Great review and spot on. One thing to note is that last year the water was shallow at the mid turning point and people started running through the water. It is maybe 150 meters long, after that you can continue to swim normally again. I kept swimming, it was just deep enough.
My first ironman too.. I'm living in Copenhagen, and it's a BIG goal of mine reaching the finishline... Imma bad swimmer, but the lagoon at Amager Strandpark where we are swiming is quite comfy and warm at the moment, so i think i should be fine. The only thing i'm worring about is the wind along the coastline, that can curse a nightmare and a burnout for sure. But other than that it's a beautiful rolling landscape. And when you reach the run course... Oh man!!! They are cheering loud and there are SOOO MANY people along the course that you should be able to gewt that extra adrenaline goint through the last loop :D .
You got this brother - amazing course and atmosphere - be careful to keep control of pace on run with those screaming fans 😉 - let us know how you got on post race 💪
@@CoachSteveMoody Hey Steve! Bad, very bad actually! Didn't even get to the startline... Had some problems with my heart within the last week so.. But I was around cheering all the atheletes around in Copenhagen (running course) and at Geels Bakke (bike course) And maaan, I wished it was me... the wheather was perfect all day.
Just watched this Steve - great information! And thank you for the shoutout - my course recon video is indeed still relevant, but keep in mind that there is a new "No pass zone" at the bridge shortly before turning back south on the loop :)
@@SeanMcDonald-j2o swim was amazing. Knocked 15 mins off my best time. Double flat tyres on bike took 20 mins to fix. Overstretched hamstrings and back as a result. Second loop way slower unfortunately. Ground out the run but got to the end and really pleased about that. Thanks for asking.
Great video Steve, thank you. Note - The run course changed a little (the update went out 2 weeks ago). The turning points at each end are cut shorter (so we do not run all the way out to the mermaid), as they have now added a small section where we run through the Danish parliament. So a few more turns added, but a special experience this year to get to do this. :)
Great call out and thanks for the correction - yeah will definitely make the class of 2024 a little more special - have fun out there pal! FORTUNE FAVORS THE BRAVE
Delighted to have helped - be sure to check out my other content - it’s da 💣 and tell/share with your tri/club mates! I have so much knowledge to share 😉

@@CoachSteveMoody Thanks man, I need it 😁.
Yeah, sure! Gonna be one hell of a day...!
@@tranceboyJr hope you had a good day. It was an awesome event and you didn’t have to worry about the wind after all.
How did your day go in the end?

Great video, it's my 1st attempt at an ironman so super helpful to have a walk through , thanks coach steve!
Very welcome pal!
Thank you for the video Steve. This will be my first ever Ironman attempt and the walkthrough video is very helpful and valuable.
Forewarned is forearmed my friend - have a blast in Copenhagen - it’s a great course!
The water was warm but shallow. And full of grass. A bit annoying to swim with the plants on the face.
It was fun though!
Thanks for the tips
Glad you enjoyed it! The race and the video!
