Thanks bro! It took a little while but I was fortunate to find a little pocket of them. I hope you get on some soon! Ice is coming back 😕 I'd rather fish open water all year haha. Thank you for watching 👊
Thank you ! Yeah I feel like I have to use this until March then the moving baits come out. But I was pumped to start out the year like this. Thank you for watching 👊
beautiful 1st bass of the year!!! I feel ya and understand your excitement Jared!!! 10:50 mark 😮 13:30 smallie!!!! Damn dude....i can't believe i missed this video. I'm so glad every now and again I go through the channels to see what i miss. What an unbelievable day for Jan 3rd!!!! All healthy looking fish and threw in a rockbass for the multi species!!!! 💪
Thanks Chris ! It was an insane day for January. My first open water bass in January. I was so happy. Thank you for checking it out and thanks for watching 👊
Dude, I need to get my ned rig on lol. Love those fish. Why do you make it look so easy!? haha. Hopefully it wasn't too, too cold when it was raining. I always worry about the open side of my GoPro while it's connected to my power bank when it starts raining.
Thanks man ! Yeah I've been ned rigging for years. It's my confidence bait. Got my smallmouth and largemouth PB's on ned rigs. It's all about the weight of the ned head and how simple they want the plastic. Early in the year they want a stick bait and as the year goes you can throw craws and bugs into the mix. Usually it's 1/10oz but sometimes you need 1/6 to get it down faster. And it was in the mid 40s that day. Not too bad cause there was no wind. I'm just a battery guy. I usually leave the house with 5 batteries. So I never worry about the external power packs or mics. I put a little Windjammer on the gopro itself over the front mic so it helps with wind and there's no connection. Thanks for watching 👊
Thanks Dennis ! Yeah it's always a fun place to go to in winter. Hope to get some more open water shots before ice comes back. Thank you for watching 👊
It's the backwaters of a small river in Central Illinois. Kind of out in the middle of a forest. Out of respect to my friend I can't really give exact location. Thank you for watching 👊
Jared, what a great day on the river! That is my type of Winter fishing... largemouth, smallmouth and rock bass in early January on the ned rig is insane! Blessings, Rob
Thanks Rob ! I was shocked myself being able to catch all that in January. I was super pumped up. Hoping to get some more before we get that safe ice back. Thank you for watching 👊
Thank you ! I caught more largemouth than smallmouth but I was real happy with the day. Winter fishing is never good to me. So this was fun. Thank you for watching 👊
This is the second video I watched today of people crushing bass in January. You and my buddy, AFG. I've never even tried to catch bass in January on open water. You caught some quality fish, Jared. I hope this is a good omen for this year for all of us. 😀
Thanks Bryan! I also hope this is a sign of a good year. It was my first ever bass in open water in January. Pretty wild. I've always had a goal to catch one every month of the year. I always get February-December but never January. I just watched his video too. It was solid. Just a real mild winter so far. We had safe ice for like 10 days total before it was gone. Everything is wide open still. Hoping to get back out once more but I'd like to ice fish at least once this year hahaha. Thank you for watching 👊
Thank you! I'm from the north but this was near central Illinois. Backwaters of a small river. I can't really give the exact location just for respect of my friend who showed me this place. Thank you for watching and the support !
Thank you so much ! It was a fun way to start 2023. I'm not going to give the exact location out of respect to one of my buddies. But it is a river near Central Illinois. Thank you for watching !
@@reelfeelfishing I enjoy your videos. I actually got a GoPro like 6-7 months ago 😂, just literally never used it except 1-2 times so never got my rhythm/editing etc down. Need to play around with it to get familiar.
@@Sean_Zilla thank you! I just gotta have the algorithm help me out to be seen lol. And oh sweet man! I'd use it more. It's fun. I really enjoy editing. Congrats man. Jan open water Bass!!!! And so much for ned rigs only catching small fish, like some say. Great descriptions about the technique and bite. Every fish looked so healthy, like that area supports a decent bait fish population this late in the year. Great job!
Thank you ! Yeah it's a fun spot coming out of winter for sure. Had no clue they would be stacked up like that. Love the ned rig. It's my go to for a few months of the year. Thank you for watching 👊

That was so cool!👊💥🎣 If this is any indication of what 2023 holds for you my friend, you’re going to be MORE than blessed! Way to go!👏

Great video Jared. Beautiful smallmouth man. I do like to icefish but no ice here in the mitten. After watching this video I went to the basement and grabbed one of my spinning rods. Gonna hit the river soon. 🙌🎣
Thanks Joe! And thats awesome, I'm happy I can get you to get out there in the river. River and creek fishing is my favorite. Bro those largies were very nice and healthy!! Very impressive with all of that current you were able to detect the subtle bite! That smallie was super pretty at the end too. Im happy I subbed and will be looking through the rest of them too!
