We have people that come from out of town for the Bone-In Catfish. It's also almost the ONLY Salad Bar left. As a kid (70's-ish) my Mom & I lived at the Golden Coral & Bonanza Steak Houses. Amazing Salad Bar & my addiction was the Tri-Tip chunk/Onion/Bell Pepper ka-bobs. She was a Rib-Eye fiend. To this day I still prefer Rib-eyes over most other steaks.
Salad bar? Rookies. I*m a GC veteran and heres the rundown, get there 15 min before dinner starts so you can eat at lunch price. If you can get away with a senior discount, go for it, all they can do is say no. "What do I know what you consider a senior? I*m a senior in high school." Dont buy soda, ask for water, and add sweetener if you like. Soda will fill u up much faster, and is way overpriced. Get steak on the rare side, the chicken is good, and the fried chicken livers are a delight if you can get them. The meatloaf isnt great, but it does have the traditional flavor, and hey, its meatloaf. The banana pudding and chess pie are good. Dont get ice cream from the machine, its worth the wait to have a staff member scoop out a serving of the pistachio or other flavors. Finish with a complimentary coffee and dont forget to tip your waitress....
My local for senior specials cuts off at 3 PM now so getting the overlap for dinner is no longer possible. And yes, water is the healthiest, cheapest and better choice.
Let’s keep in mind that every golden corral is different because you have different cooks. I’ve never been to a golden corral that taste the same as the next one. Out here in Florida the Golden corral in Pensacola is very good to eat at, so is the one in Fort Walton Beach Florida. I’ve never had a steak at any of the Golden corral‘s that was dry as the steak they were showing because it’s usually a different cut then what they showed. I love steak and it is almost always if not always, juicy!

My all time favorite entre is the pot roast. If you want carrots eat those. Don't forget to add extra brown potatoes and the mashed potatoes. If you want something lighter don't skip the chicken. The fried chicken is good but most people miss the baked. It is seasoned to the bone. Also the fried fish is really good. The tarter sauce is a great complement.
I like the Golden Corral and my favorite dish is the pork ribs bring some of your favorite seasoning to personalize them. They put out relatively small amounts of food and refresh it every 20 minutes. The fried fish goes really fast, so if it is out just hang nearby and wait for a fresh tray. So great ribs, fish and fried chicken at a all you can eat buffet. Just add a side of slaw and dig in.
Personally, I think you missed the mark on the fried chicken. GC is my #1 go-to for chicken! Far cheaper than Raisin' Cane's and so much better than KFC or Church's! I rarely have complaints at my local so long as they keep putting out fresh food; timing is essential. The absolute worst item I've ever had there is their guacamole - it's downright rank! With all that said, the price point at GC is still very reasonable as opposed to ordering at a fast food burger joint.
You went to the wrong Golden Corral. I have gone to some that had the issues that you mentioned but all of them don't. The one that I go to never has tough pot roast. I also put mine on the plate differently. I put the mashed potatoes down first and then add the pot roast on top and cover it with the dark brown gravy. Try it that way and get back to me. Also add some cheese sauce to the broccoli.
try copy cat crackle barrel meat loaf...its really good..every one has a little different version...but its still good..i use stove top savory herbs..glaze is the best with brown sugar n a squirt of mustard..
The GC in my town had good food, no dryness here. The fried chicken and catfish were great, as were the mac & cheese, pot roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, heck, everything was fine. Then COVID happened and it all went downhill and closed. Now I'd have to drive over 100 miles to the closest GC. So sad, I sure miss GC.
Golden Corral can be good for breakfast 🍳. I suggest get there early: first hour. Everything is fresh, fewer diners come in. Mostly older folks spending pension $ or wanting to get out. After CoVid19 they reduced about 30% of the buffet items, choices but the 🥓🥚🥔🥧🍗🥞 are +. For $10 it's worth the $.
When I lived close I liked to go in about 10:15-10:30. Get my breakfast items then at 11 they start putting out the lunch/dinner items. I'd have to drive 30 miles now to be close to one though, and I just can't eat that much anymore.

Adding some butter and lemon to the fish makes it taste better, also last time I was at Golden corral, I had a small container of seasoning salt with me to give their food a much better taste !!
I either haven't tried most of these food options or I just don't remember them, but I do recall eating one--the carrot cake. I don't know the reason for why their piece of cake tastes dry, but mine didn't. As for the sweet frosting, that's the way I like it so I am not anyone who would be complaining about a thing like that. Obviously, a lot of others like their carrot cake, too, or else Golden Corral wouldn't continue to serve it.
I like golden corral. The fried chicken is great but the steak is hit or miss. The salad bar is one of the you'll find and you can't leave without having some nan'r pudd'n.
It depends on what location you visit. Golden Corral in Waco, TX has great meatloaf and many other items that are pretty good. I live in Jacksonville FL since 2017 and the 3 Golden Corral locations here are not nearly as good as the one in Waco, TX, their meatloaf is like you said: bland and dry, just like the Cracker Barrel here in Jax, so bad!😖
This video is inaccurate. As a former Golden Corral employee I can honestly tell you that all the ítems are there that you mentioned are top quality. We made sure everything was cooked fresh. The meat loaf was always fresh and we would run out of it so fast that we actually had to order more meat for it. The bourbon chicken was always seasoned right and cooked perfectly. The pot roast was one of our customers favorites and i can honestly tell y’all that we would leave it cooking all night at low temperature so that the employees in the morning would have fresh pot roast in the morning. I cannot speak about other stores but the one that i worked at was top quality and always fresh. And if you ask me it is worth the money. To be honest at my store it was more than worth it. Our store had always the freshest food plus the employees were very dedicated to their work , and we also worked as a team. If i could work at that same location i would but sadly after that COVID-19 hit we weren’t as busy as we use too amongst other things so we were forced to shut down 😔
It’s been a few years since I ate at Golden Corral but back then the Pot Roast was Awesome. I guess it can make a difference which branch of the restaurant where you are making your judgement but the one I used to go to quite regularly was the one on I-Drive, Orlando, Florida. It was new when we started going there and I must say I was very impressed. But Oh Boy I really enjoyed IHOP and Red Lobster, my mouth is watering just thinking about all those goodies.
The Golden Corral near us on Southside in Jacksonville was Fantastic! ..The meatloaf wasn't dry nor was the steak. ..They are as good as the Management.
Before Covid, Golden Corral was good. I went after Covid and it was totally different. Honestly it wasn’t very good at all. I wouldn’t mind paying a little bit more to go to a nicer buffet. I think it’s worth it and there around

Why are you even eating out if things taste so bad? I doubt the things you make at home taste a whole lot better. They probably rate Jersey Mike's with five stars. I can make much better sandwiches than theirs, and that's the place I wouldn't go to considering what you are paying for one thing compared to a variety of things you can choose at Golden Corral. By the way, thanks for tip about the banana pudding--I will try it.

Fried chicken, fried shrimp, awesome pot roast (don't know what Mashed was smoking when they reviewed lol), baked potato , steak if you can get it medium rare (often overcooked). Rolls are divine. for the money you can't beat it
I ate lunch at a GC in NC. There was a young man near me who ate nothing but mac & cheese. Plate after plate, washed down with soda. Nothing but mac & cheese! I love the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and pot roast, but, hey, I guess if you really love mac & cheese--go for it!
Funny, I like the meatloaf, it's pretty good. Pot roast, nice & juicy, and the same with the Signature Sirloin Steak. The baked tilapia is my favorite, it's really really good. The Bourbon Chicken is pretty good as well. You guys need to go review the GC in Orem Utah. I can eat anywhere I want, and I prefer there. You guys apparently picked the worst GC to review.
I don't think the script writer has actually ever set foot in a GC. I've been to 9 or 10 here in Oklahoma and at least 5 more between here and Orlando. Never had a bad piece of meatloaf. They actually have some of the best meatloaf I've ever eaten.
I remember one time, the lady in the back allowed me to dip an ice cream into the chocolate fountain, instant ice cream with chocolate shell. I did it again the next time I went a few months later, the guy in the back was all, "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO THAT'S NOT ALLOWED!" lollllll not to mention another time they had that specially carved hawaiian brisket, it was all sliced up, but when I tried to get some, the chef put his knives down in front of it and stopped my fork midway and said he had to serve it.. the weirdest people work at golden corral, are they even human?
Also my favorite item (back in 2011) was their unlimited lobster tails. I gobbled up 4 of those bad boys... no regret, except that I have never eaten lobster since :( that shit expensive... for those that don't know, certain items (the breading on fish, chicken, shrimp, etc) contains an ingredient that expands in your stomach, making you feel full. it's in the stuffing, mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes too. the correct way to eat shrimp there is to peel off the breading, you can't imagine just how thick that stuff is.
I just went to GC for the first time a couple weeks ago and had most of these items and they were ALL good! Minus the unseasoned veggies but the salad bar made up for that. I was so pleasntly surprised because I didnt expect much at all. Not sure which one you went to but too bad for you.
I've got to go back, it was years since my last visit. Did enjoy all the choices and variety of foods. The hush puppies were delicious & well, as the pot roast.
I'm more a fan of their breakfast buffet. French toast, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns with sautéed peppers & onions and cheese sauce and bacon. Fruit to finish up.

They comment about the veggies not being seasoned. That is one of the things that draws me to Golden Corral. I don’t like heavy seasoning. If you want more seasoning, put it on yourself!
When you go to GC, you don't go for a fine dining experience. You go because you need to eat and you have a family to feed on a budget and the kids will eat their food.
I do not rember if you said anything about the Mac & Cheese, but at the Golden Corral in Rapid City, SD, I have to add salt to it to make it taste good. I normal do not put any salt on my food, I have been doing this for the pass 25 years.
I used to love their chocolate tower. Until I saw a kid stick her finger in it, lick the chocolate off, and then put her finger back in to get some more. No more chocolate covered strawberries for me.

I have a question and a comment. Q - Where is there a better salad bar? Comment - Steaks are cooked to order. You don't have to just choose one and hope for the best. The ones at my local GC are really tasty and moist (at least at Medium-Rare.
On what planet, in what alternate universe, can a cake have too much frosting? Get a clue Mashed Babe, the whole point of cake is to give us something to eat frosting with. Duh! Oh, and the fudge is superb. Because I like my steak "bloody-red walking rare" (as God intended) the grill cook always has to put a new one on the fire. We're regulars, he knows us, and we get taken care of. I've had steaks at GC that compare favorably with the $15-20 offerings at Outback, Texas Road House and Longhorn. The fried chicken is irresistible. Even the pizza is always covered with extra extra cheese, and don't let me hear you say a pizza can have too much cheese. The pot roast is great, the pot roast vegies are great, the shrimp, fried fish and mac-'n'-cheese is great. The spaghetti sauce not so much. Breakfast is an absolute bargain. The scrambled eggs are always just a little soft (again as God intended) and there are sauteed mushrooms, onions and peppers, and cheese sauce or country gravy to top them with. The bacon is never overcooked to a disgusting crisp, the sausage and ham is also very good. Two kinds of hash browns, and soon and so forth. Yes, the salad bar is excellent, especially the crab salad, tuna salad, and cole slaw. The only think GC is missing is a deli sandwich option.
our GC here in Richmond, IN is quite good. I do make a better meatloaf but that Pot Roast is yummy. I also love the baked fish, Collard/Turnip Greens, Brussell Sprouts and DARN that salad bar with the seafood salad. Why didn't they even mention the peach cobbler?
You guys are crazy. Who wrote this? The Pot Roast is delicious and easily cuts with a fork. The baked fish at my GC location is always fresh and delicious. Likewise- the carrot cake is very good and saves me having to make it. Don’t pay attention to everything you see in RUclips.
Sorry, but you're WRONG about the meatloaf! I've NEVER got meatloaf there that isn't amazing! Not sure what Golden Corral you have to check this, but the one near us is never like this at all with Roast Beef, Bourbon St Chicken, and Meatloaf. True, the steak is usually fatty, though.
So whoever wrote the script for this has NEVER set foot in a Golden Corral. Everything they said is a straight lie. They actually have some of the absolute best meatloaf. Their pot roast is also fantastic. I've never had steak at GC because I'm very picky about which cuts I enjoy, and Top Sirloin is not one of those. Same with their fish. I only care for certain types of fish. The fish they serve couldn't meet my standards no matter how they prepared it. The fried shrimp is great. Most of the chicken is also great. They have to season everything for the masses, including the cooked vegetables. That's why there are salt and pepper shakers on the tables. Even the worst of the 15 or so GCs I've been to hasn't been that bad.
I work at their. I don't agree with most of this . Most of there food is 100% real and cooked healthy. They have their own in house butcher and everything is cooked using low salt 🧂. Tips fri,sat and sun get there just before 11am and pay less. At 11 they put out their afternoon menu. Also they do to go , wich you can get a dish of what ever you want and pay by the pound. Some things are way more expensive buying in the store and there is a big difference in uncooked weight and cooked weight. Stick to the meats and cook the sides at home, last thing you want to pay for is some $8.50 potatoes 🥔.
Golden Corral should replace any cherry/grpae tomato at the salad bar with diced tomatoes. You may be able to find diced tomatoes nearby from the taco bar but you shouldn't have to do this.
This list is trash. Nothing at GC is that bad. Their steak, meatloaf, and pot roast are all pretty good for a cheap buffet. Who the hell goes to a buffet for the salad bar?
I'm not sure that should even be a question it's a dessert so obviously that's the best but the best desserts will probably be the chocolate ice cream chocolate marshmallows and chocolate rice krispie treats

It was new when we started going there and I must say I was very impressed. But Oh Boy I really enjoyed IHOP and Red Lobster, my mouth is watering just thinking about all those goodies.
The Golden Corral near us on Southside in Jacksonville was Fantastic! ..The meatloaf wasn't dry nor was the steak. ..They are as good as the Management.
Before Covid, Golden Corral was good. I went after Covid and it was totally different. Honestly it wasn’t very good at all. I wouldn’t mind paying a little bit more to go to a nicer buffet. I think it’s worth it and there around
Just read the other viewers reviews of Golden Corral, and I want to know just where these folks are eating that they find Golden Corral so horrible? Sounds like some very spoiled, picky eaters. Why are you even eating out if things taste so bad? I doubt the things you make at home taste a whole lot better. They probably rate Jersey Mike's with five stars. I can make much better sandwiches than theirs, and that's the place I wouldn't go to considering what you are paying for one thing compared to a variety of things you can choose at Golden Corral. By the way, thanks for tip about the banana pudding--I will try it.

@@cbfbmc Jersey Mike's is horrible. I've been to two different ones because coworkers outvoted me, claiming they were fantastic. At least at subway I can tell them what I do and don't want on MY sandwich.
Fried chicken, fried shrimp, awesome pot roast (don't know what Mashed was smoking when they reviewed lol), baked potato , steak if you can get it medium rare (often overcooked). Rolls are divine. for the money you can't beat it
I didn't mind the meat loaf and I'm a massive carrot cake fan it's not the best but wasn't terrible!

I ate lunch at a GC in NC. There was a young man near me who ate nothing but mac & cheese. Plate after plate, washed down with soda. Nothing but mac & cheese! I love the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and pot roast, but, hey, I guess if you really love mac & cheese--go for it!

Funny, I like the meatloaf, it's pretty good. Pot roast, nice & juicy, and the same with the Signature Sirloin Steak. The baked tilapia is my favorite, it's really really good. The Bourbon Chicken is pretty good as well. You guys need to go review the GC in Orem Utah. I can eat anywhere I want, and I prefer there. You guys apparently picked the worst GC to review.
I don't think the script writer has actually ever set foot in a GC. I've been to 9 or 10 here in Oklahoma and at least 5 more between here and Orlando. Never had a bad piece of meatloaf. They actually have some of the best meatloaf I've ever eaten.

I remember one time, the lady in the back allowed me to dip an ice cream into the chocolate fountain, instant ice cream with chocolate shell. I did it again the next time I went a few months later, the guy in the back was all, "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO THAT'S NOT ALLOWED!" lollllll not to mention another time they had that specially carved hawaiian brisket, it was all sliced up, but when I tried to get some, the chef put his knives down in front of it and stopped my fork midway and said he had to serve it.. the weirdest people work at golden corral, are they even human?
Also my favorite item (back in 2011) was their unlimited lobster tails. I gobbled up 4 of those bad boys... no regret, except that I have never eaten lobster since :( that shit expensive... for those that don't know, certain items (the breading on fish, chicken, shrimp, etc) contains an ingredient that expands in your stomach, making you feel full. it's in the stuffing, mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes too. the correct way to eat shrimp there is to peel off the breading, you can't imagine just how thick that stuff is.
I just went to GC for the first time a couple weeks ago and had most of these items and they were ALL good! Minus the unseasoned veggies but the salad bar made up for that. I was so pleasntly surprised because I didnt expect much at all. Not sure which one you went to but too bad for you.
Idk what location y’all went too but y’all should consider Google reviews before picking a GC location. The one where I live is awesome
I've got to go back, it was years since my last visit. Did enjoy all the choices and variety of foods. The hush puppies were delicious & well, as the pot roast.
I'm more a fan of their breakfast buffet. French toast, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns with sautéed peppers & onions and cheese sauce and bacon. Fruit to finish up.
A little hack for this place:
Go at 11, pay your buffet entrance and wait, you will pay lunch for the breakfast price.
The GC at Kissimme, Orlando has amazing fried chicken and steak. Never had a bad time with them.
Have you checked all the Golden Corral restaurants? I don’t think so, I used to talk like you but not all the establishments have the same taste in their food now if the carrots are bland just pick up the salt shaker and sprinkle in some
They comment about the veggies not being seasoned. That is one of the things that draws me to Golden Corral. I don’t like heavy seasoning. If you want more seasoning, put it on yourself!
They have hired a new head chef at our local one everything has much more flavor than before

When you go to GC, you don't go for a fine dining experience. You go because you need to eat and you have a family to feed on a budget and the kids will eat their food.

I do not rember if you said anything about the Mac & Cheese, but at the Golden Corral in Rapid City, SD, I have to add salt to it to make it taste good. I normal do not put any salt on my food, I have been doing this for the pass 25 years.
I used to love their chocolate tower. Until I saw a kid stick her finger in it, lick the chocolate off, and then put her finger back in to get some more. No more chocolate covered strawberries for me.

Mac and Cheese. It's obviously stouffer's mac and Cheese but still good. Prime rib is also decent for the money when they offer it.
I have a question and a comment. Q - Where is there a better salad bar? Comment - Steaks are cooked to order. You don't have to just choose one and hope for the best. The ones at my local GC are really tasty and moist (at least at Medium-Rare.
On what planet, in what alternate universe, can a cake have too much frosting? Get a clue Mashed Babe, the whole point of cake is to give us something to eat frosting with. Duh! Oh, and the fudge is superb.
Because I like my steak "bloody-red walking rare" (as God intended) the grill cook always has to put a new one on the fire. We're regulars, he knows us, and we get taken care of. I've had steaks at GC that compare favorably with the $15-20 offerings at Outback, Texas Road House and Longhorn. The fried chicken is irresistible. Even the pizza is always covered with extra extra cheese, and don't let me hear you say a pizza can have too much cheese. The pot roast is great, the pot roast vegies are great, the shrimp, fried fish and mac-'n'-cheese is great. The spaghetti sauce not so much. Breakfast is an absolute bargain. The scrambled eggs are always just a little soft (again as God intended) and there are sauteed mushrooms, onions and peppers, and cheese sauce or country gravy to top them with. The bacon is never overcooked to a disgusting crisp, the sausage and ham is also very good. Two kinds of hash browns, and soon and so forth.
Yes, the salad bar is excellent, especially the crab salad, tuna salad, and cole slaw.
The only think GC is missing is a deli sandwich option.
They mentioned fish. What kind of fish? Cod, catfish, perch, bluegill, carp?
The only problem is that closest restaurant is way out of the way for me to travel to because I don't drive.

There meatloaf was very good and the pot roast wasn’t as good as mine is, but not everyone wants onion soup mix on it. Pot roast was good
our GC here in Richmond, IN is quite good. I do make a better meatloaf but that Pot Roast is yummy. I also love the baked fish, Collard/Turnip Greens, Brussell Sprouts and DARN that salad bar with the seafood salad. Why didn't they even mention the peach cobbler?

You guys are crazy. Who wrote this? The Pot Roast is delicious and easily cuts with a fork. The baked fish at my GC location is always fresh and delicious. Likewise- the carrot cake is very good and saves me having to make it.

Sorry, but you're WRONG about the meatloaf! I've NEVER got meatloaf there that isn't amazing! Not sure what Golden Corral you have to check this, but the one near us is never like this at all with Roast Beef, Bourbon St Chicken, and Meatloaf. True, the steak is usually fatty, though.
So whoever wrote the script for this has NEVER set foot in a Golden Corral. Everything they said is a straight lie. They actually have some of the absolute best meatloaf. Their pot roast is also fantastic. I've never had steak at GC because I'm very picky about which cuts I enjoy, and Top Sirloin is not one of those. Same with their fish. I only care for certain types of fish. The fish they serve couldn't meet my standards no matter how they prepared it. The fried shrimp is great. Most of the chicken is also great. They have to season everything for the masses, including the cooked vegetables. That's why there are salt and pepper shakers on the tables. Even the worst of the 15 or so GCs I've been to hasn't been that bad.
I work at their. I don't agree with most of this . Most of there food is 100% real and cooked healthy. They have their own in house butcher and everything is cooked using low salt 🧂. Tips fri,sat and sun get there just before 11am and pay less. At 11 they put out their afternoon menu. Also they do to go , wich you can get a dish of what ever you want and pay by the pound. Some things are way more expensive buying in the store and there is a big difference in uncooked weight and cooked weight. Stick to the meats and cook the sides at home, last thing you want to pay for is some $8.50 potatoes 🥔.

Golden Corral should replace any cherry/grpae tomato at the salad bar with diced tomatoes. You may be able to find diced tomatoes nearby from the taco bar but you shouldn't have to do this.

This list is trash. Nothing at GC is that bad. Their steak, meatloaf, and pot roast are all pretty good for a cheap buffet. Who the hell goes to a buffet for the salad bar?
I'm not sure that should even be a question it's a dessert so obviously that's the best but the best desserts will probably be the chocolate ice cream chocolate marshmallows and chocolate rice krispie treats
