This proves, how difficult it is to dive into Dime's mind and musical world, and what a creative musician and genious he was... And also how openminded and great guitar player you are, Attila...! Great video!
It’s pretty cool how you can almost see how he thinks. The ending with the augmented looking pattern across the bottom 3 strings and also the pain in the ass going from the first fret A the first fret E in blazing 16th notes is Dime 100%
Dime is watching from above and smiling because of riffs he wrote a long time ago and how we try to find out how to play it !!! Getcha Pull and keep going !!!
@@AttilaVorosOfficial For me, same thing with I'm Broken. Kinda makes "more sense" to play it in open position, because when you play it up, the last three notes - B, A, G on the E string is very different than in open. But - that was/IS Dime and that's why he is a Legend
@@judas_saves from what i noticed on the cfh and vulgar display albums dime plays main riffs in the open positions a lot more, i think a big part of changing his sound and why albums like fbd and after sound chunkier is because he changed to playing on the low e string more often like in im broken, drag the waters etc. Sure you could play either of those songs in the open positon, the riff just sounds a lil too twangy in the open compared to the sound on the album. Whereas in regular people, cowboys from hell after listening a few times you can def hear a lil more "twang" on the main riff
Riffs close to the nut is often my achilles heel I play the Cowboys From Hell with the "cheat" E-string approach instead of the approach you show in this video hah :) Its just for fun homeplaying anyway
Here's a full live show with my PanterA tribute band from early this yer - ruclips.net/video/tsNa7RyAxeM/видео.html Check that out, super proud of this one ;)
@ I just watched it with some quality headphones, I was glued to the screen! Your stage presence is off the charts. The solos were just incredible, I couldn’t get the smile off my face the whole time. Well done man… Getcha pull.
Great video Attila, so cool of you to revisit and do an alternative lesson.. I feel a little guilty highlighting the soundcheck footage of Dime playing it open but thought it was worth pointing out as its the only visual recording of dime playing that riff in existence as far as i know and i bet the majority of dime fans have never spotted it 🤘🤘🤘
i don't mind highlighting things like that at all. Most the times I listen to my ear, and then watch the videos, plus it happened to me many occasions that I ended up playing something in a different way live compare to how I played it when recording simply to make it easier, so that's why I always listen to the ears first and then anything else, but of course I can be wrong at any time
I kinda borrowed that riff for a song for my band lol, I play a kinda simplified version with just the open strings, second, and third fret, then the regular power cord thang, it’s fun to play
This is the way I originally learned the song and never liked it. When you release the video a couple weeks I relearned it that way and find it much easier to play. The “open position” I could never get a good feel for
Damn im gonna have to learn this in the open position now. Are you ever going to do any parts of Where you come from? I never hear that track get any love
Wow that’s crazy! The position you originally played it sounds like a much cleaner way to play it. But I can see how dime woulda played it in the other position. Personally I liked your original position better.😆
For me, it seems to be the open position. Second position sounds to much "muted" between the notes. I wonder if Dime did both on the record at same time...
I am so glad I found this channel. I was wondering where AV disappeared. 😂 Here is a crazy thought. How cool would it be if he joined/worked with Thy Catafalque? They are fellow countrymen and awesome musicians after all 🤷🏻♂️

Loved how when you went back and fourth you had a huge smile in both videos !! Never change atilla, you give off the best vibes.
It makes more sense to play it this way. The move from the 5th fret to the 1-3 on the E is where I always made my mistakes with the old way.
to me this is harder, but it can be veery subjective in that regard

My favourite riff. By a long way. Thanks for the lesson.
Open 100%! that’s how I play it ⚡️

Howdy from texas! Open sounds great! Keep on keeping on, brother.
I like playing it this way alot better, that's awesome you're the man!
Would be wicked cool if you did this song in full like you did Uplift!
You make it look so effortless man, could watch you play all day!

Nice study of regular people
I showed this to a friend of mine and he was like “Wow. Ritchie Kotzen still got the chops” 😂😂😂

I’m thinking the open position because it has a sharper attack imho. Awesome vid, love that riff!

Hi attila, i have a request for you, would you learn the solo and breakdown for dom/hollow at italy and do an analysis?? It would be sick
Maybe he played both
Could very well be a case that it was a mix of both... my bet is still on the open position now, but it's cool to have such a debate \m/
So Dimebags fan are still there like me.. ❤
Hit like if you are like me
Riff descomunal
Repent.
I played this in open position since I watched that video several years ago: /watch?v=ZjCmaatF7hs
