    I havent played much Ind but Ive played a decent bit of LA Piconye. So im just spit balling here I would try using them for bogging down amd surrounding giants at least in LA they are really good at fighting giants

      Not just attack density, but large units like giants typically are hitting one target, but the Picoyne are 5 to a tile, so really strong units that target single units with powerful attacks end up wasting a lot of the damage potential with overkill. They are very bad against a strong mage evo corps though. In LA they have high defense skill for their infantry, solid flying unit and commander with thug potential, the most amassable crossbow in the game, the ability to make powerful complicated communions, and a strong sacred/bless/smite game It's a good time

      @@nickwoodfin2690 They sound solid as heck to me, given that description. Maybe I'll throw them on the list, and see what I can find when I get to them. In fact, I might make them one of my next few videos, that sounds like a FUN thing to "figure out and make playable" for the average person, who might find the diminutive size too daunting to take on!

    Love the format a bit too much time on the units since you show the useful on e in the expansion may be just say the one whit niche case in the presentation. Cambiant count are my favorite blood searcher you don't need any thing to protect them against blood event and blood 3 researcher is the sweet spot where you don't need more micromanagement. I don't pick luck in the bless since you have a easy access to group luck but undying and blood regeneration are a supreme value to them. Imprisoned rainbow that add strength get a good value. I would aslo add that Succube are superb in the scenario that you show but don't use them aggressively like dryad you will lose them. "your late" game battle are representative against a mighty ai but a player will have more mage support then what you showed my researsh is evo 2 blood 4 thau 5 constr 5 I made const 5 before the other if I can get away whit it

      Thanks for the comment! And I love those Cambion counts! The higher morale alone makes them one of my favorite in this nation, and they do make things so much easier when you give them a sanguine dowsing rod! And of course the armies can't be player style armies in my demonstrations, hahaha, I would expect FAR more more support, and a hell of a lot more scripted elemental spam, and even battlefield wipe spells. The idea with the guides is to show players how to set up certain moves of their own, and then encourage them to hop in multiplayer games with us all to figure out then how to counter players. Mighty AI I'm not sure - I don't play with AI often, so I wouldn't be a good judge, but I'm trying to give representations of player ARMIES, not so much their mage setups ;) Too much variability in there to do in short time haha.       @@skoub3466 Yep, I just run into the issue of imagining how people would spend those gems then. It would get crazy the # of combinations I'd need to show to really give a good set of examples, and the video would be ~60 minutes. I might try throwing some more "realistic" armies in there in the future, or hell: to make it easier I might just ask some MP players for permission, and use the old turn files from old games in these vids. That might be easier for nations that aren't brand new. Solid idea, thanks!

      @@AOReaper To me, personally, magic in general is the biggest hurdle. There is more spells in a single school than other games have all together. Knowing what counters what, what is a priority when is hard when you are staring at hundreds of spells... Then there's communions, Sabbath's, boosters, crafting, horror usage... Hard to take it all in and then make intelligent decisions about it all...

      Possibly, but in testing it sure as heck seems to be working the same. If it isn't (or its INTENDED not to) then people will have to make a different specific pretender with this nation, but fortunately as I mentioned in the pretender design section: this nation is SUPER happy with pretty much any decent bless.     Do EA TNN! They are such a great nation even after losing some air magic in dom6! Their assassins can use charm! Just imagine being able to steal just about any commander for just a handful of glamor gems! Happy to help come up with things to talk about :p

      Haha, thanks for the idea! I was dabbling around with EA TNN earlier this month, and boy it was rough for them. Their cavalry suffered from the "light warhorses now have no prot" syndrome, and it was really rough using both the Ri and the Sidhe Lords even more importantly. That 4 prot REALLY hurts vs archers and the commanders when they get dumped off of their fay horse onto the ground, as the horse loses 3 defense vs its rider in the case of the Ri, and 2 for the Sidhe Lord (now that their stats are tracked separately). Hmm... how to make up for these things... We lost our lightning spammability, but we gained Glamour in return. We lost mistform/fog warriors for the most part (or at least easy access to it), but gained twilight access (and darkvision on many troops/mages), and really good access to defense plays. I think my issue with elves in this edition is that they became MORE elfy in their ways, and more vulnerable to normal elf counters. In addition, they didn't gain GREAT access to any direct damage that they've lost now with Air access OR defense (fog warriors). Tell you what: I'll give them a try. If I sit down and let them noodle around in my brain for a while, and do some testing, I should be able to figure them out, and I'll let you know what I find.     was this fixed about the AI archery targeting salamander commander mages? Hasnt been happening to me. Air shield still doesnt seem bad though just didnt see this video before i did it

      I just got sniped last night on a test game of LA Pyrene where I had a single blood bishop and 10 knights, the indy archers ran right past my knights and shot my commander all by himself repeatedly until he died. I know somebody mentioned there being a separate targeting of "single commanders" in small armies for the indys, but I haven't verified anything about it. Given the fact that (for example) indy commanders (50 command points, no line formations) can have units in line formations might indicate that Illwinter wants indy's to provide a little more randomness/surprise, so they've implemented some of this stuff. That being said: I can't confirm, as I haven't hardcore tested anything, but I'd be happy to if you would help me figure out exactly HOW to ;) Thanks for the comment and feedback!

      I just retested it with a blood bishop, 4 cambion knights/2 pyrenian knights and 2 man at arms on guard commander. The knights on each side rushed each other (indy and myself) and the crossbows ran right past the knights fighting and shot my commander repeatedly until he died. I feel like this may still be a thing. More testing would be required obviously, but it still seems like its possible (ironic that this randomly just happened though as we're speaking about it).

      @@AOReaper my guess is it has something to do with the bless. I took blood vengeance, enchanted blood, and couple hp boosts. Maybe the AI doesnt want to kill itself on the tankier defensive blesses and it dissuades them compared to reinvig you have? Or reinvig makes them target it specifically. I am a noob and I dont think I've ever had my abysian commander/mage die to an archer. I believe I've always taken some additional "tank' bless for at least 1 extra hp and that would be my guess to trick the ai into not shooting them. I could be completely wrong and just gotten very lucky so far! Though this doesnt make sense for warlocks/regular non sacred commanders. I definitely use the sacred pyro mages and my prophet a lot more than those... Hmmmmm.

This is a difficult one to test for, unless you have somebody who can tear apart the code (not me YET), so I think we'll just have to keep it in mind while we hopefully survive against these darn random archers! Abysia too is a little more awkward to test vs LA Pyrene, mostly because of the BASE HP differences. For example: in the last case, I took +10 undying, which would theoretically push the blood bishops over the dragons, but do they count that blessing? Do they choose their target BEFORE the bless goes off, perhaps? That would be interesting, as it would heavily weigh the favor towards blesses that are automatic (i.e. Larger/etc). I'm really curious if there will be a "go-to" bless to protect commanders after detailed testing (i.e. "air shield" for squishy human nations or something - though I doubt this particular one haha). It IS crippling to expansion phase where you often have tiny armies going out to maximize your expansions with minimal cost...

      Yea, you can check out my other video on communions (in the Dom 6 playlist) - it explains turbo communions in greater detail along with ordinary communions.     If it’s dominion dependent spawn just preach with prophet to get 7 candles in province, then stack spawners there. No need to waste design points on domscore just for that

    2/10 guide best things about Ind are dense sacreds with dread/awe or fear, smite spam from comms and rec anywhere H3, rec anywhere cannibal shamen, cheap slave satyrs for patrol, bitch mothers for thugging and rituals like Infernal Disease. Fails to mention most of that in favor of… weak statbless and gogs who are like… good but just better barbs. Also making gog fathers instead of mothers, too. PS piconye troops with BE on them are almost impossible to kill in melee due to high def and prot and 5/square. They aren’t great due to low mapmove, but can be useful. E1 can forge

      Normally testing Ind builds I look for 20ish provs by t12 ( more is unrealistic in mp anyways), couple lvl3 researched (awake pretender), maybe a throne if good matchup or more likely starting 1st war

      Various ones. They have a lot out there, Midjourney, Dall e 3, all sorts of em. I've had mixed results with different ones, but I'd try a few!

      I really think you'll love it but in the MEANTIME (your current game where you can't change it), try to throw a small communion in there with a few abbot magi in there, and drop "Gifts from Heaven" (Evo level 5, along with stellar cascade spam) on their skulls early in the battle. It'll wipe those goof-balls out, and then if your script switches around order 4-5 to other stuff, you'll be good to go ;) If you keep hitting yourself, do stellar cascade spam in a turbo communion (i.e. "Strong mages are the slaves, weaker mages are the spammers") and watch those giants fall asleep ;) Large size = easy to hit. Let me know how it goes!

    I agree with your comment that the noble choices of units are underestimated and thought I had to choose an awake (with bad scales like yours) or having reasonable scales and that go with nobles - and as I still routinely burn through some cheap chaff units as well taking fire with commander morale bless seemed to help. Real problem with mage pool getting diverted into tattoo casting though so needed the old 1 recruit cost H1 commanders or indi clerics to help do blessing on non prophet armies.

      Yep! And as I'd mentioned to somebody else already, Marvernis biggest issue is their reliance on communions + their cap only greater druid means they need to have a plan to ultra protect those old goofballs. Makes it really scary if you don't have a preventative bless, or some kind of defensive focused script for them. Morale bless definitely helps with the boars not trampling as much, but try out "righteous wrath" instead. If boars are dying, they "inspire" one another into +6 morale, and that REALLY helps. Anything preventing mass tramples kills one: and boom - super morale pigs!

      @@andrewcole4843 I might even urge you to skip the high dom bonuses (O1/P2) to get a better setup bless wise for yourself, or even more magic scales. That prod/order (in my humble opinion) really doesn't feel needed for these guys.

      Hahaha, the AI sure won't know what to do with all of that crazy boar-spawn! If you're battling the AI, feel free to go crazy on the mother oak -> conj 5 rush and just spam spam spam ;) I highly HIGHLY recommend taking the death bless for "need not eat" for these guys in that case. You can handle the death scales, and the boars won't starve your whole nation like they often do otherwise that way ;)

      @@CaptScrotes That's exactly it! The flexibility in ALL of the systems in dominions 6 is amazing. Look at the simple act of repelling? IF you take a larger bless (for example) to hit a size higher, certain units gain +1 range on their melee weapons, which SOMETIMES enables them to repel, which is based on attack skill, vs the opponent who can counter with morale boosts, or longer weapons, or... etc etc. Its an amazing game to flex your mind in, and frankly: we've got one of the GREATEST communities with this game that I've ever seen. Its amazing, and I'm glad you're here to share it with me!

    Great Marverni video. I was playing a lot of them last month, and struggled with early expansion so its great to see that covered. My playstyle leaned into a Dormant BloodFountain, Unaging, Larger, Blood Vengence with Stellar cascades as the target over gifts, with the option to either Earth Blood Deep Well or Mother Oak. Does prevent a cave EBDW tho. Something I found nice was that you can have the summoned Boars bootstrap you into Blood and Patrol when you arent in an active war with them. Looking forward to the next part and next nation.

      They DEFINITELY help with the patrolling aspect of it, I just hated BV because of the fact that inevitably, SOME druid is going to go off-script and Gifts From Heaven murder himself, and given that the BV/druid strat is generally "cost them more than you cost you" and elder druids are cap only, I ran into a situation where unless I gave them magic bows and told them "script + fire at rear" they would off-script themselves to death :( Have you experienced any of that yet, or have you found the stellar cascades focus to work well enough that you can handle the attrition? Either way, thanks so much for the feedback! Glad its hitting home for ya!

      @AOReaper I have indeed experienced the unfortunate Arch Druid commits self gifts on boars. My current solution to this? Just, dont research up to Gifts of Heaven, I view it as a trap for the nation. You have such high earth and astral communion access that I play my mages as a Buffers, Fluffers, and Snipers. I do Construction, Alteration, Enchantment, and especially Thaumaturgy. Mindburn, Soul Slay, eventually Master Enslave, after dropping Weapons of Sharpness, Legion of Steel, Iron Will, Regen, and all the new Animal Buffs. Am I missing out on THE Marverni evo spell. Oh absolutely. But if I want to run BV this is the way I find myself doing it.

      @@MrCarodan 100% smart plan. I like it. As long as you replace "X spam" with "Mind burn" spam and somebody isn't capable of dropping antimagic on their troops, you're good to go. We only have 2 nations in front of it, and I'm not deadset on sticking with them in that order, so it might be sooner than you think :P I have a particular fondness for overwhelming reap... err, undead swarms, so I just might prioritize it a bit more than normal ;) And thank you for the feedback! I'm starting to lean more towards squishing them all into one video, and just leaving out more specific strategies. Maybe make a second playlist of "deep dives" for each nation or something that go way more in depth.

      @@thatoneguy5856 I mentioned it on your other comment, the various free ones out there are great, but mixed results. I'd recommend using 2-3 different ones for each image, and then comparing them to one another. The biggest difference I've noticed is SPECIFICALLY when I download specific LORAs or "models" for each one, and then try that out. That usually customizes it much better for you.

    Awesome guide! Not a Nation I've played, but I want to try them now. I'm in my first MP game in YEARS and picked MA Eriu. I can hardly find any information on them and they got a little rework in Dominions 6. If you've the time/interest a guide for them would be awesome because I am struggling.

      @@AOReaper Thank you, I very much appreciate it. I'll try and keep this brief, but here goes: So, I do think the nation has changed significantly since Dominions 5. The removal of Air (kinda), an entire new path of magic in Glamour, new units, etc. I honestly think MA Eriu might be stronger, but my biggest issue has been the early expansion. MA Eriu has a pretty underwhelming cap only sacred, it's not terrible, but archers eat your troops alive - arrows don't seem to care about Glamour (the unit buff), high defense, and your Firbolg all have low Prot (7) and no hats. The new Cattle Raider one which as berserk and fantastic damage also lacks a shield. The only real success I've had (and this is SP) is to take an Awake monster expander, but even there Eriu's options seem a bit underwhelming: the big Boar Pretender can do alright, but needs Reinvigoration, a Dragon is OK, and you get a national discount on the Green one. The nation really wants scales for income because I feel its real strength is your recruit anywhere Sidhe Lord. Unfortunately, they're expensive, and require a lab and temple. I've tested a ton of expansion attempts in SP at this point, and this was the best I've gotten. But, I'm hardly a Dominions expert or veteran. Anyhow, thanks again and I look forward to more videos from you! Best wishes.

      ​@@matthewdrake7 Alright I'll type my thoughts out AS I figure out expansion here. Glancing initially at their changes, they seem VERY elfy. I don't disagree about their Sidhe Lords everywhere recruiting being important (raiding esp.), but it would take some work to make them "work" as good raiders against simple counters. Ok, on first expansion attempt, I tried a "basic" elf approach. Took an awake monolith with twist fate and a bit of reinvig. Worked WELL, but not great. I didn't like their lack of killing power, but they expanded well enough (~13 provinces). Still: that's barely passable. Second try: super elf approach - imprisoned, 5x heroism, 2x defense, 1x unsurroundable, little damage, and let's see: alright as long as I don't attack anything with nets (damn you berytos indys), I slaughter everything. After 3 battles your troops are unhittable, and you have researched alt 3 for blur to make it even better. I'll be back on tonight with more examples, just wanted to give you quick ideas. The one that worked pretty well (above) was Great sorceress, imprisoned, 6 dom, 2O/0/2H/0/0/2M, Magic paths 4F/4A/4W/4E/4D/2N/5G/1B, bless = 3x defense, 2x reinvig, 1x str, 1 x awareness, 5x heroism. Makes your sacreds essentially unhittable, and the key here is that LATER (with blur researched) your damn Sidhe Lords are unhittable if thugging. Can't go larger bless on them anymore (it only increases their MOUNTS to size 6, so no weapon/repel bonus), and that was always sub-optimal to begin with. You're trying a tough middle of the road (at best) nation, so I applaud you, but let me know some feedback if you found any success with this. Tonight I'll start experimenting with Chariots more (not high hopes - low prot), and see what I can do for ya. Hope that helped!

    Should note that while flaming arrows adds 8 ap damage on hit, envenom arrows adds 5 AN poison damage only on WOUND. Means if those archers can't damage that thug with a normal hit, they can't poison him either.

      Its just a lazy way I call 'em. Like I said, I treat these big goofballs like hippos, so I have "my own way" of approaching them. In general, the more universally used pronunciation is more like "Ay-gar-thuh", but I play this game so much, and use their name so much, I just roll with whatever works ;) If you're looking for the technically correct pronunciation, I would assume its "Ay-gar-thuh", given the word "Agar's" pronunciation that we used to use when doing research/publishing. This is definitely not something I've ever focused on, I've just rolled with whatever worked for me ;) Thanks so much for the feedback and comment!

    For a newer player like me, even though I am starting to know the spell list sometimes I forget certain spells or I dont see immediately how a spell might benefit a nation. Going back to showing off the spells per school would help me to see what spells the nation could cast and then help me learn how to decide what paths to research and in what order.

      Very true. Oftentimes these comparisons are very valid, but in Dominions I've always found that the HARDEST thing to predict is my gold per turn in a competitive game. You lose a province you didn't expect to an elf raid, then you have an unrest event in your cap, then you have a negative event somewhere losing you taxes, and suddenly you need to field an army with 1500 gold instead of the 3k you THOUGHT you'd have, and you need to eek out every last point of power you can. Still: great comment, and I appreciate the feedback! Its a great idea to do to at least get a benchmark for "army setups"!

      @@skoub3466 Agreed. I do the same with middle aged Ulm for "high prot" armies. Its a really efficient test to setup, and its fairly effective to see if you can "punch through" with your army setup.

    The comments about archers "winning in melee" seems to miss that a lot of the archers are still shooting and are now at perfect accuracy range. This is especially true if with crossbows that are tough enough to survive for a few rounds, and don't have melee weapons that can punch through. Another bit is that archers scale up in efficiency better. 600 archers will all be hitting, while 600 infantry will not all be hitting. And against 600 infantry the archers that deviate off target will still hit something compared to hitting 100.

      Darkness, storm, anything that lowers precision even further. In the end: the only way to really counter powerful spells in dominions 6 is to: 1. Ensure they suffer MORE than you do 2. Ensure that you interrupt the spellcasting 3. Counteract with a powerful spell of your own 4. Bait the spell out with "bait" armies (i.e. small armies to use up resources) In terms of Gifts of Heaven, its often really nice to bait them out, but fliers work AMAZING against Gifts of Heaven, as you watch your opponent start spamming them on their own mage line. Darkness makes the precision SO bad on them that they often just whiff entirely, or at least are much more likely to hit themselves. That would be my recommendation. In addition, various counters exist. Against human mages spamming GoH, try "Rain of Stones" and thump their skulls with rocks until they quit it. In truth, there are plenty of "counters"... sort of, but none are perfect. Very rarely is a powerful spell easily just "blocked". Instead, try to minimize losses by using SMALL armies in sparse line formations, and if possible fly to the rear and get them to kill themselves. You'd be surprised how effective this is.     What do you think about stacking 3 masters of the sword with different paths on the same square and having them all buff each other and themselves with point buffs? Then tell em to go in swinging. Maybe toss some weapons on em, i dunno.

      That's a great idea, and CAN work. It takes quite a bit of investment, however, as 510 gold goes, you might be better off with one Master of the Sword with a decent path (like earth, etc), and a small army that he buffs with himself. Cost wise, and then you'd be waiting 2 turns, per Master of recruitment, and then you'd also have to hope the "random" nature hits 3 different paths. If you had those 3 guys sitting around ANYWAYS, I think this is solid, at least in a pinch. I just think it might be a slightly heavy investment. I've found masters of the sword to be better when you use them like scalpels: pick a small PD you can conquer with them solo, and raid with them, or support them with armies, but that's just my experience! First, it gives Agartha a way to better clear tribes, barbarians, and lizards in expansion since those all are vulnerable to ranged Second, it scales 1:1 with strength so strength buffs (easy for your nation to do) bring them to two 13 dmg attacks which is as good as short bow on humans (accounting for differences with pierce type) Third, it is on disciplined troops unlike Pyrene, so they can be given order to hold and fire close and they will stand behind line of bigger size 6 instead of running all over Finally, the fire Oracle that randoms 2F can give them flaming arrows at Enchant 5 which was out of reach for them in Dom 5, and might be reason to give your sacreds 5-10FR bless

      Definitely agree! Very important for chucking rocks, but I didn't feel the cost outweighed the weaknesses/vulnerabilities at least for my expansion. You might feel differently! Let me know the ways you maximize the usage of them, to get the best cost benefit out of them, as I feel like there is definitely some magic to be had, I just haven't worked it out yet!     Great video. EA Agartha is one of those nations I keep coming back to, and in Dom6 it seems they've only gotten better. My current pretender tends to be either a low path dormant monolith or giant crystal as I go for an Olm strat now that the underground has a lot of places you can recruit them from. Reinvig and Magic Pen/Heroism makes them great expanders with the chaffiest frontline and the changes to Mindblast are felt. Keep the vids coming 👍

      Yep! Definitely stronger in a lot of ways, but you have to remember to change your habits with summoning. Back in the day we could summon SO many darn magma children, I half the time used them as my entire front line (haha), but now its a little less cost effective, whereas living mercuries and earth elementals (barathrus pact) are way MORE efficient, so the best balance we still gotta work out ;) Thank you so much for the comment and feedback!

      Right?! These chonky chonkies are hilarious and fun to play, and yet still so effective! A truly "alien" race, in terms of no humanoids, or normal "elf/dwarf" species, so it feels really unique and neat to play them! Thanks so much for the feedback and comment!
