I tried so fucking hard to like it, I nearly broke my damn teeth trying to smile. But this is like trying to play off last month's spaghetti dinner, all rotten with mold, and trying to pose it off as today's dinner. It's so rough it I would never want to subject a human being to it.
This description is the best way to describe it. The only really good about the game for me is the Pokemon camp mechanic and that it helped me discover I like double battles which me makes me upset that they don't use it much. Also it feels it wants say something deep like about sports or fan culture kinda like how BW had it's story based around the ethics of Pokemon battles but it never seems to commit to it and don't started on the final gym.

They were actually caught just downloading a ROM of Super Mario Bros. and selling it on the Wii Virtual Console (albeit several years after Wii’s online services were shut down).
I mean they're totally in their right to sell emulated versions of games that they have the rights to, but it doesnt excuse how harsh they are on unofficial emulation, especially with their limited releases where you HAVE to buy a game within the first few months it's out.
It will come back, and Nintendo will keep trying to shut it down again because they don’t understand how the Internet works. If they would just officially release their iconic soundtracks on Spotify or something (as opposed to making me unlock it in Smash Ultimate or putting it in a barebones Mario collection that will no longer be available later next year for no reason), this wouldn’t be half as aggravating a situation.

Nintendo has always been over-protective of their IP while not giving us easy legal alternatives, and Doug is just carrying on the “fine” tradition of never questioning the old farts who still refuse to understand how the Internet or parodies work.

The thing is, Nintendo is normally NOT terrible at all. They don't always make the right choices but they've had a pretty consistent record of doing the right thing and being pretty consumer-friendly until recently. That just makes these fuckups so much more difficult to accept.

I think it’s time that we stop assuming that mega-corporations think of their customers in the same way that your local stores do. I always Saw SWSH as the weird middle ground of the series it did SO MUCH right if you play the game Like the games actually treating you like some random kid, and doesn't make the true villain instantly revealed in the first five seconds DLC instead of a Yearly Game (yearly games are pretty unrealistic for an RPG SERIES, so it's a much healthier approach than Yearly games imo) the New Pokémon, (the New Regis are the best of the new ones fight me) and the Gym leaders are all really nice and likeable characters. but at the same time does SO MUCH wrong The Story (for the most part, the "just some random kid" part is still good) the 3DS Game Graphics PAINFULLY slow battles that absolutely butcher competitive since you CAN'T TURN BATTLE ANIMATIONS OFF ONLINE. *A 20 MINUTE BATTLE TIMER* and 2 out of the 3 rivals are incredibly forgettable. Better than the dumpster fire that was USUM, but still a C tier game, I still like it, but a far cry from games like B2W2, and RSE.

As for Pokémon, GameFreak have always been incompetent. Back in the day, they had trouble fitting all of Johto on the Gold/Silver cartridge, so they went to Iwata for help. fast forward and he gets back to them, not only fixing their issues, but fitting the entire Kanto region on the cartridge on top of the game that was already there. It's time to drop GameFreak and just move Pokémon to an in-house development team managed by Nintendo themselves, but GameFreak owns a third of Pokémon itself, like the Pokémon Company and Nintendo, so they're holding onto their cash cow, and choking the life out of it in the process.

Same here, man. Always liked Nintendo over all of the other consoles, I grew up with SNES and Gamecube, but after playing God of War 2018 and seeing Nintendos stupid decisions recently, including making the switch 400$ instead of 300$ during the pandemic, I'm starting to like Sony more.
Yeah, I have always grew up as a Nintendo Fanboy and have no other type of console (for now). I grew up with the Wii and got Wii U, 3ds and the switch. It baffles me that it hard for Nintendo to communicate with their fanbase and makes good decisions.
I feel like the Devs are trying to be logical and the people in charge say no just because. Money. I'm pretty sure GF wouldn't mind a break year or two. I'm pretty sure the Devs were intending MM2 online to be decent. I'm pretty sure the AC Devs just weren't sure what they were doing. The higher ups just hate the good stuff and try everything in their power to get money. To them the Devs are just the things that make the money. It's basically EA with no literal abuse/overworking of the workers, but instead just anti-consumer practices that confuse people and are just there to get in the way. The Byleth trailer is a prime example. It showed self-awareness of the increasing scale of too many fire emblos in smash, it's probably Nintendo that just said "put Byleth in to promote Three Houses". Notice how Joker, Sakurais Favourite Character (probably) has so many little details to him, or Terry, or K Rool? Hell, it was his idea to make the game so big, people were shocked in the offices when he said he wanted the selling point to be "everybody is here". Sakurai and the Devs wanna do their best, Nintendo just is terrible at online and as such we get Switch Online. SwSh has been described as having potential even from people who were neutral or didn't like it, TPCI and Nintendo probably just forced it out too soon so there would be a new game for the holidays. Hell, just go watch the "Blessed or Messed?" on it by Fawfuls Minion, he's a really great guy and excellent RUclipsr/Reviewer. With ACNH all of the areas of the game are near flawless except for the incredibly flawed areas like slow pace and other natural traps AC has. So basically the Devs try their best, the higher ups just are too stupid to figure out what they should and shouldn't do.
It's like... Love Hate I'll say. Just we always experience the love and hate separately, often for extreme amounts of time. Currently it's more of the hate phase.

I think it’s time that we stop assuming that mega-corporations think of their customers in the same way that your local stores do. At the level of corporations like Nintendo, Sony, or others like Microsoft, Facebook, etc, individual customers are probably about as easy to analyze as a single rain drop for a weather man. The only advantage is that these corporations can do certain things to affect the customer base as a whole, and do things like fuck us. All the time. Because they can.

As for Pokémon, GameFreak have always been incompetent.
Back in the day, they had trouble fitting all of Johto on the Gold/Silver cartridge, so they went to Iwata for help.
fast forward and he gets back to them, not only fixing their issues, but fitting the entire Kanto region on the cartridge on top of the game that was already there.
It's time to drop GameFreak and just move Pokémon to an in-house development team managed by Nintendo themselves, but GameFreak owns a third of Pokémon itself, like the Pokémon Company and Nintendo, so they're holding onto their cash cow, and choking the life out of it in the process.

I feel like the Devs are trying to be logical and the people in charge say no just because. Money. I'm pretty sure GF wouldn't mind a break year or two. I'm pretty sure the Devs were intending MM2 online to be decent. I'm pretty sure the AC Devs just weren't sure what they were doing. The higher ups just hate the good stuff and try everything in their power to get money. To them the Devs are just the things that make the money. It's basically EA with no literal abuse/overworking of the workers, but instead just anti-consumer practices that confuse people and are just there to get in the way. The Byleth trailer is a prime example. It showed self-awareness of the increasing scale of too many fire emblos in smash, it's probably Nintendo that just said "put Byleth in to promote Three Houses". Notice how Joker, Sakurais Favourite Character (probably) has so many little details to him, or Terry, or K Rool? Hell, it was his idea to make the game so big, people were shocked in the offices when he said he wanted the selling point to be "everybody is here". Sakurai and the Devs wanna do their best, Nintendo just is terrible at online and as such we get Switch Online. SwSh has been described as having potential even from people who were neutral or didn't like it, TPCI and Nintendo probably just forced it out too soon so there would be a new game for the holidays. Hell, just go watch the "Blessed or Messed?" on it by Fawfuls Minion, he's a really great guy and excellent RUclipsr/Reviewer. With ACNH all of the areas of the game are near flawless except for the incredibly flawed areas like slow pace and other natural traps AC has. So basically the Devs try their best, the higher ups just are too stupid to figure out what they should and shouldn't do.
I love Nintendo. They make the best and most memorable games out there. But the choices they make are outright terrible.
