    Burn, burn burn! Thank you guys so much for the comments, let me know what new tricks you've managed to pull off with Abysia!

    It's worth noting how their fire skills, especially when enhanced by pheonix flame, modify the effects of fire balls, falling fire and all that. My first time play Abysia against AI, I started packing so many mages into my armies because watching battles open with flames falling from skies, constantly, felt thematically the right way to play this race.

      Exactly! If you're ever feeling like dropping an actual apocalypse on some poor human troop's head, this is the nation to go with ;)
      Thanks for the comment and feedback!

    This was quite a good guide indeed, I really appreciate it.
    I always feel like other guides out there are too abstract and generic, but this one was great, very practical and concise.

      Really glad you enjoyed it! I'll be doing more nations in the very near future, were there any in particular that you were interested in?
      And yea: I sort of feel the same way. I feel like most guides are just "ideas" and "theories"... wanted to give people something a little more concrete to be able to save them time and get them going ;)

    Good guide. With limited time, appreciate a guide that shows tips and tricks in a simplified and condensed manner.

      Appreciate it! After seeing your comment, I added chapters to the video, so hopefully that helps you in bookmarking the video, and referring to each section as needed (so you don't have to digest the whole thing in one go). Hope it helps!

    I would like to see you do a guide on pangea EA

      Sounds good: I'll start working on early age Pangea next. Need to do a couple of test runs and grab some footage to display the examples, but I should be able to have it up in the next day or so. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Yo my man, awesome video. I have a suggestion. Could you make a description/guide series. U can even use DaVinci pro editor to fox up audio and just add different pictures as u explain. I know it's probably stupid but just a suggestion.

    • @AOReaper
      @AOReaper  2 месяца назад +1

      Sure thing! Do you mean in general just a series about Dominions 6 in particular? I already use Davinci, so I'm happy to shift stuff around to make it easier to digest, what did you have in mind? Also, any particular nations you'd like to see?

    • @AOReaper
      @AOReaper  Месяц назад

      I just revisited this comment, and realized you might have meant to make a "How to use Davinci" guide? If that's the case: sure thing, I'll throw one up on here, just wanted to make sure that's what you were looking for.

    was this fixed about the AI archery targeting salamander commander mages? Hasnt been happening to me. Air shield still doesnt seem bad though just didnt see this video before i did it

    • @AOReaper

      I just got sniped last night on a test game of LA Pyrene where I had a single blood bishop and 10 knights, the indy archers ran right past my knights and shot my commander all by himself repeatedly until he died.
      I know somebody mentioned there being a separate targeting of "single commanders" in small armies for the indys, but I haven't verified anything about it. Given the fact that (for example) indy commanders (50 command points, no line formations) can have units in line formations might indicate that Illwinter wants indy's to provide a little more randomness/surprise, so they've implemented some of this stuff. That being said: I can't confirm, as I haven't hardcore tested anything, but I'd be happy to if you would help me figure out exactly HOW to ;)
      Thanks for the comment and feedback!

      I just retested it with a blood bishop, 4 cambion knights/2 pyrenian knights and 2 man at arms on guard commander. The knights on each side rushed each other (indy and myself) and the crossbows ran right past the knights fighting and shot my commander repeatedly until he died. I feel like this may still be a thing. More testing would be required obviously, but it still seems like its possible (ironic that this randomly just happened though as we're speaking about it).

      @@AOReaper my guess is it has something to do with the bless. I took blood vengeance, enchanted blood, and couple hp boosts. Maybe the AI doesnt want to kill itself on the tankier defensive blesses and it dissuades them compared to reinvig you have? Or reinvig makes them target it specifically.
      I am a noob and I dont think I've ever had my abysian commander/mage die to an archer. I believe I've always taken some additional "tank' bless for at least 1 extra hp and that would be my guess to trick the ai into not shooting them. I could be completely wrong and just gotten very lucky so far!
      Though this doesnt make sense for warlocks/regular non sacred commanders. I definitely use the sacred pyro mages and my prophet a lot more than those... Hmmmmm.

    • @AOReaper
      @AOReaper  18 дней назад

      @@MichaelSmith-fo6qq Exactly. This is a difficult one to test for, unless you have somebody who can tear apart the code (not me YET), so I think we'll just have to keep it in mind while we hopefully survive against these darn random archers!
      Abysia too is a little more awkward to test vs LA Pyrene, mostly because of the BASE HP differences. For example: in the last case, I took +10 undying, which would theoretically push the blood bishops over the dragons, but do they count that blessing? Do they choose their target BEFORE the bless goes off, perhaps? That would be interesting, as it would heavily weigh the favor towards blesses that are automatic (i.e. Larger/etc).
      I'm really curious if there will be a "go-to" bless to protect commanders after detailed testing (i.e. "air shield" for squishy human nations or something - though I doubt this particular one haha). It IS crippling to expansion phase where you often have tiny armies going out to maximize your expansions with minimal cost...

      @@AOReaper Alright it happened to me this time as EA abysia. Weird! I guess airshield 100% is necessary. Thanks for that tip. I probably never would have noticed the glitched targeting
      Was playing a blitz and suddenly 2 of my mages die to the same barrage of arrows ONLY shooting at them. -.-

    What would you recommend for designing a Pretender if I wanted to play as a flying hieroglyph?

    • @AOReaper
      @AOReaper  Месяц назад

      I might be missing which pretender chassis you're referring to... do you perhaps mean the Hieracosphinx? Or are you being more generalized in your description, and essentially mean something that LOOKS like an Egyptian Hieroglyph of some sort? I'd be happy to help you rip through ideas if you let me know a little more about what nation you're looking for, and what "idea".

    • @sofiasantiago3351
      @sofiasantiago3351 Месяц назад +1

      @@AOReaper I meant the Divine Glyph, tier 4, which costs 90 points for Abysia. Perhaps I should have phrased my question differently :))
      Its difference from the Betyl of Writing is 2 levels in astral and 1 in fire, instead of 2 levels in earth and 1 in air. So, what other design options you could recommend if I don't want to level up air?

    • @AOReaper
      @AOReaper  Месяц назад +1

      @@sofiasantiago3351 Ahh, makes much more sense, thank you :) Divine glyph isn't bad, but I'm worried (since you said flying) that you think the glyph can move province to province. He, unfortunately, is stuck in one province unless you use magic to spell-drop him on somebody, which becomes prohibitively expensive.
      When designing the pretender, I ALWAYS take into account the nation, so if I were set on utilizing the Divine Glyph, I would look at blesses that benefit my nation, as well as globals/end game spells/forgings he can make for me. One huge weakness for EA Abysia is late game diversity, so the global spell "Arcane Nexus" (Ench 9) is a phenomenal way to correct this (it will grab so many astral pearls so that you can forcibly empower people and indy's you find into stronger paths that you don't ordinarily have).
      This is obviously an AI based strategy, as most player games won't let you cast this without a massive challenge (and possibly coalition to kill you).
      Still: a great setup that's generically powerful, but leans into diversity instead of hyper specialization would be F1/S6, MR +1, Magic Weapons (so sacreds can handle pesky blesses/ethereal units in a pinch), 8 dom, 3 order, 2 prod, 4 heat, 1 growth, 2 luck and 2 magic dominion. This grants us a MASSIVE amount of income, troop production, but also lucky events TEND to favor us, so we gather random gems here and there. This is one of the best dominions you could ask for, so you spread it hard with 8 dom, and you have the money to recruit an absolute truckload of troops. I would lead on my heavy fire aura troops in combat, build a LOT of forts, labs, and temples to scale well into the late game, and then focus my 6 astral pretender into LATE game astral globals. Remember: he only has miscellaneous magic slots, but a LOT of astral buffs are misc items, so you can easily get him a Coin of Meteoric Iron (+1 astral), Ring of Sorcery (+1 sorc paths), and then once you've buffed his astral to ~8 or 9, you can cast strands of arcane power (Evo 9) to turn your pretender into a murderous mind hunter within your dominion.
      That's how I would do it, if I had decided on a Divine Glyph ;) If you need any further explanation, please don't hesitate to ask!
