Hi Laura congratulations, we are an Ironman, I did Copenhagen too, it was my first Ironman too, slightly older than you but I won the 70 -74 age group in 12:54:43. What a lovely course it was wasn't it but you are right it was hard! Congratulations you smashed it.
Wow!!!! Incredible, 70-74 you legend!! Thanks so much for your comment and keep smashing those races!
Well done! Many people would be delighted with a sub 4 marathon in a marathon race, nevermind an Ironman.
amazing job!!! Great to hear a women speak about Ironman 😍 inspiring for me.
Thank you so much 😊😊
Smashed it Laura! You inspire me to continue my commitment to my triathlon journey; thank you so much for that-and well done!!!
Yesss thats what it's about! Well done you, keep at it and reach out if you need anything xx
Congratulations!!! You did incredibly well - insane time! So proud of you! Im doing Copenhagen in August as my first Ironman and this has helped so much and inspired me so much!!
Aw thank you so much! Best of luck with your prep for it 🔥🙌🏼
This is one of the best race reports I’ve heard . Fantastic time 👏!! Congratulations! I do my first Ironman next year ( August in Frankfurt). I’m a long time marathon runner but I’m new to swimming and cycling .
Well done Laura, loving your videos, u have inspired me to believe that I can! I’m working towards an Ironman in 2026…..
I’m super happy I watched the whole video , since in obsessing about ironman since 5 years ! Amazing Laura 🎉❤
Well done! the water acts as a lubricant pushing dirt into the tyre and penetrating it, making you puncture more.
Ohhhhh thank you!! And is this everywhere? Or just in Copenhagen? Tyres need to be more resilient haha
@@laurabardsley6205 My bike pals always told me you can compare it to dragging your hand through sand. If it's wet, the sand will stick to it, but if it's dry, it'll just pass through the sand. So a wet tire is basically the same principle, you get dirt and stones sticking to it when it's wet increasing the risk of punctures.
I would imagine it applies everywhere, but we have a lot of flint in Denmark, so when it's crushed and used in road surfaces, those little bits are quite sharp and might be sharper than stone used in other countries. That's pure speculation though.
@augustuswarglewinkle6328 ohhh OK this is a good analogy! Makes complete sense. Thanks for that, another fear to add to the list - racing in wet conditions and increased puncture likelihood 😂
Congrats Laura!
That's wonderful and a great recap. You really inspired me so much!
Your times in your swimming (and everything overall) are really impressive. I've just done my first 70.3 Ironman this August and was also out of the water super early on the course and I got passed so much and felt like I was not moving despite keeping my desired race pace.
All those punctures feel like an absolute nightmare. I'm really nervous and know nothing about cycling and bikes. Your times are incredible on the bike considering you don't have a TT bike yet right? Unless I'm totally mistaken... As you shop for your new bike, I'd love to learn more about how you go about chosing the right bike in next episodes cause I'll probably also be investing in one.
Alsoooo you're inspiring me now to do a full distance 😂 I'm turning 30 this year and IM 70.3 Duisburg was like a milestone race for me. I could literally not walk just waddle for 2 days after that race and watching me climb stairs was ridiculously entertaining for pu family... Anyways I thought I'd stick to half distances for a while and maybe leave the full IM for the next decade but now... I'm really tempted 🤣
Regarding the Marathon, you rocked it though with my very small experience in endurance running and triathlon, I try to take the first loop easy (slower end of my desired pace bracket) and build on pace as I go in each loop depending on how I feel. Fatigue from 28km onwards is inevitable at that stage and I don't think it has anything to do with lack of fitness... it's just a long Fucking race 😂 Probably caffeine gels might help to give you that boost you needed at the end... If you find one brand that doesn't taste disgusting let me know 😂 I used Caffeine chews through out the run in my 70.3 and it helped a ton.
Super happy for you!
Hey beaut! Thanks so much for the comment and all the bits of advice and support! Really appreciate it. Yes I'll keep you updated on bike purchasing for sure. I'd definitely say go for a full distance, such an incredible and fulfilling experience. Sounds like you've already got great experience so I have no doubt you'd be great. Just reach out if you have any questions xx
Congratulations Laura!

Thanks for this! Struggle to find any decent FEMALE vloggers who talk about tri and Ironman - I have done an Olympic distance tri a few year back and want to get into it all again and get ready for Ironman. So thanks for sharing Laura! See ya soon! :D

What a great story!! - See you in Copenhagen '24! I'll be there too!
I discovered your channel yesterday when I was searching for videos to hype me up for a sprint triathlon tomorrow (Uster Triathlon in Switzerland)- and it worked! Well done Laura! So cool to see how proud of yourself you are, you absolutely smashed it!
Hahha so proud! And kinda in shock 😂 thank you!
Well done! 🎉 will do my first Ironman in a couple of years hopefully startet with sprint triathlon this year and will do Olympic distant and a couple sprint next year and build from that! Keep pushing! 🎉🎉🎉
Amazing!!!! This is awesome. 🔥🔥
Well done. Amazing achievement. Done my first ever tri for Cork 70.3 and can see this getting addictive😂 looking forward to see what comes next. All the best
Thanks!! And congrats on your race too, those sea conditions looked terrifying!
Amazing achievement, very inspirational. Well done.
Thanks so much 😊😊
Since denmark is surrounded by beaches, and the Ironman course follows the coast line, there is always sand from the beach on the road. The sand have smal sharp shells that can couse flats. When it rains they become sharper!
This makes so much sense!!! Thanks so much 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Well done , All the best in your upcoming races 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thanks so much!!!
You're such an icon! You absolutely smashed it. Great work :)
Ahhhh thanks lovely! X
It was my first Ironman too (although waaay slower than you).
So many people with punctures, I ran tubeless and got lucky, no punctures. Someone explained there's lot's of loose flint on the road sides especially in the rural sections that washes into the road when it's rained, one of the main reason's I went tubeless.
I'm starting to feel the comedown now, wondering what's next!
Congrats to you!!! And that's very lucky with not getting a puncture. I think tubeless was definitely the right way to go. I've just started getting back into proper training this week, which is a shock to the system but think I'm ready to get working again!
Smashed it, don't think I've known someone to so quickly sign up for another Iron Man after finishing their first 😂
Hahahaha a moment of madness 😂
Awesome 👏🏻 and a great race recap. So when the next one 🤔
Thank you!! Mallorca 70.3 will be an early season one next year 😊
Laura Bardsley YOU ARE AN IRONMAN
Ahhhhh I ammmmm hahah thank you!
Huge congrats! Do you have a coach to recommend? Good luck!
Thanks for the inspiration! Do you think someone might have sabotaged the race by dropping tacks to cause all those punctures? And why doesn’t the risk of punctures deter you from racing that course again?
Thanks for your comment 🙌🏼 and no, I just think it was just debris on the road with it being coastal, which then became sharper in the rain!
Congrats Laura! I'm impressed and wish you health and satisfaction on the way towards your next goals!
BTW How is it possible to have such a great swim? What were your times at the beggining of the journey? Were you a total begginer? I try to find an inspiration, because my lack of progress is so frustrating...
Thanks so much! I swim 3-4 times per week, once with a group who are all a lot better than me so I always have to try and keep up with them haha. When I first started with my coach, I was swimming 1km in about 18mins so I've made some big improvements there. I wasn't a complete beginner but I definitely had a lot to do on my stroke technique. I've had a few swim analysis' done so I can really see what I need to work on. Also loads of drills!! And just general structured sessions. Hope this helps!
@@laurabardsley6205 I totally agree that having some healthy competition or people to catch up to is super motivating ✨
You need to do Ironman Wales if you think the Copenhagen support is good, next level!!
I did say this actually when I was watching on instagram this year. I might do a last minute entry to that next year, looked insane!!!
Incredible swim time Laura. Post-Ironman high will last a long time (trust me)😂 . Hope you have inspired more women into IM, Fantastic family support too.
Thanks so much!! And yes, always the goal to inspire more women so I really hope I have. Yeah, couldn't have done it without their support, they're great!
Seriously impressive overall finish time too, jeez you were not hanging around 😊
There is alot of flint here in Denmark .
Ahh right OK, thank you!
Amazing
Roughly how much is a coach if you don't mind answering?
I pay mine £235/month 😊
What wetsuit did you wear?
Zone3 Aspire 😊
