I really appreciate that you have Adam's right hand technique down pretty well. People study his gear and spend thousands on it but rarely analyze his playing, it seems. Half of Adams tone really is in his hands. I've always noticed when he does an open D power chord he puts emphasis on the A and high D and that's how he really gets that growl, along with those cranked mids.
Nice! Sounds great! I have two 1980 and two 1981 Silverbursts. My main guitar is a 1980 with a JB pickup. The original owner played the shit out of it as It has the beautifully aged yellow color with worn away finish on the neck. I finally found a SD DDJ Distortion pickup and can't wait to try it out with one of the other models. Norlin era Silverbursts sound massive and have so much character! I love these guitars so much! Glad to see Gibson nailed the character on these:) Congrats on your purchase and thank you for the video!
Awesome! I’ve read lots of positive comments about the DDJ on the Adam Jones Collectors FB group. Man, I checked out some of your tracks, they’re amazing! Only have heard “Ruination” and “Dystopia 04 Overture” so far, but I’m looking forward to hearing more! Thanks for watching!🤘🎸
@@chug6742 I'm sure there are some minor tonal differences. I'm a huge fan of SH-6 pickups and have them installed on 2 custom built guitars. The "distortion" name is misleading as the pickups are massive yet incredibly tight and detailed. You can get a super heavy sound on a modern Marshall inspired amp with the gain on 5! I play mine through an EVH 5153 on the blue channel with the gain slightly above 5. It's also incredibly responsive on this sort of amp. Play lightly and the sound cleans up wonderfully. Play harder and it gets super powerful, heavy and articulates all your playing nuances including palm muting. It also sounds great on super high gain amps. I just found a DDj that will be installed on a 1980 Silverburst, so I'll be able to compare the 2. If you can't find the DDJ, the current SH-6 is a fantastic alternative. The SH-6 also rules for drop tunings.

Were the strings touching the backside of the ABR6 traversing down to the stopbar? I find that common with their ABR6's. Either way the tone is spot on here for what Adam produced. Fantastic job.
Great playing and tone, and the guitar is killer! I'm just curious, why did you go for the 'fake aged' instead of buying a 'clean' one and letting it age in your hands with each scar telling your story? Cheers!

Actually, i’m using VST plugins, a blend of a Diezel VH4 (made by brainworx) and a JCM800 (made by LePou, this one is free!). What you hear is mostly the Diezel, the Marshall has way less gain and it adds more mids and definition to the Diezel. In terms of speakers (IR’s) they vary depending on the tone I’m looking for, the Marshall is always running through a 1960A 4x12 IR (G12-75), and for the Diezel I use two different cabs: a Marshall 1960 TV (Greenbacks) for the Lateralus era tones, and a Mesa 4x12 (V30’s) for the 10000 Days and Fear Inoculum era tones.
@@ivanoguits7363 Great setup; I finally got close tonally on the Helix with the Diezel/Marshall combo using IR's from OwnHammer. This sounds great; not sure I've heard anything get closer in terms of sounding nearly exact to Adam's tone. Great work, and unbelievable guitar.
