I go to the gym (Im still small rn tho), Got accepted into Harvard and John Hopkins, and all together and a much happier person. I was part of the gimmick community on Twitter. I had one of those ign accounts. I lasted a bit longer than a year. People struggling with anxiety and depression, more and more toxicity and several members leaving. It turned from a fun side Activity into a stressful environment. Then a gimmick account opened that made fun of another gimmick account owners attempted suicide. That's the moment where i Just stopped. The Community has fallen apart and it Just sucks.

I think the one of the biggest flaws of Twitter is that everything is so fragmented and disjointed because of the character limit. If you want to go more in depth about a topic, you have to either use an external place to post it, make an image out of it, or use a thread that is hard to read and trying to share a thread as a whole is a nightmare. Even if it's twitters main gimmick , the user has to actively work around the website. Because of how much of a hassle it is , most don't bother, so you have to condense your thoughts immensely removing nuance and discussion. Scrolling through others tweets also just become this short disjointed text as well. Furthering that is stuff like quote retweets that further fragment conversation on a topic. For how much twitter is about "discussion", the websites format is counterintuitive to it.

i try to avoid twitter when i can for this reason exactly, on top of realizing that twitter and most other social media platforms use algorithms to keep you hooked, which gets you addicted to your own dopamine. i have caught myself endlessly scrolling on twitter and reddit before realizing what i was actually doing.
I'd like to mention that RUclips reply sections are pretty much just as shitty as Twitter reply sections, but no one really talks about it. I spend a significant amount of my time in them and I've been cutting back because I realized the toxicity was taking a chunk out of my self esteem. It's 50% backlash no matter what you say.

i try to avoid twitter when i can for this reason exactly, on top of realizing that twitter and most other social media platforms use algorithms to keep you hooked, which gets you addicted to your own dopamine. i have caught myself endlessly scrolling on twitter and reddit before realizing what i was actually doing.
I'd like to mention that RUclips reply sections are pretty much just as shitty as Twitter reply sections, but no one really talks about it. I spend a significant amount of my time in them and I've been cutting back because I realized the toxicity was taking a chunk out of my self esteem. It's 50% backlash no matter what you say.
The thing that sucks the most about it is that the platforms themselves are fine, it’s just the people on certain platforms ruin it, same goes for games and such, yeah fortnite is a bit money hungry and full of kids playing it but looking at it for the game on its own, it’s not half bad
