've certainly been riding it in the Tweed Valley which is pretty tight and twisty, and I've yet to find a trail that isn't quicker on the bike (according to Strava). It's very much an evolution of the AM9 - a positive evolution at that 😁
@@streetpigeonmtb cheers dude. Demoing one isn't too easy, I'm 3 hours fron the nest and Swinley isn't exactly a test for the bike. Good to hear it rides similar to the AM9 just that it takes bigger hits easier. Pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. Might try and talk Dan in to bringing the XL demo Risca so I can show him the off piste 😆
Stunning video mate, this bike looks fire ! 🔥Curiously it doesn't look that big related to its reach. Body proportions will be important when time will come to chose frame size... Why did you chose L instead if XL?
I went with L because I'm right in between and I know a lot of the trails I ride are quite tight and technical. Also the XL AM9 felt really big, maybe too big for me. However, I've had a wee go on the XL Aeris 9 now and I reckon it would have been fine. Maybe should have gone for it after all! If in doubt speak to the guys at Bird for advice. They have a demo fleet you could try also. Good luck dude. Great bikes ❤️❤️❤️
Bike Question / Well, suspension question - It seems to go without say the new 180mm Zeb is brilliant....(I upgraded a month ago from a 170 Lyrik Seelct+ to a 180 Lyrik Ultimate, and wow wat adiffewrence) how are you getting along with the Rear Coil Shock though?
Hey mate. In all honesty, I do not think I'll ever run air on an enduro bike again. I cannot describe how smooth and compliant it is. You don't get any trail chatter and the travel is plush. Some people might find the feeling a bit too 'dead' but for my riding ability and type of riding I just couldn't go back.
That's a really good question. Both are great bikes. If its all mountain with occasional enduro the AM9 is hard to beat. If it's all gravity and enduro the has to be the Aeris 9. It feels like it just wants to go down stuff fast 😁
Honestly, it's very similar. AM9 lighter, but slacker seat tube. Aeris heavier, but slightly better climbing positions. I think the advantage with an AM9 would be you could do a lighter build. I guess it depends on the type of trails you normally ride.
Cant help but feel the planted rear end is more to do with the presence of a coil as i cant see how much kinematic difference there is between this and the AM9. Once you go coil on any bike is very difficult to go back to an air shock as you can never replicate that small bump sensitivity and plough through chuck capability with anything else.
@@streetpigeonmtb yep I went megneg on my previous rockshox super deluxe air on the am9 to try and replicate the coil feel as it is claimed by rockshox. However when curiosity got the better of me and I committed to the coil i can say that the megneg still is a far way off an actual coil performance.
I feel doing 180/160 feels balanced to me. Despite the slacker head angle the handling doesn't suffer, you don't get strange steering or anything. I'm a really enjoying the slightly higher front end with that setup. I'm quite tall and most of the trails round here are steep so I feel it works well.
@@streetpigeonmtb I'm 6ft1 and I struggling with aeris 9 sizes. Bird says L, but I'm not quite sure. I'm thinking more for the ML. The problem is that I can't demo a bike. What do you think?
