With me living not even 5 minutes from the Illinois River, I finally had to cut my teeth and see what fishing the river is all about... Still have ALOT to learn but I can see this being my new addition!
If you do fish any river system be sure to be aware of the water conditions, other boaters, and any objects/debris in the water!

We ar e in East Peoria.. looking for a good spot come 2021 spring ... decades ago, used to get aligator gar.. dont see them much anymore around Peoria
Lol ..That first carp wasn't even big. Using the medium action with 8 lb line was a good idea to make the fish look massive. I always use light tackle because it's more fun.

Them carp are even more fun on the fly, to bad the river is generally to dirty to pursue them with anything but bait.
It's been too long since I've hooked into a carp on the fly..tried this morning but not a carp in sight
damn i was there 5 years ago near the hollywood casino fishing for asian carp and we snagged plenty, my aunt wants to go fsihing by herself during the day near the illinois river, is it pretty safe? i am not sure i have not been there for 4 years and my Aunt lives in kansas, good video

I live within a mile from the Illinois River and about 2 miles from where the Illinois River enters Oklahoma from Arkansas, and I don't even bother to fish in it because Avery time I go by the river I see the froth and foam floating down the river from pollution coming in from Arkansas, I won't eat anything from the river so there is no point in fishing in it, not only this but Wal-Mart is in the process of building that multi million dollar swimming park on the Oklahoma side where watts dam used to be and I won't even swim in it, it's been known for decades that the chicken houses just dump their waist into it in Arkansas just before it enters Oklahoma, but if you go up river in Arkansas about 10 miles there is no froth or foam
