    One thing to note is that you can get quite substantial samples of Kindle books, which is generally sufficient, at least for me, to decide whether I want a book or not. The percentage of good books compared to what is out there is quite low, so am quite prepared to buy when I find one. Although occasionally Kindle Unlimited does have a book I want to read, most often it seems like just a dustbin for sub standard writing. As to Prime, I am subscribed to that for other reasons, so the books are a minor bonus.

    I've been enjoying Prime Reading for quite a while. This is where I'm getting my casual reading from. Outside of a few "first party" titles, most of the books I've come across are genre books, the kind of stuff you'd find at a bookstand at the airport or whatnot. Stock thrillers, romance, and scifi. Like in movies, for every Godfather is a hundred Dinner For Schmucks. It may not be filet mignon, but there's nothing wrong with eating a good burger. So when I do want something a little more substantial, I'd either subscribe to a month of Kindle Unlimited to get through as much of my reading list before the month expires or buy the book of interest. If you're not fussy or particular and can enjoy what's in front of you, Prime Reading isn't so bad. It's a solid 3/5.

    I used KU to find and fall in love with many of the books they have that aren't available anywhere else for free. Now that I have to pay a subscription for the same books I am sad.
    Edit: I was confused and heartbroken when I saw that KU wasn't free any more because I was reading a KU book that I had a sample of. But then I found that same book on Libby. Screw you Kindle Unlimited

    I’m still on the free trial of Kindle Unlimited that came with my Paperwhite Signature Edition. I’ve been using it to read some classics that have interested me for a long time, but other than that I haven’t found much that would encourage me to continue paying for it after the free trial expires. But it sounds like you’re saying a lot of popular new releases are available on KU, right? That may be a good reason to keep it and get into reading newer stuff.

      I’m with you, Darth, that I got 6 months of KU with buying my two Kindles (11th Gen normal model and Signature model). I also am reading a few non-fiction books on writing and running that interest me; other than that, the selection is rubbish: self-published fodder, romances, and junk. Top authors and bestsellers are not, and never will be, on KU. What I can say is I’m on Audible Plus, which is $7.99 a month (two dollars less than KU), and actually has some quality audiobooks. I like that more than KU and will likely keep that
      subscription. Worth a peek if you ever use audiobooks (I listen to them on my Signature Kindle,, in fact). Just another option, keep reading. 📚

      @@Burps___ I'm an Audible subscriber as well and that's absolutely worth it. Love listening to audiobooks while running/walking and they really do have endless options on there. In many cases you can even choose between different editions with various narrators which is great.

      Not sure what you are interested in reading but the 20 book series of A.J. Rivers is great on Kindle Unlimited. I just started a 10 book series Wolf Lake Thriller. You just have to put in the time searching and reviewing reviews and what is your genre. I love murder, mystery, suspense. Some of Colleen Hoover books I just read on Kjndle Unlimited. RUclips even has some free audiobooks to listen too now. Don't forget your local library and online library app through your library. You can also seek out the book boxes in your local neighborhoods swap books in and out. I have found cheap books at flea markets, garage sales and your local goodwill and thrift stores. Find people in your community that you can swap books with. Trust me a ton of book readers buy books and do not have anyone in their life that read so they end up donating the books to these places. Local libraries even have books for sale in a designated spot.

    Prime reading is not fun in a way that the books that u have access to our not quality books in my humble opinion. They have free magazines an all for free to read included in Prime reading. I have prime membership so I use the prime reading, might as well BUT mostly i can only read samples with prime reading.

    So kindle unlimited is like a system where you borrow books and if you like them you can buy them for like £3, if you don’t like them you can send them back and get a different one,
    You don’t have to pay for the book itself unless you really love it and want it, you get the whole book on unlimited?

    • @anacastanon1393
      @anacastanon1393 Год назад

      Yes, you borrow it, and you have up to 20 slots, and if you wish to read another, you have to return one. I agree that depends on what you like to read, many of the books are available free elsewhere and you get to keep them on your e-library.
