Kingdom End is amazing. Transport and Mining ships from Boron are now easily the best for pretty much all cases. Good capacity, good speed, and boron engines have no travel drive spin-up time. Hydra is an amzing player ship, and it's very fast. Started a new campaign and didn't work my way to Ray/Guppy and above yet, but from the stats they also look really good. The high speed of the boron ships is extremely valuable in a game without the super highway (which I'm currently playing).
Yes, please, teach me how to X4. I've had this game in my lib since it launched as it was a big deal in the german speaking cons I went to. Got in and was instantly turned off. I like playing sim games but damn X4 has so much stuff that it's hard to get into without someone to help you get your bearings.
To be honest, I'm a bit in the same boat even though I played the shit out of X2 and X3 as a teenager. Maybe it's because I'm older now and I don't have the time to really take a deep dive into it? Maybe for you it would be a good idea to get a copy of X3: Terran Conflict or Albion Prelude and play with those to get at least a grasp on the basic design principles of an X game? Trading feels a tad more simple there and easier to get into. Admittedly, my own first dive was X2 with my computer covered in post it notes where I kept track of the prices I was seeing for different goods to get more of a feel when trading is profitable and when it is not.
Well. Honestly just figure out your goal in game. Mines was to start off hunting pirates and taking their ships selling them to buy mining ships. Mine to fund my first station for income. Buy more ships for mining. Do some missions join a faction. Fight some xenon BUY more ships. Smuggle drugs for income. Eclipse vanguard heavy Fighter still my favorite small ship. After getting about 10 of these adding beams and bolts. I make a small fleet of the same eclipses with torpedoes and tracking missiles. Sooner or later late game pirates show up with these behemoths that you can steal which will give you your first L ship. From there it's rinse and repeat until you unlock your base then do research. I enjoy watching wars happen and picking up all the loot. End game goal was to make a ship factory to fund anyone's war. Yes... space capitalism is actually fun.. I guess the best part is when you finally get your xl ship and have 40 small ships and you undock them... it's like watching you bee swarm attack. 10/10. Do anything you want. I recommend turning kha'ak off ruins my game play completely.
It took me 2 months of subconscious processing in the background without touching the game for it to "click" for me. Don't worry about trying to "win". Just go in and have fun, whether that is through trading, combat, mining, or exploring. Start over as many times as you need to until you get a good feel for things. It s easy to make money in this game once you get going, think a few hours. Missions can provide decent funds as well. Good luck!
The nostalgia from the Kingdom End music was a little overwhelming. I remember the first time i entered KE in TC and i was blown away by the music. The ships are awesome too! The shark in particular looks really menacing and powerful now!
What about the game starts? It looks like you need to discover the Borons first as a prior faction, but if you start as a Boron? Is the connection already there? Or do you have a second story for that to create the connection?
I hope they complete the sector information and the weapon information, in the old days I played X3 I can read the in game Wikipedia for all day. the stories are so detailed that I feel it really happened in that universe
Thanks very much, great video! If you are someone who does enjoy space combat and upgrading ships ala "Elite Dangerous" is that to be found here? How is the combat system?
It's not a combat game as such. You can have a lot of fighting if you want, but the game is a sandbox simulation, so you will often be either outgunned or outgun. Choose your fights, so to speak. Ship upgrade is that ships can have several level of equipment (mostly 3 for smaller ones) and more or less free weapon choice (can't put a torpedo launcher on a scout). You can also put mods on your ship - you have to gather the parts for that though. But honestly, just get the base game if you are unsure as it's on sale and play a while. The game is hard to get into because it's so big, but if you still have fun after 3 days, get the expansions (and maybe start a new one with what you have learned). If you like Elite you have to get this too, even if in the end you think it's not your line because it's too much economy. (btw. spoiler: getting the player HQ pays off in getting mods and teleport ability)
is it possible to randomize the sector aswell as the derelict locations? I always enjoyed finding abandoned ships in space and even better with a random sector like in starsector
I'm sure there are mods for randomized derelict ships. But randomizing sector locations isn't so easy. Still there are mods which rearraange sector locations in a more "realistic" way.
I bought it right away but have not yet jumped into the added content, I started a new playthrough a few weeks ago and am still getting my player base and terraforming setup sorted out... but the Boron ships look AMAZING... def. looking forward to jumping into it.

There's one thing about the X games that always kinda put me off: no alien languages. When talking to aliens you can just make up the classic universal translator, but when it comes to ship names and name tags and the like, I'd love to not have names like "Shark" or "Barracuda" because, well, that's Earth creatures.
I always think of it like "NATO designations" like Foxhound for the Mig-31 and so on. So in my head the Boron have their own names and we just call them Shark and Guppy.
so did they change how the main mission for boron start in young gun story, i scanned the station of leak, before it told me to go back on station and look package but with this new update after i scan the leaks and talk to boron it doesnt do anything, what am i doing wrong pleas help
But did they fix the AI though? Pretty much the only thing keeping me from returning to this game is the frustration of actually trying to run an empire.
Honestly, the very first Paranid capital ships compared to these boron capital ships, looks like a completely different game. The original paranid capital ships looks VERY bad, and these boron ships looks amazing.
Did they ever fix the problem the game used to have where NPCs working for you stopped functioning if you were close enough to see them? (So you could never see your minions going about their tasks?) Great videos! Really hoping I can check this out again soon, as that one issue was really what was holding me back. :)
@@WatchMysh Thanks for the quick reply! NPCs doing stuff, iirc. When I was first trying to get into it I started running into lots of reports of NPCs not being able to simulate if you were in proximity to them, so you had to make sure you were always somewhere away from your workers to make sure they carried out their orders effectively.
@@FowaDeLuz Just to make sure: Right now I'm sitting in Nopileos on one of my five stations there and I watch my like 30 miners and 10 traders doing what I told them to to - or what the station managers told them. No need to leave the system.
I had already started replacing my entire fleet with Boron ships, for sure the best looking ships in the game right now. X Universe is finally whole again (minus some hundred systems that are still missing xd)
Guns are okay-ish as far as I can tell so far. I'm testing around with S and M guns atm and can't find anything overpowered, yet. But I still have to do some tests on combinations. Phase guns do heavy hull damage for example. This in combination with like Argon Ion cannons could lead to some pretty nice results. We'll see. Thing is: the weapons aren't compatible. You can't put Boron ion rail guns on a Dragon Raider for example.
Hi I am having trouble with this part of the game I get to the gate and go through but nothing happens after that. It has worked once or twice in other game starts but I have tried a few times now with no joy I am using mods but I don't think they are causing any problems. I have re-downloaded the game, checked all the files and don't seem to have any issues with the mods used I was thinking do I need to visit the station before I continue to the gate or does it make a difference in the order I do the missions in
I always flew through the gate and then the story guides you to the derelict vessel. Never tried it with any mods activated - so you might check just to make sure nothing interferes no matter how far fetched the assumption may seem to be.

I guess after you've earned some money that's possible. Maybe even from the start? Haven't tried. The game tends to shift to be played from the map around mid game anyways for most people.
it's a niche game. The reason being, it's not for people who want easy gameplay. This is micromanagement and space exploration at it's finest. Unfortunately the melonheads who made X-Rebirth were absolute morons and almost killed the franchise.
@@WatchMysh The Space Sim market is bigger than the attention it gets from the publishing side of things. But the sub-genres suffer the most. Mass market gameplay in games such as Chorus and Everspace, to some degree Star Citizen, get the money but the detailed freelancer/elite type games are still considered in the realm of flight sim enthusiast markets. I get "mostly positive" for X4 and "mostly positive" for Kingdom End. But KE got some very bad reviews recently. Some people have the opinion that the DLC is not good enough / not living up to their expectations. Well... X always divided people. Everyone wants other things improved because of vastly different play styles. Some are complaining about "hard quests". The X series never held your hand so I personally don't expect a lot of guidance. Could put you off if you're not familiar with the series. If you ask me personally: compared to one horrible mission with a switch puzzle in the Terran DLC, the KE quests are straightforward and easy to play. If you're unsure, just get the base game on sale and give it a try. Most of the mechanics and all the improvements are included there. DLCs only (mostly) expand the universe/factions.
@@WatchMysh that's not a lot of people, but I guess in this case all they really need is a couple of modellers and artists, 2-4 programmers, project managers and a team lead. I wish they would use Unreal Engine though so I could go work with them. I could make the game shine.

X4 has heavy system requirements and a lot of people even with high end computers still have issues with that game. Get X2 or X3 the 4th isn't that different from second or third game. Think about how much ram your pc has and memory because otherwise you won't be able to run it (Vram). X4 is boring very slow basically a Sci Fi ship simulator with stupid hard controls.
Yes. Just the latests CPUs starting from the 5800X3D and 12th gen Intel are doing an adequate job in late game. But X4 is massively different under the hood from X4. There's no AI cheating anymore. Only the factions have infinite money so they can't go bankrupt. Everything else is completely simulated. You're not so dependent on VRAM. X4 is rather modest on the GPU side if you don't use volumetric fog or complex shadows. You'd rather have a fast CPU with high single core performance / IPC and 32GB of RAM along with a fast SSD. You can speed up the game by a) knowing how to earn money quickly and b) construct a SETA drive which enables x5 time acceleration. If you find it to be boring, that's okay. Maybe try Everspace 2 then, great game. In my books X4 is one oft the most fun and not-boring games ever. But everyone is different. :)

BUY IT ! Thats it. It is at sale atm, with all DLCs
4:40 borron sectors always had best music. i always gladly visited kindoms end in x3. :)
Same. I totally love the music.
3:18 I know what you are saying here... but it made me take a pause for a second when I first heard it. : )
Lol
Very nice review. Calm and informative. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Amazing ships, I might try this game one day.
@@dschehutinefer5627 thanks for your recommendation. I'll have a look.
@@stardustcrackrock Or get the system explorer mod to better detect their stations. Then blow them up.
Good luck!
Really good, spoiler free review. It definitely is worth the effort, however please remind people to save and save often.
Looks superb!
Like all good things in Life, worth the wait
The nostalgia from the Kingdom End music was a little overwhelming. I remember the first time i entered KE in TC and i was blown away by the music.
The ships are awesome too! The shark in particular looks really menacing and powerful now!
What about the game starts? It looks like you need to discover the Borons first as a prior faction, but if you start as a Boron? Is the connection already there? Or do you have a second story for that to create the connection?
Afaik the connection is already there and you start as the Queen's emissary. Can't check right now. Will make sure later.
@steem lenn Thank you for your informative post! Really appreciate you taking the time. Great info, exactly what I was curious about. Cheers!
@@steemlenn8797 Great response!
I havent played x4 in years. I just picked it back up
Best time to play X4 :)
is it possible to randomize the sector aswell as the derelict locations? I always enjoyed finding abandoned ships in space and even better with a random sector like in starsector
I'm sure there are mods for randomized derelict ships. But randomizing sector locations isn't so easy. Still there are mods which rearraange sector locations in a more "realistic" way.
I bought it right away but have not yet jumped into the added content, I started a new playthrough a few weeks ago and am still getting my player base and terraforming setup sorted out... but the Boron ships look AMAZING... def. looking forward to jumping into it.
X4 is worth the time and moneys
Hey could you Maka a preview of the x4 Future ?
I'd love to. But there's no information available at the moment. All we know is that "they are not done" and will continue to work on the game. But I'll see if I can dig out more. :) Thanks for the comment!
@@WatchMysh ok a Friend told me that they don’t want to add new sectors or factions with the next dlc but improve the current structure but I found nothing to prove this claim …

Thanks for that video.
It is possible to find borons with a previous save? I'm a terran, and don't want to restart as a Boron for now
Yes. No need to restart.
Ok. I guess it's time to try this game... overwhelming to say the least but I'll manage.
Check out my tutorials. If you like what you see there, give it a chance. :)
@@WatchMysh will do!
wait is there really 100 sectors? i'd never even realised that, wow.
I think the original game had around 60-70 sectors. With all the DLC we're now at 100+. I didn't bother to count precisely.
160 sectors... ~
Do you have Kingdom End?
Yeah I have the dlc so what do I do
I'm glad they stopped adding new sectors. Around 100 sectors sounds big enough. X3 with its around 230 sector size was too big in my opinion.
Absolutely :D
Did they ever fix the problem the game used to have where NPCs working for you stopped functioning if you were close enough to see them? (So you could never see your minions going about their tasks?)
Great videos! Really hoping I can check this out again soon, as that one issue was really what was holding me back. :)
Thanks :)
Which NPCs do you mean exactly? The people on stations/ships or... your ships doing stuff?
@@WatchMysh Thanks for the quick reply! NPCs doing stuff, iirc. When I was first trying to get into it I started running into lots of reports of NPCs not being able to simulate if you were in proximity to them, so you had to make sure you were always somewhere away from your workers to make sure they carried out their orders effectively.
@@FowaDeLuz that's never been a problem for me since... 2019? So I guess it got fixed. :)
@@WatchMysh Woot!! Thanks! 😁😁
X Universe is finally whole again (minus some hundred systems that are still missing xd)
just starting this game now, most difficult i find is the mouse & keyboard controls :(
Check out my beginner tutorial :)
i wish this would have a multiplayer
I hope its successor will not become an MMORPG. Multiplayer with friends on a limited server with max 64 players would be enough.
What is that song? Great video !
It's from the Kingdom End soundtrack. :) Thanks!
I wonder how well balanced these new ships and guns will be
Guns are okay-ish as far as I can tell so far.
@@WatchMysh Hi I just tried that with no mods just the DLC's still got the same problem I verified the the files its says they are ok but I decided to do a re-install. I don't think its was a mod problem as it should have worked with just the DLC's so it must be a problem there. I give up for now lol I was planning on chilling out not stressed out lol cheers for replying
@@WatchMysh Hi mate just thought I would mention I solved the problem, I did the clean re-install added the mods still had the same problem, I saved just after the station appeared and re-loaded about 3 times still had the same problems and there where more ships in the sector than usual I asked a builder ship (Boron) the way to a rep and went right into the shipyard but still nothing was happening I started my way back to the waypoint (gate) from the mission when I clicked on the WAYFINDER and docked with him I went and spoke to the leader and it kicked off the mission so everything is working. I thought I would let you know just incase someone else is having the same issue as all the videos I have seen you find the ship (miner) when you do a scan and none where you dock with the ship like I did to get the mission started. I did 3 re-installs to find that out lol

Could you imagine if this game ran more on the gpu then cpu its smooth but when big battle fps still tanks even with a beefy pc. but how about if it also ran on unreal engine 5
Can you play effectively without ever flying first person combat? (Stay in RTS mode)
I guess after you've earned some money that's possible. Maybe even from the start? Haven't tried. The game tends to shift to be played from the map around mid game anyways for most people.
i wish elite dangerous and X4 were one game. with stargates scattered across habitable worlds.
I hope they can keep improving on quality of life stuff and especially the AI piloting which leaves a lot to be desired sometimes.
Hope so, too
Wish I could dive into this game but I just don't have the time to soak in all of its systems and mechanics.
Any improvement on the performance? I tried this game back with my 1080ti and it was terrible
Yes. But the 1080ti should be able to handle the game on 1080/1440. The CPU is more of an issue.
Will you make detailed analysis videos like jk ninja?
Not decided, yet. I'll with checking out what the guy you mentioned does :)

it's a niche game. The reason being, it's not for people who want easy gameplay. This is micromanagement and space exploration at it's finest. Unfortunately the melonheads who made X-Rebirth were absolute morons and almost killed the franchise.
Yes, absolutely niche. But less than I thought. My revisited video blew up to 170k views which was completely unexpected.
The kind of games that people wouldn't buy without a HOTAS. But this is one exception for me. I think it's sandbox is perfect for people who want to slowplay a game over weeks/months. Not fast food gaming however.

When we will see the VR mode?
I guess never
@@WatchMysh What is the reason?? VR will be cool.
@@alextopman5977 The engine and the game itself. I can't get constant 60fps in midgame even with my rig (3090/5800X3D/48GB). So unless performance increase a lot we can't power VR headsets with 90fps+ on both eyes.
@@WatchMysh You don't need a stable 60 fps because reprojections work in VR. With them, it is enough to have only half of the target value. ED quite enough 60 fps to play well (only 30 from PC).
@@alextopman5977 doesn't work for everyone. I'm really sensitive when it comes to frame rates. In VR I need 90fps stable without reprojection or I'll puke after 30 minutes max. That's why I couldn't play DCS/IL2 in VR until I got my new rig.

Lol... Yes!
Reviews on Steam are abysmal... almost 2/3 negative. Wanted to buy the whole bundle, but now I'm bewildered.

Smaller booms, then big boom with shockwave, wreck drifts.
Strange they had to update the engine to support two features that have been standard for 10+ years.
Yes. But easily explained: it's their own engine and they are just 30 people in the team.
